I'm Yuri, I'm Jacob, and we're going for a drive.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally.
With unofficial launch control.
Brake boost.
Oh.
That's it.
Then it's gone.
Then it's gone?
Yeah.
What is this?
Is this supposed to have like 700 torque or something?
Yeah, well, it's really good off the line for like two seconds.
Horsepower?
Torque?
480 horsepower and 700 pound feet of torque from two electric motors and a 91 kilowatt
hour battery.
Maybe I'm in a rally sport mode.
No, trust me.
I tried all the modes.
It felt the same.
I'm in unbridle.
Not unbridle.
Unbridle mode.
Not rally sport.
Traction on.
Brake boost.
Wow.
It just gives up.
Yeah.
It's good for two seconds.
Yeah.
Just like me in bed.
I got him.
All right.
So, this is the off-road rallying version of the Mach-E GT.
This is like an add-on to that.
It's got a cool wing.
It's got fog lights.
It's got cool stripes.
We got it in this cool yellowish greenish color.
We have only white rally wheels.
Which looks sick AF.
It's, yeah, I think an inch raised and then we got nice fat tires on it.
And let's go through cliche corner traction off in rally mode.
And we got MagneRide on this bad boy as well.
Back end's coming out a little bit.
Yeah.
Well, all the press footage looked really cool of it rallying on like the dirt thing
or whatever.
Yeah.
So, now we're in rally sport and rally sport does want to send a little bit more power
to the back and give it more, I guess, drift angle.
Yeah.
I think the motors have the same horsepower, but the rear motor has more torque.
And I think in rally mode, it sends equal power to both or something like that.
And then our infotainment actually says performance upgrade enabled.
I'm going to be honest.
This does not feel like 700 pound feet of torque.
No, it feels kind of...
It's like the opposite of BMW.
Yes.
You know, like BMW is like, oh, no, we only have 300.
This is 500.
This is like...
This is like 700 but feels like 400.
Yeah.
So, I don't know what's going on there.
But it is instant torque because electric.
There was an M2 that tried to pass me today while we were on this regular old road and
I did this.
And he could not get there before me.
Really?
Probably because he had to downshift or something.
I was going to say he probably wasn't expecting it.
Well, you know what?
We are at 29% battery.
Yes.
I charge it at home on my normal plug.
I don't have a household plug yet.
I'm probably not going to get one because I just don't feel like it.
Level two.
Yeah.
And then this now also can charge at Tesla stations.
Yes, it can.
However, we are not allowed to because you need to put a credit card into the car and
Ford has not figured out how to do that yet for automotive reviewers and they don't have
adapters for us.
But my friend had an adapter for his Lightning but still they wouldn't let us log into our
own account.
Yes.
So, apparently you can and my buddy said it costs a whole lot more and he takes up more
spots.
He's got a Lightning, not a Mach-E.
Yes.
And I've seen pictures of Mach-Es taking up both spots but that's what you're allowed
to do.
That's right.
They say it works.
It doesn't work at all them because the only certain ones are allowed to do Tesla charging.
I don't know if it actually works.
Right.
And if you don't have a Tesla, it also charges you more than if you had a Tesla.
Yeah.
And like, you know, Electrify America, Electrify Canada, everyone's had all these...look how
great we are and they all kind of like sucked.
Yeah.
Terrible.
So, we have no way of knowing if these actually are smooth charging on Tesla stations or not.
Yeah.
Because the supercharger network is amazing and that would kind of nullify the whole thing
with EVs not being able to take road trips and stuff because EV chargers with superchargers
are kind of everywhere.
But the handoff system or the payment system for a different company with Tesla, we don't
know.
And you can't pay at the pump at Tesla.
Yeah.
So, if you're borrowing it and there's no credit card or if you want it to like stay
off the grid and not have your credit card in your car, you can't do that with this.
Right.
You have to go to Electrify or anything else.
But then also, I think Ford is switching over to Tesla plugs in the future.
Yes.
Everyone's going to native Tesla plugs, like all the big manufacturers.
It's all a mess.
Yeah.
Hyundai is the first one to do it and they are currently doing it with the new IONIQ 5.
All right.
So, back to this car.
Yes.
How sick are these rally wheels?
The sickest.
And you can only get them in white on like any color?
Perfect.
What would be the Continental recommended tire for a Mach-E rally?
