Lajos Deák-Ébner (Pest, July 18, 1850)
Budapest, January 20, 1934) is a Hungarian painter.
He completed his studies in Munich and Paris. Here he became acquainted with French painting, which led him to move to Barbizon. He met László Paál and Mihály Munkácsy, whose style later became decisive in his art. From 1874, he was a regular resident and creator of the Szolnok Artists' Colony for several years, and he also participated in the establishment of the colony.
His painting is characterized by a realistic style of representation, which can be found mainly in his paintings in Szolnok. He was an authentic portrayal of peasant life. Between 1887 and 1922 he was the head of the Budapest Women's Painting School. In 1890, together with Károly Lotz, he painted the frescoes of the Tihany Abbey. Between 1895 and 1899, he painted the murals of the Art Hall.
