Today, I will be teaching you to
high-five your cat in three simple
steps. I made this tutorial for people
who have no prior experience training
their cats. So, let's get right into the
video.
All right, step one is pretty simple.
Take a treat [music] in your hand and
present it to your cat like so. As you
just saw, my cat wrapped his paw around
my hand and brought the hand to him in
order to [music] get the treat from my
hand. This is obviously nowhere near a
high five, [music] but he is now
learning the fundamental basics of being
able to high five. [music] Teaching your
cats tricks is all about convincing
their mind and making them associate
[music] the treats with the high five.
After repetitive training sessions, you
can try to remove the treat from your
[music] hand and still offer it to your
cat. If this doesn't work out, you can
always go back to step one. However, my
cat was a fast learner and learned the
whole trick within one day. A side note
for you is it's always better to teach
your cats when they're young. Okay, so
step two is all about centering where
their paw lands on your hand. Offer your
hand to your cat without a treat. And
the odds are they'll hit your hand, but
probably on your fingers. As they move
their paw to your hand, try to make
their paw hit the center of your hand by
moving your hand to where their paw is.
After a while, it will begin to look
like a high five. Repetition is key with
this trick, so make sure to not take
long [music] breaks in between training
sessions. While you keep trying that
with your cat, I'm going to go over
today's sponsors in 20 seconds. [music]
It happens to be my merch shop, which I
just released on eBay. We have hoodies
and shirts, mugs, blankets, etc. It
would really support the channel if you
went and checked that out. Just type in
FrontP Paw Productions YT on eBay and it
will show up. Let's get back to the
video. So, like I was saying, the high
five is not a hard trick to teach. It
just takes patience and it is a backbone
for many other tricks such as them
giving paw because it requires the same
idea of them hitting your hand. It also
helps with them learning fist bump,
which my cat actually learned a couple
minutes after high five. Anyways, I hope
this video helped and thanks for
watching.
