This is the 6th and Cameron Kuchar, Matt's son.
He's become quite a player, works with Chris O'Connell.
For the birdie, short range to get to 5 under.
Matt Kuchar for birdie at the 8th.
Yeah, no doubt about it.
2nd at the 9th.
Kuchar has put together a torrent streak.
They birdied 8 of the first 9 holes.
Cameron Kuchar for birdie here at the 11th.
Another one falls.
Team Kuchar out and running in full force.
We are back on the tee at 13 with Cameron Kuchar.
This was while we were away.
Look at that ripple, wow.
Short par 4.
He can move it.
Oh, he reached the green.
Oh man.
That is some serious horsepower.
Well that's what the kids learned today.
It used to be rhythm and tempo.
Cameron looking for that eagle at 13 after that incredible drive.
The Kuchars just rolling along here, Peter.
That gets them to 11 under par and they have the outright lead.
Only 2 pars on the card through 13 holes.
2nd shot for Cameron Kuchar.
Looks like he's got just a hybrid.
Goes to showing his length.
Watch it from the left.
Puts a little more pressure on dad.
Got to make sure you do nothing crazy here.
Are you kidding me?
That's even worse.
Boy, you don't see that often.
So they'll be dropping it.
This has always been one of the strengths of his game.
He's so good with pitching and shipping.
Kind of like that.
Oh man.
Thought they might be able to get a birdie.
After all.
So that for par.
Doesn't make a big turn into the backswing.
But wow, the turn through the ball is impressive.
Wow.
Beautiful shot by Cameron.
That'll be tough for dad to better.
This is 16.
Cameron Kuchar lined up.
The sole leaders.
Oh man, has Cameron Kuchar hit some shots today?
Well I just love the way that he puts the club at the top of his
backswing.
It is perfectly on plane.
Big putt.
No problem.
Yep, they have not let those two water balls at 14 deter them.
And they have got the hammer down going down the stretch here.
Boy, does he swing like his dad.
That's an 8 iron.
Asking for it to go.
Oh yeah.
They are going to love that.
Smoked 8 iron.
Matt trying to hit a draw here from 203.
It's on a good line relative to the right side of the green.
Will it hang on though?
It will.
Extra speed.
He had it.
Tap in birdie though.
Stress free one for the Kuchars.
Who you can bet will have the memory of Matt's dad with them tomorrow
as they try to put this special tournament away.
The scores are the best we've ever seen in the history of this championship.
It's kind of the kids getting used to this environment.
Cameron Kuchar spins another one in there.
That's what we've seen from Cameron as he heads to TCU next year.
I mean, this is a formality.
Cameron's just been walking him in from 8, 10 feet away.
How about this front nine card?
You're going to see a new PNC championship record, folks.
Great story lines as Kuchar looks for another birdie here.
Just bangs it home.
With his approach into this 11th hole.
Can anybody slow the Kuchars down?
I mean, he just keeps delivering shot after shot after shot.
Dailies have already tapped in, so this for another one for Team Kuchar.
And this guy has just been automatic.
How's that?
And that's quite the run here.
This looks good here.
Wow.
Nice.
You could tear an ACL trying to return one of his serves, by the way,
with all that spin on it.
Yep, Cameron Kuchar.
How many of those have we seen them walk in?
He's just been amazing with the flat stick today,
just putting with so much confidence.
It's one of the better performances we've ever seen in this championship.
I'm talking dads, moms, fathers.
I mean, just one after another, like automatic.
Tell you what, they're reading these greens really well,
in addition to obviously getting the putt started on line.
Nearly skipped it in.
Wow.
Yeah, they really have.
I mean, there's no question.
They came out here this weekend with one goal,
and a second wasn't going to be it.
They have crushed the record of 28 under.
Now it's 31.
And remember, 18 is a reachable par 5.
Well, that's what Cameron said last night after the first round.
Somebody asked him, what's your goal tomorrow?
Have fun?
He goes, to win.
That is it, to win.
It jumps behind him at impact.
Huge swing.
Sending one up the left side.
This needs a friendly first bounce to be okay.
That is cozy on that left side by the water.
It's fine.
Of course it is.
Matt trying to draw one in there.
This finish.
Well, I guess he should have hit.
He was fighting off tears just a few moments ago,
and now they're back.
And in between, he just flushed a second shot that had ideas of going in.
You just can't dream it up any better.
Cameron Kuchar putting the finishing touches on a magical
and memorable week that will be in the Kuchar annals forever.
It was just never any question.
The moment the Kuchars teed it up.
Yesterday.
Carson on the bag.
And Cameron said it last night after they finished the first round,
I've got one goal in mind, to win.
And they started out, and they were on fire.
Blows away the tournament record of 28 under by five.
They go 33 under.
It's the largest winning margin in this format by seven shots.
It's the lowest round in tournament history at 54.
It doesn't get any better than this.
Join me in congratulating this year's champion, Matt and Cameron Kuchar.
Congratulations, guys.
And, Rob, if you and John will help hand out the Willie Park belts
to the champions.
Congratulations.
All right, I want to talk to the champions.
And, Cam, I want to start with you.
You guys go out there 18 under par, record-setting score.
Simply, what was the winning formula today?
Hit it close, make pots, really.
I was lucky today.
I just partied really, really well.
And then when I missed, my dad backed me up, and he made it.
So that made it a lot easier.
It did look pretty easy out there.
Matt, you've won a lot of tournaments across the globe.
We saw you get emotional walking up 18.
I know this is a family affair for you.
This is the first time you've been here without your father,
who sadly passed away earlier this year.
What were you processing as you were walking up 18?
It was certainly tough for me.
Dad is missed.
I definitely got very emotional there coming in,
thinking about this moment
and how much it would mean to Dad if he was here.
I know Pop's giving big fist pumps up in the sky.
I definitely want to say a big thanks to PNC, to Rob, your whole team.
This has been a family favorite event of us since we got started.
Such a big event for Dad, for my family.
We get to bring people together.
And I think when you can be with family,
you can make special memories.
Whether we've been here, and I still remember Dad chunking a chip
from close to the water here.
Almost whiffed it, almost missed it.
They're memories whether you win or lose.
And for us to be here, I know Cam has had his eye
on these Willie Park belts for many years.
And now to do this, to know that Dad's looking down on us,
it chokes me up for sure.
Not only that, but you grew up in central Florida,
not too far away from the Ritz-Carlton Orlando here.
Does it feel kind of full circle to get a victory here,
especially a family one like this?
Yeah, it's a good point. It's a good point.
I've got one of my best friends from growing up.
Jeremy Anderson's here.
We've got a lot of local community that came out and supported us
and friends from a long time ago.
It's amazing what the game of golf does for you.
It kind of opens up so many doors.
And to be back here in central Florida, a special place.
I was born just down the road in Winter Park.
To be here is very, very special.
I'm grateful to be here.
I'm grateful to have ridden the coattails of Cameron today.
It was so much fun.
We put in a lot of work trying to get this thing.
He's been my training partner.
I know TCU's got a big-time stud heading their way.
I'm going to miss him when he goes, but super excited for him.
Congratulations, Matt.
Congratulations, Cameron.
You're winners of the PNC Championship.
Happy holidays to both.
