Wow it is cold out there.
Good morning everyone. My name is Trent and I live, travel, and game out of the back
of my gaming camper van. And uh, forgive me for my bedhead this morning. I did not sleep very well
because last night I stayed up late playing video games. But in today's cozy camping episode,
I am in the southeastern portion of the United States, specifically the state of North Carolina.
And currently this area of the United States is experiencing what they're calling a generational
snow slash ice storm, aka the snowmageddon of 2026. And you know, normally I would be embracing
a winter storm like this here in the van because this van is a beast. You guys know I've got
four-wheel drive, everything in here is solar powered, I've got as much heat as I want,
so if the weather were to get sticky out there, me and Millie would be just fine here in the van.
But the problem with winter storms here down in the southeast is they're a lot different
than winter storms elsewhere in the states because it's often more than just snow and a lot more
ice. Also the southeast doesn't experience winter storms that often, so they don't have
the infrastructure to deal with that ice. So the roads get chaotic and because there's so many
trees here, when the ice builds up on the trees they effectively become missiles. The ice buildup
adds so much weight to these trees that they often fall, limbs break, crush houses, tear down power
lines, and it's actually quite dangerous to be outside. So me and Millie have decided to cozy
up in the van from the safety of my brother's backyard where there are little to no trees
around the van. This backyard is basically a big field and no big trees around me so I don't have
to worry about a limb falling down and crushing me or Millie as we're outside. You know, it just
felt like the right thing to do because they are predicting that this storm is going to get crazy.
But that's okay because I've got just about everything I could possibly ever need in the
going to get cozy back here, game on my PC, make some delicious hearty meals in the kitchen,
and just enjoy each other's company. Today is going to be a very, very cozy video.
I need to move you for a bit. It's time to make the bed.
Good girl.
What do you think of the snow, Mills?
So it is about 24 degrees out. Not too terribly cold, but definitely cold for this far south.
And so far, this is a really tame winter storm. The forecast was saying that this is going to be
a very dangerous winter storm, so that's what we all prepared for down here. I even stocked up on,
like, tons of groceries just in case, like, you know, the roads were undrivable and things were
closed down due to power being out and stuff like that. But, I mean, where's the winter storm?
What do you think, Mills? What do you think of Snowmageddon 2026?
Well, you know, even though it is pretty tame out here right now, the weather could change. The
forecast is saying that it's supposed to pick up later this evening, and we are getting below
freezing temperatures for about a week, so who knows what'll happen. But right now, this is just
a regular old winter day for me. Hold up, I need to dry your paws off. Okay, load up.
It's nice and toasty in the van. I got my heater going, and, man, I love the winter
in this van. It is so cozy. Some might even say it's cozy, cozy, cozy.
But I'm getting hungry, so I think it's time to make some breakfast.
Well, everyone, it is actually the next morning. Some more freezing rain did come in overnight,
and things got pretty icy. But as you can tell, the sun is out, and everything is now melting.
So Millie and I made the executive decision to keep moving because I can only sit in my
brother's backyard for so long. And honestly, the roads here aren't that bad. I mean, there is still
some ice, but the sun is warming this place up pretty quick, so I think that's all going to go
away pretty soon. But as you guys can see here, look at all this ice on these branches. And this
is exactly what makes these winter storms here in the south so dangerous. As you can see from this
little tree here, all that weight of the ice is making the tree bend. And if this tree weren't
healthy, this would just snap right off. And that's what I was worried about when camping in
the woods with my van. But fortunately, this winter storm didn't get that bad, so I feel
pretty okay about walking in this forest right now. Load up. Okay, I think me and Millie are
going to continue heading north because I'm bored and we live in a van, so we can just do that because
we want to. Yikes.
Well, this was the old forest road I was going to go down to to find camp for the night, but
as you can tell, this road is completely just ice. Look at this. Oh, shoot.
Oh, yep. I'm not driving on that. If I can't walk on it, I'm not driving on it. Wow, that just goes
to show how icy it's gotten. Thankfully, the sun is out or else it would be getting worse and worse.
Okay, now to try to figure out a different place to camp for the night, I guess.