The Xtreme Contact EWS 06+.
I'm going to change that up and say Viking Contact 7 because having those on in winter
would be a lot more fun.
I did do some winter driving on some loose winter surfaces and I guess these are like
all weather tires.
Yeah.
I would prefer a winter for all winter stuff.
Yeah.
Dedicated winter is always going to be better than any kind of all season or all weather
tire.
And it does handle rally sport mode in winter pretty well.
Yeah.
Because it sends a little bit more power.
So, what happened when you tried a little bit of winter skidding?
It did what I expected it to do but not as easily as a gas car would.
So, I'm going to assume that it understeered first?
Yeah.
And it just like wasn't as pretty and just like you're trying to figure it out.
Like it's pretty much like the Dodge Charger EV.
Like in a slide, it's just not the way I want it to slide.
It can do it but you don't want to do it.
Yeah.
Like the funny thing is though in electric cars, just as a generalization, if you do
a donut in a parking lot and there's people around, they might not even notice.
That makes sense.
Where if you're in a V8, they'll hear it for sure.
Yeah.
Or in a Dodge Charger EV.
Yeah.
Because it's got the fratsonic exhaust.
That's right.
Okay.
Let's listen to this.
From the outside?
Nothing.
Just got that like a little hum but it's not as bad as like a Honda Passport hum.
Oh yeah.
Honda Prologue.
Prologue.
Prologue hum.
That was bad.
Yeah.
So that wing at the back?
Looks kind of Focus RS-ish.
Freaking awesome.
It looks so cool.
It's got like a top mount thing to it.
Looks all right.
I don't mind it on here.
I love it.
I love the looks of this.
The color though, it's too much for me.
It's too much for this particular car.
I think I'm getting too old to be like, yeah, this is cool.
No.
Here's the thing.
I think this would be cool as a Mustang GT on a Mach-E with all this stuff.
It's kind of embarrassing.
But yeah, okay.
Even the Storado we drove, that yellow was like as yellow as I want to go for that.
Like this on that would be too much.
I still think that'd be pretty good.
This is Lambo.
This is in a dark color and no stripes.
Yes.
I think, yeah.
I'm not like that into the stripes.
No, the stripes, like the decals.
You can delete all that stuff, which is good.
And we've got a rear diffuser, which is cool.
Yeah.
The front end looks pretty good, but like it's all caked with salt right now.
Yeah.
And we have it looks white.
We have a different grill because it's GT-like, I guess.
Overall.
And we also have a little bit more ground clearance on the front because we have a different
front lip.
Yeah.
Overall, looks wise.
Oh, I think we have a skid plate down there, too.
We do.
We have aluminum skid plates for the front and rear motors.
I wonder if you put a dent in it, would they still claim the whole battery under warranty?
Like, you never know, right?
It's got to be the battery.
That's why the skid plates are there.
I know, but didn't that happen to someone else?
Protect the plate?
I think it actually dented the battery.
Maybe.
I guess we'll never know.
It was a Hyundai.
We're not going to go off-roading in it.
No.
So overall, looks wise, absolutely nailed it.
Yes.
I just don't particularly love this color.
If you could drive this or a Mach-E GT non-rally, which one would you do for looks?
You get to pick the color and everything.
For looks?
Yeah.
I just get a regular one.
Just a boring, just regular one.
I don't want anyone to see me in this.
But with these wheels, man.
I love the wheels.
This is like, how could you not reward whoever put these wheels on here?
Yeah, I get that.
I love these, like, OZ-like looking wheels, but...
Yeah.
Now, would you get this over a Focus RS on tsp.truecar.com?
Abso-*******-lutely not.
You know what, though?
At this point, my back could not handle a Focus RS.
Okay, suspension wise, this Magneride is way better than what the Focus RS has.
I would have to tsp.truecar myself this instead of a Focus RS because I'm at that age where
my back is toast.
I'm not eight years older, or younger Yuri, anymore.
See, I only look at cars with the modifications that I would do to them, and I would 100%
get some, like, KWs or something for a Focus RS and deal with that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then I don't have to drive one of these.
Even though I don't mind one of these, and I actually, for a split second, considered
buying one for a family car for my wife.
This comfort of this is very nice, though.
It is.
Like, daily driving it, when I'm just, like, cruising in a Whisper...
Oh, that's a drive mode, by the way.
