Welcome to the third video in the Shots in the Quark course on Special Relativity! Before we can start doing Special Relativity proper, we just need to cover one last preliminary topic: matrices. Matrices are a kind of mathematical object that are very useful for representing coordinate transformations, and Special Relativity will involve a lot of those!

In this video we introduce matrices and their basic operations. We'll see how to add and multiply them, and take their inverse and transverse. We'll also explain why they're so useful for representing coordinate transformations.
