The Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara – TNI-AU) is the aerial branch of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, responsible for defending Indonesia’s vast archipelagic airspace and supporting joint military operations. It was officially established in 1946, shortly after Indonesia’s independence.
Headquartered in Jakarta, the TNI-AU operates from major bases such as Iswahjudi, Halim Perdanakusuma, and Hasanuddin. Its fleet includes F-16 Fighting Falcons, Sukhoi Su-27/30 fighters, T-50i Golden Eagle trainers/light attack aircraft, CN-235 and C-130 transport planes, along with helicopters and surveillance aircraft.
