Svalbard | A Sailing Expedition along the Northwest Coast
Svalbard had always been just a distant name on the map – a place of cold, ice and old explorer stories. So we decided to change that and chartered a sailing ship to set out on an expedition. From ghost towns and abandoned Soviet mining settlements to towering glacier fronts, walrus colonies, rough seas and calm fjords, this journey took us through some of the most remote and fragile places we have ever seen.
This film is a slow, personal diary of that week – a mix of sailing, hiking, wildlife encounters and small moments on board. It is about the awe of being out there, the excitement of an Arctic sailing adventure, and the quiet joy of feeling very small in a very big landscape.
