The church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité bears witness to nearly nine centuries of local history
Its foundation may date back to ancient Merovingian oratory indicating
that a place of worship existed before the current structure was built
It was in the 12th century that the church truly took shape
Remnants from that era include the sturdy square pillars of the nave
which once supported a now-vanished barrel vault
These Romanesque features form the oldest core of the structure
The wars at the end of the Middle Ages spared neither the
village nor the church which suffered significant damage
It was largely rebuilt in the 15th century
particularly in the area of the choir and transept
During the 17th and 18th centuries the building underwent further transformations
The portal is rebuilt in a classical style
and the interior is thoroughly redesigned
The entire heart of the structure was listed as a historical monument object in 1974
