I SCREWED UP...

I screwed up. We got the new limbs. They're earth. They match the risers. The other ones were ambush
green. So I like the way it looks. This is my lift. Again, this is like the OG lift I got
two years ago. I got it early ahead of time. Super fortunate. Never had an issue with the limbs,
but... Hey, welcome back to the Elk Shape YouTube channel. Guess what? I f***ed up.
And basically, these are limbs off of the lift, the original lift. Yes, these are not bad limbs.
These are limbs. I probably got one of the first lifts, the original lifts ever. Back then,
I didn't have the Matthew specific fingers on my easy green. And so when I pressed this bow
a couple of years ago, I put a dent in all of them. And the dent is, you can see it just,
it's a line that goes all the way across all of them. And it didn't bother me for quite a few,
like for two years straight and thousands and thousands of arrows until it started bothering
me and started wearing down. And as you guys know, Matthews has an awesome warranty with the
original lift. Those limbs follow the bow. So if you ever have a limb issue ever, they'll get you
new limbs, second day air. So I reached out to Matthews, said, Hey, I told him what happened.
I screwed up. I need to get these fixed. They sent me new ones. Let's watch as I build this
awesome lift bow. And guys, I got to tell you, this lift, the original lift is the one bow
that fits me for whatever reason, better than any other bow. You know what I'm talking about
when you have that bow that just, the anchor, the way that it fires, your groups, it's just an
awesome, it's a shooter. And I want to keep it as my backup bow going into elk season.
So I want to bring you guys along as I fix this bow up. Here we go. All right, guys. So you can
see I'm taking measurements, getting, you know, race height, ATA, peep to arrow, peep to pin.
And then I'm taking the rollers out and I'm going to take all the, like remove the cams,
basically take the axles out. Then I'm going to unpress the bow and then take the old limbs out.
You can see the top hats, the top two are podium micro top hats and the bottom two are just
standard. I'm going to set those aside, pull the old limbs out and then check the mail every day
for the next couple of days until my limbs showed up. I ordered earth. I thought earth would maybe
look a little bit better than the ambush green. Just my personal opinion. So the new limbs arrive
they're specific as to which way they go, but make sure you take note of that. And then they
just pop right in pretty darn easy. And I figured since I was getting new limbs,
miles, we'll get new strings, put my top hats in exactly where they were, put it in the press,
get the axles in. So the cams are on reassemble. Here we go. So I figured since I'm getting new
limbs, miles, we'll go ahead and get new strings. So these are the gas ghosts and they're pretty
loud and I'm kind of proud. So you want to get your, you want to get your yolks in, but first
before you put that axle back through. So I did both sides and then you're just going to get your
cables tied through. I just kept the roller guard in and then wherever part of the cables that
weren't served, I just slid in. So you can see this one, I'm just going to slide right under
the roller guard and then slide over to the serving side. And then we're going to put the
string on and then I'm going to take my old string and just line up the peep and the center shot
because it was dialed before. And I'm going to reorient that cable that goes from my rest,
put my peep in, check my knock fit. And then I'm going to do the old double constrictor
Joel Turner. I think I do this right. I'm pretty sure I do this right. Make an X go over,
make another X and then go through those two arms down and around and out the last arm,
grab a pair of pliers for both sides and just constrict it down nice and tight.
I kind of, I'm using that Amazon knock, that lighted knock that I love. And then we'll just
burn. Again, that's that Magibrade 80 pound test. Dacron, I bought it from Bass Pro. I think,
I think it works pretty good. And then I also switched to BCY 23 per Joel. So make sure that
top knot is facing away from you if you're right-handed and then the bottom knot will be
facing you shelf side, making sure that we have no knock pinch. I burned the one end and then I'm
just going to tie in this last side, get it cinched up pretty tight. Use the pliers to snug it pretty
good. One more snug. Then we're going to cut and burn. Oh no, I'm checking knock fit first.
Cut it, burn it, and then give it one more tuggy. So first thing I want to do is check time and I
can see that the bottom cam is a little bit ahead. So I'm going to readdress that cable
orientation from my rest so that it doesn't get caught on anything. And then I noticed that the
timing is so close, but just not quite perfect. So I'm reaching to my new bag of tricks and
these guys, we'll leave a link in the video description where to get them, are just little
spacers. I think that Dan McCarthy makes them and pop that in and what do you know, we are in
business. So it was like the fastest way to time that and it should stay in time, which is nice.
That's the beautiful thing about gas bow strings. We got the new limbs, never had an issue with the
but when I got that bow, I didn't have the Matthew specific attachments for my easy green.
