Relive Patrick Reed’s final nine holes at the Qatar Masters in the Back 9 on Sunday, presented by Nexo.
And he's going after that a bit too.
You don't often see Patrick Reid look like
he's trying to give it a bit extra,
but he has.
And he needs a lie.
He's got it.
He should be able to have a crack
into from there.
224 by 208 to carry that right side.
I reckon he's got that
the old six iron trying to squeeze it
to that front edge and let it release.
Yeah, done very well, hasn't it?
For Reid, it should just tumble back a little bit.
Yeah, and he's got that for Eagle.
That's that's all of all.
It's Donna hot up here in the desert.
Excellent try.
Looked into me Tony from about here.
Agreed I couldn't see this.
But at least it gets him back to par for the day,
which which will.
Hold a little comfort difficult hole today.
4th hardest only five birdies on 11,
but he likes that read.
Galloping on.
Just missed the divot.
Wind just dying down just momentarily there.
Sure, he's feeling that. Wedge.
Yep, that's dropped on.
I was just wondering first time
if he was aware of that drop off
just beyond that flag.
It's a fine line, isn't it?
Between being intent and letting go.
This is a birdie that this to take the lead.
Big moment there for Patrick Reid.
Back to back birdies.
It's nice and smooth.
Wouldn't have placed it better.
Right down the fairway.
Big palm tree right at the pin
about 10 feet right of it.
Draw it in there.
Club 12 normally says he's hit a good shot
and he has getting better and better for Reid.
Yes, you do feel if he knocks this in,
he can sort of coast his way in a little here.
Read.
I'll burn all good part from Patrick Reid
and the last six holes 13 and 15
are the two holes you would
really treat with respect.
Take power on both.
When you've got a two shot lead
that needs to put the brakes on.
Oh yeah, that's a mistake.
That is a mistake.
Just never go long there.
World class how good you are at the sound.
It's easy to get that wrong.
Come up an inch short of the green.
It's back in the bunker.
Look at this.
Great commitment,
great release of the club head.
That's like a birdie right there.
It was definitely a lot more momentum.
In the game and the brain of Patrick Reid.
Yeah, hit up the hill here at 14 round the corner.
This will suit his iron.
Natural draw of the ball.
He pounded one through it.
He's going with driver
three with though I can see not driver, sorry.
Just helps him move it a little bit more.
Yeah, and it's not a ridiculously long hole
with that bottleneck.
I think that's a smart play.
Get after this one back of the stance.
Get it up there.
What's all that to do?
Excellent, yeah, it's not.
It's not an easy putt,
but he was clever there.
You know he took the longer club
and hit it softly to negate
any kind of a potential flyer.
The only one to read that putt is Patrick Reid.
Brilliant putt.
Three bodies in the last five ton in the screw.
Job done.
Just a straight iron shot required.
And he's got it.
Lovely shot from Reid.
Well, that could be it.
Another tightening of the screw
you would suspect here.
The next, of course, record is going to roll over
for next time out.
Oh, that was.
That had gone in,
I would have ventured to say that the game was over
because Reid doesn't make it doesn't have disasters.
Glimmer of hope left for the others.
What a solid par though.
It's leaking right a little.
That's fine there with his short game.
That's unexpected.
Just so used to him playing those shots
and just nudging them into three or four feet.
Yes, he would have liked birdie,
but you know what?
Middle of the green on 17,
two putts par up the last.
Nobody catches him.
Simple as that.
This really does suit the eye of Patrick Reid.
Went off that right with the pin on the left.
He can aim at Ollison's ball,
draw it off of that,
work it towards the flag.
That was without taking any risks.
It's not a give.
That putts caught out just about everybody today.
It is just so fast down there.
Well done.
Yeah, that's perfection.
All that's required now is a nudge,
another nudge, and two putts.
And he knows that.
Lovely drive.
Simple layout for Reid.
Have to find the fairway here, Tony.
It's all he's after.
Find the short grass,
splits the fairway.
Yeah, exactly where he's aiming.
Reid, a bit too much spin,
but yeah, you can't believe how much it's fun.
Well, that'll do you.
He'll mark that.
Step aside.
The last putt of the week.
It's win number two this year for Patrick Reid.
He is the 2026 Qatar Masters champion.
He's out at 37, a back nine of 33.
It's once a day, yeah.
He's the second wire-to-wire winner
this year alongside Christopher Wrighton,
and the second multiple winner alongside Jadon Shaver.
Well, Patrick, well done.
You have done it again.
This time you are the winner
of the 2026 Qatar Masters,
your second DP World Tour win of the season.
You must be on cloud nine.
Yeah, you know,
yeah, it wasn't looking very good there
on the front nine,
and to lose the lead like that,
then to be able to kind of flip the switch there
on the back nine,
you know, obviously felt amazing
and it was great kind of,
especially this little run I had,
you know, two wins in a second.
It's, you know, it's awesome.
I mean, I love the way the game feels
and, you know, I couldn't be more proud of my team
and my family back home.
I mean, for pulling all nights
and all the grinding we've done this off season.
So yeah, no, it's special to come out here,
especially to get two wins early on in the season.
Hopefully, you know, there's a lot more to come.
Look, you mentioned that slow start,
so let's just dissect that round.
At what point did you really think
that you were in control of this tournament?
Well, I just needed a putt to go in.
I mean, I had 18 putts on the front nine.
Yesterday I had 33 putts,
so I felt like I was hitting the ball fine.
Even there on my bogey on two,
I mean, I missed the drive just a hair left,
but I mean, we expected a flyer
and we got even a bigger flyer.
And so, you know, I mean, I felt like right when
we kind of made the turn, went to the back nine,
I knew we had a gettable hole 10 there being downwind.
And at that point, you know, we were chasing at that point.
And so, you know, I mean, just decided to go for it
and, you know, just trust in the putter
and trust in the process
and we were able to kind of get it done.
Look, you touched on the starts of the season.
That's now two wins, second place last week.
Could you have dreamt of a better start to the season?
No, I mean, we couldn't ask for anything more
than what we did.
I mean, I felt like the game was really solid
and, you know, I knew I loved Dubai.
I've played there before, I've played well there.
And so to get the first win there
and then really to have a chance there last week
and unfortunate not to be able to close it off,
but then to come in this week and close it off,
especially, you know, we had a lot of adversity today.
But to be able to flip that switch
and play bogey free here on the back nine
was special.
Yeah, look, you mentioned Dubai.
You are at the top of the race to Dubai rankings.
I know it is early days.
It is still only February,
but how much is that on your radar?
It's always on your radar.
Trust me, you'd rather be in lead
than rather than hunting and chasing.
And so for me, you know,
it's always been one of those things that, you know,
it's always been a dream of mine to be an American.
It comes out and wins the race to Dubai
and, hey, we're off to a fast start.
Very well played, enjoy the win.
Thank you.