Here's another icy forest road. This one's actually closed off. All right, looks like this isn't going
to be as easy as I thought it would be, which I don't even know why I thought it would be easy
to find a place to camp. Look at the grass in that yard. Wow. Everything is still frozen up here. We
are in the mountains now, so it's significantly colder. It's about 20 degrees, and I think what's
happening with the sun being out is that it's actually melting things a little bit, but then
it's instantly freezing again, creating a sheet of ice on just about everything. I mean, a lot of
these people's driveways here are just ice. Like, there's no way you'd be able to drive out of these.
Just look at that. You're not leaving that building without sliding down this.
These roads have turned into just an ice skating rink. That's crazy to see, but what's even crazier
is that this area, North Carolina, didn't really get hit that hard. So, imagine the other states
like Tennessee got hit really hard. I think Texas got it really hard. Oklahoma. I just can't even
imagine. Look at the way these trees are just glistening in the sun here. Oh, this is crazy.
These roads are not safe at all, and as you can tell, the wind is picking up quite a bit too.
This is sketchy. Not a good idea. Not a good idea. Yeah, we're gonna turn around now.
Yeah, it's way too dangerous up here. Well, I have been driving quite literally all day long,
trying to find a place to post up for the night, but as you could tell, I'm having a very difficult
time, but that was to be expected. I mean, we just experienced a huge winter storm here,
and honestly, I probably should have just stayed in my brother's backyard, but I was just so eager
to hit the road again, but it's a good thing I did stay in my brother's backyard while I did
because, as you could tell, all these forest roads are completely iced over, and there's no
way, had I been camping back there and then the storm rolled in, I would have not been able to
get out of that because I don't have tire chains or anything like that. I should probably get some,
and driving over straight ice in this thing is a terrible idea because the van will just
slide. It doesn't matter if you have four-wheel drive or not. You're going to slide if you don't
have enough traction, and the temperatures in the southeast are going to be well below freezing for
next week, so those roads aren't going to thaw out anytime soon. So had I been back in the woods
camping, I may have been stuck back there for quite some time, so it's a good thing I was in
my brother's backyard when I was, but since I can't find a reliable place to camp out in nature
like I originally intended to, I've decided to go back to the old faithful and camp in a Walmart
parking lot, which is basically my second home. Home sweet home. Wow, it is cold out there. Oh my gosh,
how is it colder here than it was in Iceland? It makes no sense. You know what? It's kind of looking
like the snow is picking up out there. I get the feeling me and Millie are going to be cooped up in
this van for quite some time. Millie, what do you say I go into Walmart, grab you some toys,
because we might be in the van for a lot longer than I intended. All right, where is the pet section?
Here we go. What is this, like an alligator? Perfect. Oh, you know we got to get some bully sticks.
Ooh, duck jerky treats. All right, that should be enough to keep Millie occupied.
Oh Millie, I got you some presents. She knows already. Look what I got. Oh, toys. Oh my gosh.
Which one you want? You want this one? Or you want, you want this one? Or wait, what about this one?
You got like 50,000 toys now. I also got your favorite, Millie. I got you some bully sticks.
I went far and wide to get these for you, girl. I love you.
Wow, my feet are wet and cold because I tracked in so much ice and it's all melted on the floor
now. So I'm going to go ahead and kick on my heater, heat this place up, and it's time to
dry off this floor a little bit. That's so much better. Now let's make this place cozy.
Let's lay right here. Good girl. There you go. You found a squeaky? Oh, I didn't realize that
one had a squeak in it. She's gonna lose her mind. All right guys, this is home sweet home for the
night. The van's all cleaned up. The floor is no longer filled with a bunch of water and ice.
I got my PC booted up. It's icy and frigid outside, but inside the van, it is hashtag cozy
vibes. Oh, I love winter camping in the van. Millie, what do you think? You love winter
camping in the van. You love winter camping in the van. And I think for the rest of the day,
I'm just going to chill. I'm going to vibe and do what I do best and act like me hitting my ankle
in that chair didn't hurt because it didn't. But guys, check it out. It is 13 degrees and it's
going to be one degree tonight. However, it feels like negative 10 degrees right now. How does that
work? I have no idea. I feel like if it feels like negative 10, it should be negative 10, but
I'm not a weatherman. So it's only 5 PM. So we've got quite a bit of time until, I don't know,
I make dinner. I'm not all that hungry yet, but I will be here probably in the next hour or two.
So I think until then, I'm just going to hang out in the van, play some games, do what I do best,
and just chill. All right, ladies and gentlemen, it's dinner time. And since me and Millie are
effectively snowed in, iced in, I'm going to make something special tonight to keep our spirits high.
