I love it when I come across a watch design
that immediately grabs my attention.
And it grabs my attention beyond just thinking it's cool,
it actually grabs my attention to the point
where I want to own it.
But what is even more exciting for me
is then when I go on the journey
of trying to learn a little bit more about it,
and things pop up that I weren't expecting.
Things that are, well,
things that make the watch even better,
or at least better for me,
and that is exactly what happened
with this Panoramic Moonphase from Agelokker.
Hello, you're watching James.
My name's James, you're watching me,
and I am talking about watches.
And it happened to me when I started to delve
into this Moonphase from Agelokker, Agelosia.
I apologize, I'm not actually sure
how you're meant to pronounce that.
But when I went diving into this design, learning about it,
I learned something rather interesting
about the movement that they utilize in this Moonphase.
Firstly, it is that panoramic style,
that large move that moves around the entire dial,
which I think is a very cool look.
But the movement that they have utilized
is different to what is normally used in other brands.
And I'll be talking more about that shortly,
but I was able to get my hands on this particular one,
this particular color variation,
because the company reached out to me.
That is why I put the sponsored icon up there,
and I'm gonna put a link to the official website below.
And when you go looking on that website,
you're going to see that there are actually
a few variations of this one,
both in the gray color that I have,
a green color, and a black.
But there's two different cases as well.
There's a stainless steel looking case, which I chose,
but also a rose gold look steel case.
You can also get it on a strap or a bracelet.
And the differences in prices
are because of the strap option.
On the strap, they are $499 US dollars.
And if you opt for the bracelet, it is $529 US dollars.
And when the company did reach out to me
about these watches, it was,
well, there was no question which of the lineup
I was going to choose,
because I love stainless steel cases.
And this gray just looks absolutely phenomenal.
And when you then think of these watches
and look at them on the website,
of course, all of them have some of the same specifications,
that being a 50 meters of water resistance,
sapphire crystals front and back, which I have confirmed,
and a carved metal and fully loomed moon,
and a movement that is rather interesting.
And it is what, that earlier, did catch my attention.
Partly because it is a very good looking movement,
but also because of what it is.
They call it the Caliber A4610.
It is an automatic mechanical movement with 27 jewels.
It's high beat.
It has 80 hours of power reserve
and a bi-directional winding motor.
And that's great, but that is not what is exciting.
What is exciting is about the actual moon phase complication
because it is a 29.51 day moon phase.
That means it keeps hold of the correct moon phase
if you kept the watch wound for four years,
unlike other true moon phase movements, which are 29.5 days.
Yes, that's only a difference of 0.1,
but what that means is that it only holds on for 2.64 years.
Okay, so maybe it's not that exciting,
2.6 years versus four years,
but I became a little bit excited about it
because it is something different and unique.
And because if it's going to be a moon phase,
well, they've really lent into that.
And they've made a very pretty movement too,
and a pretty looking watch, especially the dial.
This is one of those dials that I dive into
and I can't find things that I would specifically improve on.
There's a lot of choices that they have made
that I would make, just like the details of the dial,
the layers of the dial, and the interest factor of the dial.
But before we get any further into this beautiful dial,
let's talk about the size of this one,
because I think the size that they've chosen for this one
give this watch a bit more of a sporty feel on wrist
versus a delicate dress watch on wrist,
which I personally am pleased about
because I like wearing sporty watches,
but I like looking at dress watches,
but then probably not wearing them as much.
So I'm glad that they've chosen to go
for a case of 40 millimeters,
a height of 12.3 millimeters,
a lug to lug of 46.8 millimeters.
The lug width is 20,
but the strap that came with this version goes down to 18,
and it only weighs in at 77.5 grams,
which then means it sits lovely
onto my 17 centimeter wrist.
And of course, that doesn't make it a large watch,
but if it'd been a little bit smaller or thinner,
it might lean a little bit more
into the dress watch category,
or at least that's my experience with it
and how I'm feeling about this.
And I'm glad about that
because that means I have been wearing this watch a lot.
I've been picking this one out of my collection
over other watches a lot.
And it is partly because it has that sporty size to it,
but it really is probably how the dial looks,
the details of it,
and what I'm going to describe to you now
and show to you in as many different environments
that I can so that you get a good understanding
of what this watch looks like.
Because it has, well, it has layers,
it has textures, it has materials,
and all of that to me means details.
And wow, do I love watches that have details
and I love the details on the dial of this one.
It is details that keep me coming back to this watch
and wanting to look at it.
Starting with what I would say
is effectively a three-layer dial.
There is a base dial, which is a very large moving disc,
which is where the moon resides.
It is textured, it is this granulated sort of look,
and it is a fume gray color.
The moon itself is embedded into that sort of textured dial,
but it is not made of that dial.
It appears like it has been made
and then mounted afterwards in a different material.
And this is a different material
because on their website,
they identified that it is a carved metal disc
creating the moon.
