This modern home by Olmesdahl is built on a steep site in Cape Town and designed to make the most of limited space. The property is divided into two levels, with a five-bedroom family home on top and two rental apartments below. This smart layout supports urban density while still feeling like a private house in a green suburb.

Inspired by historic row houses and the architect’s travels to Mexico, the design features a strong concrete podium that holds many of the home’s functions. Red-tinted concrete and patterned screens reflect Cape Town’s architectural heritage.

Inside, the house has clean lines, simple shapes, and warm, tactile materials. Skylights and high windows bring in plenty of natural light, while large sliding glass doors open the home to stunning city views.

Personal details, such as reused furniture and locally crafted stone pieces, add character and connect the house to local craftsmanship. The landscaping blends structured architecture with natural elements, creating a calm and balanced atmosphere.