Yeah, Whisper, Engage, and Umbraidal.
Yeah.
It's nice.
I'm driving my kid to, like, daycare and back, and just doing normal stuff.
It's not painful or anything.
It's softer than the Explorer ST, for sure.
Oh, yeah.
This is more comfortable than that.
And going over this bump, that's great.
It's like nothing.
It's just fantastic.
That bounciness that the regular Mach-E has that doesn't have Magneride, it's all gone
in this.
And the steering feel through here is just, like, nice, pretty firm.
It's just an overall very enjoyable daily that looks cool, that can apparently rally
if you're going to do that.
Yeah.
Very pleasant experience, overall.
Now, there's a lot more fun stuff on the inside, but I want you to talk...
Yeah.
What's there?
What's your favorite gloss?
Oh, man.
Is it Gloss Toilet or Gloss White?
Toilet.
We got a lot of that.
Let's go.
Welcome to Toilet Time.
We know everybody's already watching on the toilet.
So we do have Toilet Ceramic White Gloss in here on the steering wheel.
And on the back of the seats, which are cool.
It's kind of interesting.
It's better than Gloss Black.
Matches the wheels.
The rims.
Yes.
Okay.
Let's just launch this thing without brake boosting it.
Ooh.
And we're out of power.
Man.
But we are at 27% battery.
Yes.
So we have a range currently of 67 kilometers.
Your range is also going to go down in the winter, as we are currently experiencing.
It's an electric car.
That just happens.
And I would have charged it at a nearby charger right before this quickly.
However, we know that Petro-Canada never works.
Electrify Canada probably will not work.
And the flow is still, after eight years, only 50.
Yeah.
I'm sure you're going to have to go on a little adventure so you can get home after this.
Get home and pick up my child before it's too late.
Speaking of your child, there is a child seat back there.
So there's plenty of room for myself at six foot one and a half and a child seat right
there.
Do you fit comfortably in the front?
I do.
And these seats are actually really comfortable, really well bolstered.
And I'm going to use this bolstering into cliche corner.
So let's see what happens in rally sport mode.
And I mean, there is some body roll to be expected.
It's got MagneRide, which I think does help with that as well.
And yeah, I mean, it's...
Snap and go.
It cut power.
Oh, because I don't have full traction off.
You do have full traction off.
No, I don't.
Let me explain that.
I saw it flashing.
So rally sport turns off one traction and then you have to hold for advanced track off
down here on the left side.
And then you get full traction off and then it allows a little bit more slip angle, actually
a lot more slip angle.
Hypothetical, really small spin around.
Yes.
But it still does cut in so you can feel the e-motors not giving you the full torque because
companies can't really do that apparently.
And one thing I'm noticing in here, we don't have a sunroof.
It's really dark in here.
Yeah.
Super dark.
I kind of wish we had one, even though we have a black roof on the outside.
Am I convincing you?
No.
It's just so dark in here.
That's why.
Maybe if this didn't have a black interior.
How about this propulsion sound?
It's okay.
It's not obnoxious.
Can you hear it?
Go.
I think it's the right amount.
Yeah.
Big difference.
Because it's like it's barely noticeable.
And that's how easy you can turn it on or off, which is great.
Do you like one pedal driving?
I hate one pedal driving, which I'm glad there's an easy way to turn that off.
Why is everything yelling at me?
I don't know.
Oh, because I'm in rally sport mode and it didn't like that.
You know what I hate about all these buttons?
They look like they're grayed out.
They look like you can't even turn them on if you wanted to, but you can.
I see totally what you mean and you are right about that.
But then again, this is the old infotainment, the vertical one.
In the new Explorer ST, they went to Android automotive, which I assume means everyone
on the infotainment team got moved somewhere else.
Moved somewhere, yeah.
Because like, what would you do if you guys like, oh, no, don't worry, the Android guy's
going to take care of it.
Yeah.
I mean, you still have to have people that are going to implement it, so.
I guess.
Yeah.
They got to make the screen or find a company and make the screen for them.
It's probably the Android automotive screen team.
Yeah.
I do like the volume knob and since we've driven so many Mach-E's and they've updated
them over the years, now the volume knob does like more things.
So if you press the fan speed, now you get the fan speed around there.
So it's like cool stuff like that.
Yeah.
