Beneath the dazzling lights of the entertainment industry,
there are people who grow more isolated the more decent they try to be.
The story of Yu Menglong is not just the tragedy of an individual whose past reveals nothing but
integrity. It is also a mirror reflecting a showbiz ecosystem riddled with unspoken rules,
suppression, and hypocrisy. From subtle details of character, to chilling revelations from insiders,
from the suspicious silence of fellow artists, to the haunting symbolic signals left by Chow
Ren-liang, everything intertwines into a picture that is impossible to ignore.
Why is kindness so often rejected? And how high is the price of refusing to kneel in
the entertainment industry? Let's explore these questions together in today's video.
The entertainment industry could not tolerate Yu Menglong.
Usually, after a celebrity passes away, all kinds of dark scandals surface.
Yu Menglong was an exception. After his death, netizens scrutinized his past under a microscope,
only to find that he was one of the rare figures in the entertainment industry who became
cleaner the more you dug. He was frugal, filial, devoted to his craft, kind and considerate.
This wasn't a PR stunt, it was the truth, hidden in small telling details.
Here's a simple example. Once, at an event, there was a little boy standing behind him,
constantly peeking around, hoping to get into the camera frame. Yu Menglong noticed. Instead
of blocking the child, he took a step back and let the boy move forward into the shot.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the child, someone else raised an arm to block him,
afraid the kid might steal the spotlight. That is upbringing. That is kindness. Yu Menglong
always thought of others and looked after them. And yet, someone so genuinely good, perhaps even
a little naive, was pushed to the brink by the giant divat that is the entertainment industry.
We once mentioned on the program that while he was alive, Yu Menglong refused his company's
arrangements involving so-called resources from powerful female backers. For that,
the company scolded him as a loss-making asset. Because he wouldn't sell himself,
those resources were handed to someone else. What followed was prolonged suppression. He was never
allowed to rise. This wasn't just Yu Menglong's personal experience. It was a microcosm of the
entire domestic showbiz ecosystem. The well-known mainland commentator Psalm Zuda, often called the
Yu Menglong Critic, spoke out again. On December 13th, he posted a video urging netizens to pursue
idols rationally, saying that some stars aren't just faking their credentials, they're fake from
head to toe. Song also said that Bai Zhen was an anomaly. He refused to go along with the crowd.
And that's why the entertainment industry could not tolerate him. In Eternal Love, Three Lives,
Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, Yu Menglong played Bai Zhen so convincingly that it
felt like a perfect embodiment. Song said that those so-called entertainment stars care only
about money and fame, with no real emotion or sense of loyalty. Whenever something happens in
the industry, they fall silent, never once standing up to seek justice for anyone. He also clarified
that not everyone in the industry is fake. There are good people too, like Bai Zhen. In real life,
Yu Menglong was kind-hearted, upright, and deeply filial. That's why, despite years in the entertainment
industry, he remained poor. Others had villas and luxury cars, he had none. He rented a place in
Beijing, didn't even own a decent car, and still donated hundreds of thousands to disaster relief.
Typically, famous stars are very wealthy. With his looks, if he had wanted to make money, he easily
could have. But he didn't want to collude with bad people or live a fake life. And so this filthy
entertainment industry became a cage, one that couldn't contain him. That is what makes it all so
heartbreaking. To help everyone better understand the kind of environment Yu Menglong was up against,
let's look at a recent revelation from another actor, Yu Shaokun. He once starred in Forever
Enthralled, Mei Lanfang, won a Golden Horse Award, and has solid acting credentials. Yet in recent
years, he has rarely appeared on television. Why? Two days ago, in an interview, he spoke bluntly
about the truth. It wasn't that he lacked acting ability, it was that he didn't want to be swept
along by the rules of the game. He directly pointed out the unspoken rules of the mainland
entertainment industry. Resources are maintained through social maneuvering. In other words, you
have to blend into the circle, attend meaningless dinners, drink to entertain others, and exchange
empty pleasantries. Yu Shaokun said that at those banquets, not a single word is truly meaningful.
But if you don't show up, then no matter how good an actor you are, especially if you're a newcomer
or your career is in a lull, no one will pay attention to you. Once you become popular though,
everyone crowds around you. The current market runs on using insiders, not outsiders, with traffic
and hype reigning supreme. Yu Shaokun loathed this kind of fake socializing and even developed a strong
sense of resistance toward it. In the end, he chose to leave the world of TV dramas and return to the
stage. Netizens call him a sober man in a delusional world. Now think about it from another angle.
A young idol like Yu Menglong, with good looks and strong traffic potential, would inevitably face
far greater social pressure and far more dangerous temptations from these unspoken rules than Yu
Shaokun ever did. By refusing the so-called powerful female backers, Yu Menglong was effectively
rejecting the industry's access code. Within that system, being clean became a kind of sin.
Of course, some people choose to endure with grit, like actress Xu Baihui. She has been in
the industry for 21 years and acted in 88 productions. You may not know her name, but
you've probably seen her face. She too is a hardliner. In the past, when a major project was
casting, a producer hinted that actors who know how to play along will have more opportunities.
The implication was obvious. Xu Baihui refused outright and insisted on discussing only the
script. The result, unsurprisingly, was that she lost the role. She once said,
Over 21 years, she has had no romance scandals, created no publicity stunts, and doesn't even have
behind-the-scenes interaction photos with male co-stars. What was the price? The price was never
becoming hot. Her endorsement fees don't even come close to a fraction of what traffic stars earn.
