Hi bookaholics, this is Deirdre Pippins and I'm coming to you today from North Carolina as we are
having a historical, I mean historical snowfall. Just take a look out my window. This is a picture
of from my deck here. I'm sitting in front of my windows, well my doors in front of my deck
and I'm telling you we've got, oh my gosh, I think we've got at least six inches of snow out there.
I'm thinking, I'm predicting a foot of snow in North Carolina today. I'm in the Charlotte,
North Carolina area and this is big. This is really big. I think this is the most snow I've
seen in my life. Okay, so there's all that. So on such a snowy day, I've got a stack full of books
that I'm going to take a look at. I'm already in the middle of reading The Inheritance Games,
which is a pretty good story. It's YA and it's also a mystery. So I'm almost finished with it
and I hope to finish it today. Okay, so this is my one of my snowy reads. One book that I keep
attempting to try and I guess it's just sometimes not the right time, but it's a mystery thriller.
Sorry about that. I had a phone call, of course, when I'm recording a video.
So one of his, None of That is True by Lisa Jewell. I keep hearing good things about this book. I hear
it is just really, really good. So I might give that a try. The other one that I have started
is Cursed Daughters and I'm not going to pronounce her name, but I do know the last name is
Brathwaite. That's also kind of almost tongue twistery, Brathwaite. But this has started off
very good. As a matter of fact, I guess this is kind of sort of fantasies like a curse that's
being passed down in a family between mothers and daughters. So this book I haven't read. I just
received it from one of the authors that will be appearing on my podcast and YouTube channel.
And it is an Irish ghost story. And one of the reasons I'm going to try it is because
one of the characters in here is named Deirdre and it's spelled just like my name. So there's that.
Then there's The Street by Anne Petrie and she was one of the writers of the Harlem Renaissance.
And you rarely hear her name called out with the Harlem Renaissance. But I have started reading
this book and it is exceptional, exceptional. Put this on your TBR list, definitely. Head over to
Amazon, download the audio book today. It's very, very good. And last but not least,
is a book I've been seeing a lot lately, Skylark by the author of The Paris Wife.
And this is a historical fiction. And so I'm going to try all of these. I'm going to try to,
well, like I said, I'm already in the middle of reading The Inheritance Games and I'm already in
the middle of reading The Street. Those are already good. I've already started The Cursed
Daughters. That's good. It's just two more books that I need to read a couple of chapters for.
So I'm going to try them all. I think for the rest of the day, the rest of the evening,
and into tomorrow, I have plenty of reading time. Okay. Well, I hope you're enjoying yourself and
I hope this is a reading day for you as well. All right. See you later.
