Newport Beach. Well, next up on court two, it's quarter-final time.
Away we go with our second semi-final, quarter-final even, on court two, here in Newport Beach.
The lighter coloured shirts at the far end, it's the Brazilian duo, number three seeds Ivandro and Arthur.
This is quarter-final stage, Mathis Bernsen and Hendrik Moll, one of several cousin teams out there on tour.
Hendrik Moll, the older brother of Anders.
Damien Schumann, I get the feeling Brazil are going to look to overpower this Norwegian team.
He's going to just be hitting the ball as hard as he possibly can, all the time.
This time Arthur not getting to the ball, but already Brazil creating, ended up coming out on top.
So a really big chance for Bernsen and Moll mentally to overcome that as well.
Nice work.
Four-three Norway at the first side switch.
Time to mention the breeze that you can probably hear on those courtside microphones.
It's blustering towards the passing and the setting.
You've just got to allow for that ball to be just thrown towards the left of screen.
A little lucky there. You saw how much that ball moved in the wind.
Fixed serve, dealt with nicely by Arthur and that is some snap on the ball.
That is an excellent victory against the American, Sheldon Shaw, by two sets to one in the round of 12.
Arthur's looking really sprightly at the moment.
There's always a dark side to every way you go about it.
I'd be labelled as a good-ish teammate, but at times I probably need to be a little bit stronger.
So it's always light and shade with everything.
Old school.
Impressive stuff from Evandro and a very nicely located set as well by Arthur.
And his best, nice and well above the antenna.
That's a great pass.
Oh my goodness me, what a play from Evandro.
Joe Mann is an interesting character, Evandro.
Moll finds another one, dealt with by Arthur.
It's that inside-to-out hit which Matthias Bernsen set up to cover.
They just keep going up and down Brazil, don't they?
They don't really move too far away from the very familiar conditions for them.
Change-up serve from Arthur.
Work again from Norway.
It's an important side-out. They gave the ball back to Brazil rather too easily.
Evandro, 6'11", where do you go?
Blocking a hard place.
Too good, too good.
Preserve routine from Arthur, then he gets lucky off the net.
This is huge for Norway. Even if they go down 18-17 on the end switch, this is massive.
Got to make the most of this. This is a real chance.
The serve is huge.
It's a great pick-up.
And again, he knew where it was going to be hit, he just couldn't get there.
And Brazil, a big serve coming.
A serve, as he bounces it out of the arena.
And it's three set points, Brazil.
Norway did a huge amount of work to come back, said us all, but gone away for them.
Absolute rocket.
And nothing going for Norway.
Away we go then with set number two, Norway chasing the game in this second men's quarterfinal out here on court two.
Brazil, in the light grey top start.
Very nice work.
Gets himself out of a sticky spot there because he really should have put the ball away before the block and he knows it.
Evandro.
They've been blown out of the water in the second.
Yeah, that is actually the case, isn't it, in all their scores.
They've competed in set one.
And that's what Evandro does so well with.
On it. Point chance again for Brazil.
Taken.
And they are running riot in this second set.
Just the force that he kicked up with that pace line, so there's a bit of trauma for him.
More trauma delivered.
Brazil can score again.
To Bernston, not giving up.
Good hit, good ace.
Oh, well played.
Just enjoys it more than anyone else.
What this time though.
Brazil hang on to a three-point cushion.
Nice.
One of the games I was commentating on.
Classic Southern California comment.
Hey referee.
But it was a dick, to be fair.
That ball stays hit when Evandro gets through it.
Pushing on the ball from Arthur.
Another tricky play for Norway to make.
And Evandro's doing his job in this set.
He's really putting up some excellent blocks.
Hendrik is getting served.
That's his 20th reception for the game.
Change up on the speed of attack.
And Arthur's read that very well indeed.
Whether 16-12, there's a slim chance.
Set just drifts over.
Play well in the qualification process.
You never know.
But for now, definitely Evandro and Arthur
definitely have the wood over Brazil.
Even though, have a look at that serve from Boll.
Just nice to see.
New players might not have found it
quite as amusing as Evandro.
Oh.
Took his time, wiped his feet, went over.
But Norway, magnificent comebacks this season.
Norway find their way back into the game.
Chance to score.
Taken.
OK, there's one of them.
Been a brave second set under trying circumstances for Norway.
Another chance.
That's a good hustle from Brazil.
Norway get a ball control to swing on.
And Berndsen's done it again.
But I dare say, after that rev up in the timeout,
the point's not going to be gentle.
No, here comes Arthur.
Hits it hard.
Into the seam.
Beats the block. Beats the defender.
So they can find the serve.
It's Boll.
Good athleticism.
Gets out wide. Makes the most of the set.
Big serves required.
They need to get Brazil out of system.
And it goes into the net instead.
Brazil are through to the semifinals.
How's that for a celebration?
They've beaten Norway in straight sets.