Xu Baihui lives with clarity. She bargains at the market, lives at a slower pace. But we have to
admit, not everyone can be like her, finding a narrow path to survive in the cracks of capital.
In the mainland entertainment industry, quite a few people have used indirect, symbolic ways to
express their support for Yu Menglong. Recently, mainland singer Zhou Shen appeared on the program
Music Garden Project 2, where he performed two new songs, Toward Being Human and Lin Min.
Both the stage design and the lyrics drew widespread attention. The stage for Toward
Being Human featured a wooden puppet tightly bound by strings, suspended in midair. The stage
for Lin Min showed a large, coiled fish, along with human figures falling downward. Elements like
falling people and a large fish are extremely sensitive and easily remind people of the Yu
Menglong case. The lyrics of Toward Being Human go, To become human, one must first extinguish
the soul, then prepare a substitute, to carve it into bone and heart. Why did Yu Menglong seem to
invite disaster? Because he refused to kneel. He wanted to remain an upright human being. Under the
rule of the Chinese Communist Party, social morality has sharply declined, turning society
into a world where right and wrong are blurred, and black and white are reversed. Recently, an old
video of Chow Renliang resurfaced, seemingly hinting that the company Blue Media, Shenlan,
was involved in money laundering, and that this may have been connected to his death. In the video,
Chow asks, Do you know why the sea is blue? Because there are fish. Earlier, he had painted
a picture titled A Small Fish Blowing Bubbles, which some interpret as hinting that a small fish
had run into trouble. In addition, Chow Renliang once posted an entry with two images at the
beginning, a one-eyed fish and a one-eyed dog. Some speculate that this symbolized one-eye harming fish
and dogs, with the one eye often seen as a symbol associated with a cult-like organization.
In that same post, Chow wrote, The most suitable time is 2025. Is all of this really just a
coincidence? Years ago, Hong Kong artist Edison Chen mentioned the one-eye symbol in an interview,
calling it a secret that cannot be spoken. Shortly after that interview, he became embroiled in
All of this suggests that the entertainment industry is far more complex and dangerous
than its glamorous surface might suggest. Did Jackson Yee Mourn Yu Menglong?
Before and after Yu Menglong's first Seven Days Memorial, the seventh day after his passing,
many people probably still remember Jackson Yee's much-discussed stone-stacking live stream.
Throughout the entire broadcast, he kept sighing, said nothing, and silently stacked stones.
At the time, everyone found it extremely strange. Some believed this was his way of quietly speaking
out for Yu Menglong. Others suspected it was some kind of ritual, or that he was acting under
pressure. Recently, Jackson Yee gave an exclusive interview to a magazine and finally addressed the
incident. He explained that the live stream was an impromptu arrangement after a concert ended.
Since he hadn't live-streamed in eight years, he wanted to find a way to interact with fans,
and eventually chose stone-stacking as a form of static expression. He emphasized that it had
nothing to do with trending searches or any political implications, and was simply a way
for him to express his emotions and offer fans a quiet sense of companionship. He also specifically
mentioned Yu Menglong, saying that Yu's sudden passing had dealt a heavy blow to both himself
and fans, prompting him to place greater importance on mental health and work pace.
However, these remarks did little to quell public suspicion. Many netizens felt the explanation
sounded overly official, especially the repeated emphasis on mental health, which they believe
closely aligns with the official framing of Yu Menglong's death as suicide, or an accident after
drinking. As a result, some suspect Jackson Yee of helping authorities whitewash the narrative.
Netizens then revisited Jackson Yee's Quechua concert tour from August and September,
and found numerous elements involving clay imagery, ritual-like choreography,
and highly unusual styling. The studio even asked fans to bring soil into the venue.
This series of actions made it hard for many to believe that stone-stacking was merely a form of
static expression. Instead, it appeared more like the performance of some kind of ritual.
In addition, investigations into his network of connections revealed that Jackson Yee is
closely associated with a powerful figure known as Yishu, whom he reportedly even calls Uncle.
Notably, this same Yishu was publicly labeled an enemy and rival as early as 2010 by the late
Link after link, the situation appears anything but simple. In addition, netizens have uncovered
that Xiao Maiqi, nicknamed Xiao Niangniang, has long been regarded as one of the suspects in the
Yu Menglong case. On September 9, 2025, he posted in his super topic,
The company is very close to the venue. Everyone can take one route.
First go make a scene at the company, then head to the Frog Factory and shout it out.
The so-called Frog Factory is actually a nickname for a theater or performance venue in Beijing's
798 Art District, a place where people can gather and party. The key point is the sensitive timing.
He made this post on 9-9, right around the period when Yu Menglong ran into trouble.
Shortly afterward, he shared footage from a hotel. Among it was a sunglasses selfie in
which a suspicious scene was reflected. This was posted at that same time.
What many people didn't know is that not long after that selfie was posted,
he oddly asked online, how does numbness caused by nerve damage recover?
When this question was dug up alongside a series of his earlier actions,
many netizens felt there might be more to the story.
Prior to Yu Menglong's incident, there were also claims that he may have been injected
with a neurotoxin, specifically pufferfish toxin, of which just 0.5 grams can be fatal.
After injection, respiratory paralysis can occur within 20 minutes, leading to death.
So was Xiao Maiqi's question related to this?
Asking something like that at such a sensitive moment feels like more than mere coincidence.
Netizens continue to search for clues day after day,
hoping that one day the perpetrators will be held accountable.