It's, once you get used to it, it's not the hardest thing to use, but you are definitely
keep taking your eyes so far off the road by looking so far down.
Exactly.
Like way down here.
Yeah, I agree.
But it is wired CarPlay.
I think you can do wireless as well, but like I get to do wired.
Yeah.
I love that.
But here's the weird thing is like, once you're plugged into CarPlay, if you're in
the screen, CarPlay should be up here, but since you're already in CarPlay, you have
to click this X to get out.
They don't always have a CarPlay logo, even though it's like a weird layered system that
takes your mind a while to get used to.
Mercedes does a really good job of that where they always have them at the top left, no
matter what.
Backup camera, a little bit snowy right now, but I can tell it's got that Ford resolution.
Ford resolution, but it gets dirty quick.
And speaking of getting dirty quick, that trunk to open it, we've got a button down
there.
Hard to find.
Yes.
Your hand always gets dirty, and then there's no button to lock and close.
I did notice that as well.
So once you click close, then you got to take the key out of your pocket and do it, or walk
up to the side and click the little lock button on the door frame or whatever.
And to click that button, I feel like it always takes me two or three tries.
I'm going to interrupt you because we are on snow.
I'm going to floor it.
Oh yeah.
Let's go.
Rally.
Yo, this is pretty sick.
The rallyness of it is good.
Yeah, that's sick.
All right.
That was pretty cool.
Go ahead.
Sorry.
So clicking that button is annoying every time.
Like I feel like it's always a mission.
It's not easy to lock it.
And then it does have no door handle.
So like you have to click and pull.
My kid tried to open the door and she was so confused.
Yo, I'm not going to lie.
After about a week, I am sick of my hand being in this position to unlock a door.
Oh, I love that you can't put it into drive if you don't have the key on you.
That's the best feature that Ford does for like warming up cars without a remote start.
How's the trunk space?
Trunk space is good.
Real good.
I can fit like all the stuff I need.
Like obviously it's a little coopy.
And it's coopy, but I still have plenty of room back there.
So like it's not too coopy, but because of the black roof.
Yeah.
You can make it even higher.
Yeah.
But I'm very happy with the trunk space and everything in here.
Yeah.
I can see how well we should get to that.
I can see how so many people buy these because this outsold the Mustang versus the Mach-E
for the first time ever.
Yeah.
Which I want to talk about why I think that happened.
So I assume that they weren't selling that well at first.
Mach-Es or Mustangs?
Mach-Es.
Okay.
However, incentives, discounts, things like that, the price of the new Mustang is also
going up as well.
Canada just announced no more...
No more rebates.
Rebates.
Yeah.
So all the dealers and manufacturers are now trying to say like, you know, let's just cut
these mandates and stuff, which also does make sense because cars are harder to sell
if they're EVs and they don't have the rebates because the EVs are so expensive versus the
gas versions of everything.
I mean, because the old manufacturers doubled down on luxury EVs instead of like awesome
little commuter EVs like the Bolt, which is the best.
And here's the thing, it's like, oh man, what a shocker, a four-door family car outsold
a sports car.
Obviously.
Yes, I know it's for the first time ever, but like...
Yeah.
Okay, Ford, how about you make a four-door real Mustang with a V8 like you did in Australia?
They got the coolest four-door cars.
I think that would sell pretty well.
Although Chevy with the SS kind of proved that it didn't work.
Although there was no marketing or anything like that for that car.
But look at Dodge, right?
Like a four...
That sold.
Like a four-door Charger.
Sold like crazy.
Do they have an electric SUV?
No.
Oh, the Pornhub.
Oh yeah, it's electrified.
Plug-in hybrid.
And that did poorly.
Yes.
So SUVs don't always crush compared to cars.
Yeah.
I think a four-door version of a gas Mustang would be amazing.
Like actually amazing.
And it would outsell this.
Depending on the tax credits and all that fun stuff.
But yeah, driving this thing, I thoroughly actually enjoy it.
Although that lack of power, I kind of hate.
Because we've experienced the Hyundai IONIQ 5N now.
And that thing, I think, has less pound-feet of torque, if I recall correctly.
But it feels like it has way more.
That car was the perfect EV.
Yeah.
Except for that, it was a little too firm.
A lot too firm for the suspension.
That car needed this suspension.
And if they made like a slightly lifted version.