But what is not immediately obvious
when you look at this watch
is that that moon is also loomed.
It is the only loom on this watch.
So it is more of a fun factor
versus a functionality style of loom for this one.
And as you layer up above that moving moon phase disc,
there is a corresponding second disc.
This sort of replicates the texture
and the color patterns of that moving disc
and is also bordered by a polished piece of steel,
a polish that you don't immediately see,
but what does capture the light
when you get it in the right environments.
And that also then mirrors and links in
with those polished hands and the polished logos,
making for a very cohesive dial experience.
Those elements are then again replicated
to keep that design consistent with that outer chapter ring,
which also looks like it's floating
above that lower moving disc.
When you zoom in on that outer chapter ring,
you'll see that it also has that granulated texture
and that same color
and the markers that are applied are also polished.
And before we move on,
let's take one final look at those hands,
that hour and minute hand only,
because obviously there's no moving second hand on this one
that is worth noting and being mindful
if that's something that is a concern to you.
But the hands themselves, beyond just the shape of them,
are a lovely faceted type design.
They have a three fold design to them,
which when again, out in the sunlight,
they do capture it and it is very nice.
The entirety of the dial is then covered
by a beautiful domed sapphire crystal,
which it almost disappears for this one.
I've tested it with my Diamond Select
and it definitely identifies as sapphire.
And it is one of those watches that has so much to see,
dive into, look, enjoy on the dial
that it didn't really then need anything more to it.
It could have a relatively simple case.
And being a DREF-C style watch,
albeit I keep saying slightly sporty too,
it could have easily just had an all polished case
and been relatively simple,
but that's not what they chose for this one
because the top side of the bezel is all polished,
but then that transitions to the tops of the lugs
that are slightly brushed and it is a light brushing
that is almost reversed on the side of the watch
where the length of the side all the way across
onto the lugs is lightly brushed
and there is a polished chamfer on those lugs
and those lugs that chamfer anyway,
it always links into that little bit of polish
on that lower part of the bezel,
which for me means that the watch
becomes more of a cohesive unit.
This watch in many respects, in almost all respects,
feels like a watch that has had a lot of thought put into it.
They haven't picked a few nice, interesting visual elements
and then constructed a watch.
They've seen how all of these elements put together,
go together and work together.
The crown, which is non-screw down,
has the logo applied to it and it has two positions.
The first adjusts the moon phase location
and as you do move it around, speed it up,
it shows that it is a full dial panoramic moon phase,
which is very cool to see,
especially when you're moving it fast like this
so you can actually identify how it moves.
But of course, then the second position
just adjusts those two hands to give you the time
and I would have loved to see this watch on the bracelet.
In fact, I am seriously considering
buying the bracelet for this one
because I think it would further emphasize
that sporty feel that I'm getting from this one,
but I don't have that to show you.
I've got to show you a very nice leather strap
and it's different to other leather straps
that I've had for a couple of different reasons.
Firstly, that sort of gray color is very unique
or at least unique to me from what I've had
and it fits perfectly in the color weight of this watch,
but it has a almost slightly velvet feel to it.
Underneath, they've used a bright orange,
which really grabs your attention
and it is a bit of a surprise
because I'm not sure how that works
in with the elements of the watch,
how it is not something that you see
when you are wearing it.
But the hardware on this particular strap is very nice.
They've chosen to use something that's very good,
certainly not off the shelf
and they've continued to do that
when you look down at the spring bars.
Not only are they quick release,
make it nice and easy to swap them out
if you wanted to do so,
but they are curved spring bars,
allowing that strap to slightly integrate
into the case of this one
and I actually very much appreciate that.
I've only got a couple of watches
that have straps like this
and it just gives it that little added little element,
which just helps elevate the watch just a little bit more.
The one slight negative of the strap
that I have noticed after wearing this one lot
is that second keeper.
It seems to be maybe a little bit big
and moves around a little bit too much.
You'll see that it is almost overlapping
the first keeper there.
However, it is made of that little velvety material as well,
which when I'm actually wearing this one
and I've positioned it where I want it to go,
it almost locks it onto my wrist, which I prefer.
So it's nice when wearing it,
but seems a little bit funny when I'm not wearing it
because it sits a little bit strange on the strap.
And I guess if it was going to be one or the other,
I'd rather it sit well whilst wearing the watch.
Not really anything big to worry about,
just something that I did want to point out.
And there were so many things
that I wanted to point out about this watch
and I hope that all the video that I showed
really truly represents this one to you
because this watch has really excited me.
It excited me when I saw the visuals on their website,
but so much more since I've had it.
It's one that I've been really enjoying wearing
and is something really quite special.
And I might just have to go and purchase the bracelet
for myself to see how that then affects the wear of this one.
Thank you so much for watching.
I hope to see you in the next one.
And the next one might be one of these two videos.
