If I were starting Spanish lessons for my own children in 2026, I'd do things a little
differently. So in this video, I'm going to share with you my top tips for getting started
with online Spanish learning. Now, these are practical, fun and confidence building strategies
that work for families. And if you're curious about immersion experiences and how they can
benefit your family, check out the link in the description to this video of the home
education immersion trips that I've run throughout the year. Listo? Vamos. But first, if you're new
around here, bienvenidos, yo soy Kelly and this is Adventures in Spanish. And I've been creating and
delivering fun and engaging Spanish lessons to adults and children of all ages and abilities
since I moved back to the UK after an epic 20-year adventure in South America.
So why is online Spanish learning for children so effective? Well, by 2026, families have access
to incredible platforms that combine gamified apps, live tutors and cultural immersion. Here
are some of the key points to consider. First of all, flexibility for busy families. Now, lessons
need to fit around your sports, your school or your home school and, of course, your holidays.
The interactive tools. Now, these are games, songs and quizzes that help keep the children motivated.
Now, you'll get access to native speakers, so online tutoring can connect the learners with
teachers all over the world. And, of course, the cultural context. Lessons include traditions,
stories and real world Spanish phrases. Parents often ask me if online Spanish learning is really
is enough. And my answer is always yes. When you combine it with consistent practice and
opportunities to use Spanish outside of the screen. Now, when I moved back to the UK in 2014,
I made the choice to raise my own children bilingually. We wove Spanish into our everyday
home school life, along with English. We have the songs at breakfast, stories at bedtime,
playful conversations, loads of games. All of our projects and museum visits were all in Spanish.
And if you fast forward to today, now they're now 14 and 16 and they speak four languages. Now,
I'm not bragging, but they're fluent in English, Spanish, Welsh and they also speak some conversational
French. And watching them switch effortlessly between each language has been one of the most
rewarding parts of our journey. And it proves that consistency and encouragement is what's
needed to help kids thrive in a multilingual environment. Now, if I was starting Spanish
lessons for my children again in 2026, here's exactly what I'd do. First of all, I'd begin
with confidence building activities. So, things like songs, games, greetings. I'd make sure that
I set clear achievable goals. So, things like ordering food or introducing yourself. And you
can do a list of these and tick them up as you go along. I'd use online platforms wisely. I'd
definitely mix structured lessons with playful apps. And of course, I'd create a Spanish-friendly
home. So, I'm talking about labelling items, watching cartoons and set Spanish-only meal
times. I mean, I've got lots of other examples on the blog, on my website. I'd also celebrate
the progress. Sharing the achievements with family or other friends online is super important
and really helps with encouragement. Immersion is a big one, obviously, and I'd make sure that
I plan for it. And whether that's through virtual exchanges or actual in-real-life immersion trips.
By 2026, online Spanish learning isn't just about apps. It's about creating a lifestyle where
Spanish is part of your child's daily rhythm. So, if I was starting Spanish lessons for my own
children in 2026, I'd focus less on perfection and more on joy and the fun of a language.
The best strategies are the ones that make children feel curious, capable and connected to
the wider world. And to help you get started with all of this, I've created a free Spanish Colours
activity for your child. It's fun, visual and perfect for beginners. You can download it right
