Archaeologists Discover New Neanderthal Sister Species?
Ancient Hominins - Archaeologists Reveal Secrets of Our Ancestors. In the 1980s, the Out of Africa hypothesis (that humans evolved in and spread out of Africa) supplanted the Out of Asia and multiregional hypotheses. In Western thought, Peking Man shifted from the epicenter of human origins to a dead offshoot. Nonetheless, Every now and then there's a new piece of evidence that shakes up what we thought we knew about the origin of our species. For example, An analysis of an ancient skull from East Asia indicates that it is eerily similar to the earliest known fossils of our species, which were discovered in Morocco, some 10,000 kilometers to the west. The skull suggests that modern humans are not solely descended from African ancestors, as is commonly believed, according to a highly compelling recent study, titled ‘ A multivariate assessment of the Dali hominin cranium from China: Morphological affinities and implications for Pleistocene evolution in East Asia’, published in the 'American Journal of Physical Anthropology'.