And so when I pressed it the very first time, I put significant dents into the limbs. And I would
say after thousands and thousands of arrows, I was like, man, I think I better replace the limbs,
but I never got cracking or splintering. I know they did have a bad run and they did have
a solution. So if you ever did have the original lift and you had limb issues,
they would get you new limbs, second day air, no questions asked. And that, that cool,
that warranty follows the bow. So if you ever ended up picking a lift, I love the lift,
the original lift. It's a great bow. I shoot it really, really well. This will be my backup bow
for elk this year. I'll be setting it up for also antelope, white tail. I'll be using my
Carter too simple. And I took down my measurements before I got new limbs, new strings,
and I'm gonna try to get this baby as close to that as possible. Right now I got a meeting.
That's going to be a three hour long meeting. So I'm going to leave this bow in the draw board
for quite a few hours. These are not the system X. These are the ghosts. They're pretty beautiful.
If you ask me 25 and seven eights, that's exactly what it was before. I'm gonna burn an inch 3.75
peep to arrow. That's exactly what it was before. I've had this bow in the stretcher now for hours
and hours. So what we're going to do right now is pull it out. I also want to shoot it through
paper. So we're going to shoot this through paper before I do that. I'm just going to tie this in
like not for sure. For sure. Check peep height and make sure it looks good.
BCY 400. I'm not going to even cut and burn it. I'm just gonna keep it like that. And then we're
going to put everything back on the bow before we shoot through paper. So for this bow I'm running
the elk shape edition stabilizer kit. My back bar has one, two, three, four, five, six, seven ounces
in the back and the angle is pointed down. So I'm just going to get that in. We have a 10 degree drop
15 inch bar with two ounces in the front just like that. The arrow that I run
Easton 5.0. Let's pray for a bullet hole because this is not the X. This is the original lift and
so that means top hats which I have grown fond of not having to deal with top hats.
But how sick is this? Earth, earth, earth. Some loud strings. Let's shoot it. Oh baby. 82 pounds
holding weight 18 and a half. That's pretty aggressive. Definitely got a bullet hole vibe
to it. All right so we like our paper tune. Big shout out. This little product right here
is a spacer. We'll put a link in the video description. I have no affiliation but I just
like that and I was able to kind of micro tune that time which is awesome. I did have to obviously
when you put something in this down cable you're going to mess your time up a little bit but we
got that adjusted and I also like the way that that's pulling the orientation of that knot. Those
are things to pay attention to. We're running the Joel Turner special knock set where we have that
Magic Braid 80 pound test in the bottom. No top. We're using the BCY 23 D loop material and now I'm
going to tie this in with the BCY 400. So on here was a sight tape I made specifically for the iron
wheel wide on that 5.0 and then I believe I left myself the original sight tape on the back side.
I think I did myself a good favor there. Hey from 20 to 150. So I'm going to pull this off. I don't
need this on here anymore. The poundage looks really close to where I left off. We're going
to measure the brace height here in a second and the axle to axle. Then we'll get this thing
shooting. Uh get you know a couple hundred arrows through it and then we're going to do a head to
head shoot off this lift with my Carter 2 Simple thumb button versus my Lift X with my Solix
Clicker. Should be a nice little shootout. We'll go over the Spokane Valley Archery and I'll literally
shoot target for target each bow each release and score it and just see if there's a real obvious
winner or not. Last but not least give it one of these. Six on the nose.
29.5. Okay we got this matched to the specs we like. We're paper tuned with all our stuff on it.
Let's go sight in see if we can find 50 or 60 yards. A little tall. Dang.
I will give you this bow Riley if you can pull it back. I can't. It is insane.
God that's got to be close. I think down just a smidge. That's 20. All right so I needed to get
my backup bow spruced up. So the first thing I did replace the limbs, replace the strings,
get all the measurements taken off of it because I loved it, duplicate it and then now I mean right
now these are pretty new strings so I'm pulling back 82 pounds. I think after a couple weeks we
might drop down to like 81, 80 which should match this sight tape up. So I'm going to get it close
and then I want to shoot my backup bow this Lift OG versus my Lift X and it will be this guy versus
index and again I've said it before I'm doing an index just for elk this year because it's just
things happen fast and any type of situation like that calls for an index in my world and then like
animals or species that have like I have more time maybe even open country elk where there is no
timber and I'm sneaking around this would work but for the timber elk and the elk that are coming in
quick and all that kind of stuff I want to get to an index so but I want to shoot these two head to
head and that will be the next video and we will see if there's any difference in score.
All right guys thanks for watching um obviously I can own my mistake uh denting my limbs but that
goes to show they lasted forever I just wanted to get them replaced the Lift 29.5 just is a great
bow for me it will be my backup bow going into the fall and it is a bow that I will be taking to
well I took to San Antone TAC I'll be taking it to Red Lodge Montana and then it'll be my
backup bow slash probably antelope and I'm gonna use a thumb button and it's okay to have multiple
releases and releases set up for different bows in my opinion I do know that separation is in the
preparation and I know we're about to have a shootout so stay tuned for the next video where
we go Lift 29.5 versus Lift X 29.5 thumb button versus index we'll see who wins we'll catch on
the next one.