I got us both some big, juicy New York strip steaks. I'm gonna have a side of broccoli with
that, and my belly cannot wait. All right, steak's all seasoned up. This is Millie's here. I got it
set off to the side because she doesn't need any seasoning on hers. And I'm just gonna let these
sit, get to room temperature. While those are just chilling for a bit, I'm gonna try and find a good
movie to watch tonight. And I'm thinking something post-apocalyptic or, oh, you know what? The movie
Day After Tomorrow would be really cool to watch in this weather. You know you're about to eat, huh?
Good girl. All right, here's Millie's dinner. I cut up the pieces into nice Millie-sized pieces.
She cannot wait. I love you, girl. Eat up. Oh yeah, that wind is going crazy out there.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, the moment has finally come. A dinner fit for a king with a side
of steamed broccoli seasoned with salt and garlic powder. Let's give this a little taste test. Why
don't we? Broccoli's seasoned perfectly. Let's see if the steak is cooked perfectly. Oh no.
Oh no, how tragic. Steak is a bit overdone. Oh well. I honestly believe that no steak is truly
overdone as long as it's seasoned correctly and buttered correctly. And my hypothesis
was just proven right there. Wow. But now that dinner is served, I am going to feast upon this
delicious meal while watching The Day After Tomorrow, which, if you haven't seen this movie,
it's a really good movie. It's about, like, the earth suffering from some catastrophic weather
events, and it gets crazy. It's a good watch, especially on crazy weather days like this.
You let Jason operate the drill? I can handle it. We're seeing some bad weather over Canaveral
back this week. Your wife's gonna get me an air phone. Roger that. Oh man. Well guys,
I was gonna wash dishes, but my water pump is frozen. And that happened quick. And that seems
to be happening quite often in this van. And maybe it's because of my water pump placement.
My water pump is buried up under my bed in the back corner. So even though it's nice and warm
in the living area of my van, that heat doesn't get back to the water pump back here. And I tried
even leaving this open, because, I don't know, some heat goes back through there. At least
keeps my freshwater tank not frozen. But it doesn't get far enough back to my water pump,
so it freezes when it gets too cold. And considering it's like one degree outside,
that froze in like an hour. I gotta figure something out about that. If you guys have
any recommendations, please leave them in the comments below. But I'm actually curious to know
how cold it is outside. I actually put a thermometer outside to see how cold it got.
Let's see. All right, this is saying it's about 6.3 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now.
That's crazy cold. But even though my water pump froze, it's been a really cozy evening.
I ended up actually playing this horror game called Blood Permafrost. And it's about this
camper that is stuck in a snowstorm, who loses his wife, and he starts getting haunted by these
strange visions. It's a very, very interesting short game. And I actually recorded it. It's
gonna be on my second channel. You guys should go watch it. I'll leave a link to it in the
description below. But it was cool because it takes place in a winter storm. And considering
I'm in a winter storm right now, I don't know, the immersion was just top notch.
All right, Mills, come here. Good job. Good job. Oh, shoot. Millie, you messed up the camera.
Wow. It's amazing how comfortable I'm able to be in a Walmart parking lot in single-digit
degree weather. Granted, my windows are all frozen up, but it's okay. I've got my heater running,
and I run that thing all night. I literally haven't been cold this winter yet.
Like, I truly am living in luxury in this van now. Like, my last van was cool and all, but
this van just has everything, aside from the fact that my water pump keeps freezing. But
we'll figure that out on another day. But I think I am going to change the lights in the bedroom
to something a little more relaxing. Let's go with, uh, oh, yes. Orange. A deep orange.
Oh, yeah. There we go. Now it's feeling cozy. But guys, I think you know what time it is.
Millie and I are officially in bed. It's been a great couple of days. We have survived
snowmageddon 2026 in the southeast, and it's all because of this really awesome camper van.
And I cannot wait to take this thing up to even more harsher climates. And, uh, guys,
if you enjoyed this video, let me know in the comments down below, and make sure to
smash that like button. It helps me and the channel grow and thrive here on YouTube.
But guys, that's enough yip-yap for now. Me and Millie are going to get some sleep
and figure out where we're heading off to next, because, uh, I actually don't know.
But that is the nature of this lifestyle, unfortunately and fortunately. But guys,
thanks for watching. I hope you guys are staying warm out there, and I will see you all in the next
video.