If they literally said, I see your Mach-E Rally.
Yes.
And I'm going to match that.
Because they would just crush.
They need the XRT-N.
Yes.
Because they have the XRT we saw.
But it's like, you'll pull white wheels on it.
Same stripes just come for them.
Yeah.
And then if we pop the hood.
What's there?
Just a room for ice and shrimp.
It does have a drain plug or whatever.
Because we do have a frunk, which is nice.
So if there's no engine there.
Is there a dipstick?
There's no dipstick.
No.
What do we do with total energy since we can't put oil in it?
Well, Yuri, while electric cars don't require engine oil due to their simpler mechanics and reduced friction.
They still need other fluids like coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid.
These fluids ensure the smooth operation of mechanical parts, prevent overheating, and maintain braking efficiency.
Click our total energies link in the description below.
And you can get recommendations for your gas cars and EVs as well.
The lube consultant.
That's what I did for my Mazda.
The best part is that it tells you exactly how many quarts you need of every fluid.
I love that.
It's the best.
Yeah.
So then inside here, a couple more things.
These materials.
All still really cool.
I don't think they're too different for like the rally, you know?
Like if this was toilet white, then maybe.
But it's not.
I think it's just the steering wheel stitching in the white part there.
Visors.
Oh, I threw a cliche.
I didn't want to hit.
Three, two, one.
Yes.
Good job, Ford.
And the cup holder area is fantastic.
No complaints there.
The armrest is good.
And we've got a wireless charger down there as well.
Yes, which I don't use because I use plug-in CarPlay.
It's nice to just throw my phone while this isn't my press car right now.
Yeah.
And the Series XM here, kind of tricky to use.
But I did find that this sound system was really good.
I really enjoyed this B&O sound system.
And I feel like in the Explorer, we didn't like it.
I don't remember at all.
In something, we didn't like it in this B&O.
But in this, I did really like it.
Nice.
Okay.
What other little things are there?
We have cruise control, adaptive.
I don't think this one has blue cruise.
Although, it's got this thing to track your eyes.
I know, I know.
But like.
Apparently, it does have blue cruise.
It just wasn't working on the QEW.
Surprise, surprise.
On the 407, and it won't let me get into blue cruise.
It had blue around it, and it said ready.
But it kept telling me to put my hands on it, but never said blue cruise ready.
I don't think blue cruise ever worked for me in a Mach-E.
But it has worked in like the Explorer and other cars.
Yep.
And yeah, I think that's pretty much it.
Do you have anything else to add before we get to the price?
We do have Brembo front calipers, not rears.
So is that pretty much everything with this?
That's everything.
Let's get to the price.
$76,095.
Okay.
Kind of a lot.
This is like kind of the only electric off-road rally vehicle.
Yeah.
It sits at the top of the Mach-E lineup above the GT.
I get it.
It's cool.
It's fun.
I get it.
I don't get the price, but I get it.
Like this should be the same as the GT, just a separate option.
What if.
No.
They do different stuff to it.
I know.
But they should just be the same price.
Like you just pick you want the GT or you want the rally.
But this adds stuff.
And it's cooler wheels, more wing.
More material.
What if I want the GT wheels?
It doesn't really add anything then.
Yeah.
I don't, but.
I don't know.
Anyways.
I'm skidding right now in the snow.
Yeah.
It's very controllable in rally sport mode.
It's fun.
I like it.
Whoa.
Yeah.
Let's go.
It feels great.
It does.
All right.
Would you take this over an Ioniq 5N?
No.
Would you take this over the regular GT?
I'd take this over the regular GT.
Mach-E.
Yeah.
Of course.
Okay.
Sorry.
I had to think.
Of course.
I would take this over that.
Yes.
Is there a gas SUV rally car?
Or any other rally cars that are being sold right now?
Like this?
No.
Only Porsche 911 Dakar and Lambo Storado.
So I guess if you're not rich as heck and buy a bunch of Porsches or Lambos, have fun
at the Mach-E store and enjoy your rally.
Yes.
As I'm enjoying right now on this snowy road.
This would be great for driving up to the ski hill.
Yeah.
When they haven't plowed the roads yet.
It would be.
Even though I used to do that in my 85 Camaro or whatever.
Yeah, yeah.
85 Firebird.
We did that in all of our S-Boxes.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for subscribing.
See you guys in the next video.
