Cooking a Ribeye Steak on my "Himalayan" Salt Rock!
In this video, I cook a ribeye steak on a Himalayan salt block for the very first time and find out if it’s too salty or actually worth doing.
I start by introducing the Himalayan salt rock and explain why it’s important to slowly heat the salt block to avoid cracking or breaking it. Instead of seasoning with salt, I only use black pepper, since the salt block itself seasons the steak as it cooks.
While the salt block is heating, I step outside to quickly show a Z Grills pellet grill I’m putting together for an upcoming giveaway. Then it’s back to the kitchen to cook the ribeye.
The second half of the video is all about the cook — getting a hard sear, incredible color, and testing whether cooking steak on a Himalayan salt block actually works or ruins the meat. Spoiler: it was a lot of fun, and the results were better than expected.
If you’ve ever wondered:
Does cooking steak on a Himalayan salt block make it too salty?
How do you properly heat a salt block for cooking?
Is a Himalayan salt block worth it for steak?
This video answers all of that with a full cook from start to finish.
