Mediterranean Permaculture Food Forest - John Kaisner The Natural Farmer

This video from 2021 shows our 6,000 m2 food forest at 3 1/2 year old. It's located in Zone 3 of our residential project here on the NE coast of Sicily (USDA Zone 10a). We use only rainwater that falls on the land to irrigate 200 trees through the dry Summer months. The rainwater is harvested in ponds as there are no roofs present on this part of the land. In spite of the continuing drought conditions that persist in much of the Mediterranean basin, this technique continues to provide resilience without depleting precious groundwater reserves.
