Discover Villa Badoer, a stunning example of Renaissance architecture designed by Andrea Palladio in 1556 for Venetian nobleman Francesco Badoer. Located in Fratta Polesine, Veneto, the villa was built between 1557 and 1563 on the site of a medieval castle that once guarded a bridge over a navigable canal.
Villa Badoer is renowned for being the first Palladian villa to feature a fully developed temple pediment on its facade, evoking the grandeur of ancient temples. Since 1996, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto."
One of the villa's most striking features is its elegant, curvilinear barchesse, inspired by ancient Roman architecture, which originally housed agricultural activities. Today, one wing of the villa hosts the National Archaeological Museum of Fratta Polesine, opened in 2009.
