Savannah Guthrie Makes Urgent Plea for Help in Mother’s Disappearance
Savannah Guthrie asked the public Monday to help locate her missing mother, saying her family has entered “an hour of desperation” as the search stretches into another week.
In a video posted to Instagram, the “Today” show co-anchor thanked supporters for their prayers while sharing that investigators still do not know where her mother, Nancy Guthrie, is being held.
“Hi there, everybody. I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Guthrie said in the video. She said her family believes the prayers being offered are reaching her mother and giving her strength “even in this darkest place.”
Guthrie said law enforcement agencies are working around the clock to bring her mother home, but said that public help remains critical. “She was taken and we don’t know where. And we need your help,” she said.
The video marked Guthrie’s most urgent appeal, directed not only at residents of southern Arizona but also nationwide. “No matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement,” she said.
The new plea came hours before a ransom deadline allegedly set by Nancy Guthrie’s abductors. Savannah Guthrie said the family continues to believe her 84-year-old mother is still alive.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. No suspects or persons of interest have been identified yet.
