Machado Thanks Trump, Outlines Future Plans

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Carina Machado today thanking President Trump for helping remove Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and outlining plans ahead. She presented her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump yesterday during their meeting at the White House. As Venezuelans, we are absolutely grateful to President Trump, his team, his administration, and the people of the United States, because it took a lot of courage to do what he did. And he did it, yes, on behalf of the American people, but also because he cares for the people of Venezuela. And he told me that yesterday. I am profoundly, profoundly confident that we will have an orderly transition. This is a complex phase we are in right now. Some of the dirty work is being done by them, but then the result of a stable transition will be a proud Venezuela, who is going to be the best ally the United States has ever had in the Americas. Machado was addressing the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., and taking reporter questions. She said Venezuela is on the threshold of freedom. She told her fellow Venezuelans that the country will be free with the support of the American people and President Trump. The opposition leader said she's communicating with the democratically elected President Edmundo Gonzalez of Venezuela, and they're preparing with their teams to take over the Venezuelan government when the right time arrives. So far, it's unclear when that transition will happen. The Trump administration has been cooperating with the remaining elements of the Maduro regime represented by acting President Adelphi Rodriguez.
