Today, I'm going to share with you five ways
to help manage your stress.
But first, what causes stress?
External causes could be linked to hardships at your work,
at home with your direct family, or at school,
perhaps due to an overload of assignments.
And it can also be caused by your finances.
Sometimes, even our aspirations
and our deepest desires and goals can cause us stress.
On the other hand, internal causes could be linked
to what's happening in our mind.
For example, restricting self-beliefs,
negative self-talk, perfectionism,
fear of failure or rejection,
low self-esteem, or lack of confidence.
Stress can also occur after traumatic events,
and this is called traumatic stress.
It can oftentimes become a long-term issue
that causes severe symptoms,
disrupting your ability to function normally
on a day-to-day basis.
Now, I want to talk to you
about the dangers of stress on your health.
It can impact your organs,
so you might feel pain in your stomach.
It can trigger headaches,
and you might experience inflammation.
Stress can also negatively impact your muscles,
nervous system, reproductive system,
and it can also weaken your immune system.
Chronic stress keeps your body
in a constant state of alertness,
and it can negatively affect your emotional,
mental, and physical health,
leading to depression, anxiety,
and even post-traumatic stress disorder,
difficulty focusing and concentrating.
And it can even bring someone to start having bad habits,
like fidgeting or skin-picking,
ignoring your stress,
or trying to cope with overeating,
overworking, or isolating yourself
only makes it worse and can lead to burnout.
Let's try to fix this the healthy way.
Number one, get your body moving.
Stress is caused by our mind,
so in order to get rid of stress,
you must drop back into your body
and focus on your physical senses.
Maybe you can create an exercise routine
that works for you.
Take a simple 20-minute walk daily,
try an energetic aerobics or dance class,
go for a swim, or simply ride a bike to a store.
There are many ways to stay active.
Exercise releases tensions and boosts your mood.
It's a win-win.
Number two, find a good support system.
If you feel stressed,
it may help to talk about whatever is troubling you
to a trusted friend, family member, or a counselor.
You could also join an online social media support group
or forum or attend a local meetup.
Number three, develop a functional routine.
With proper planning and time management,
one can accomplish stressful tasks in manageable steps,
avoiding the last-minute overwhelming pressure
to get everything done in a limited amount of time.
That's called procrastinating,
and I'm sure we've all been there before.
Creating a strict schedule
to allow time for self-care and leisure
could help add enjoyable and relaxing moments to your day.
If you can't always control every situation
on your calendar,
try having radical acceptance of your life situations,
and it might alleviate certain worries.
Try not to fight against or question your reality.
Focus on what you can control,
adjust your expectations, and take care of yourself
rather than resisting or worrying
about what's out of your power.
Number four, sleep an adequate amount.
Stress can disrupt your sleep,
which could have harmful effects on your health.
Studies show that sleep is one of the most important aspects
of health and public wellness.
You need sleep to recover and reboot your whole system
so you can have the energy to care for yourself
in other areas of your life.
So sticking to a consistent sleeping schedule every night
and practicing sleep hygiene,
like turning off your lights, turning off your screens,
not eating heavily or exercising too late at night,
and drinking herbal tea or hot milk
could help tremendously.
If you don't wanna feel like a zombie daily,
make sure to catch your Zs consistently.
Finally, number five,
find relaxing and enjoyable activities.
Engaging in relaxing activities
that promote both physical and mental calm
can reduce stress effectively.
Practices such as yoga, deep breathing,
meditation, and muscle relaxation
help release physical tension and help quiet the mind.
It allows the body to move out
of a constant state of stress.
You can also try some of your favorite hobbies
or an activity you really enjoy,
like music, art, reading, dancing, and so on.
This can create a sense of inner calm, safety, and comfort,
helping you relax emotionally.
These activities helps you feel relaxed, balanced,
and helps relieve stress.
To conclude today's video,
I would like to mention that stress
is just a normal part of life,
and what really matters is how you manage it.
