Secrets of the Neanderthals Discovered in a Remote Cave
New Study Claims Neanderthals Could Have Lived in Africa (Nubia). When hominins began to make stone tools, they ceased being an animal chasing other animals, and started on the path to becoming human. Nevertheless, Sites where hominin fossils are directly associated with stone tool assemblages are rare, but studying both fossils and tools is critical for understanding hominin occupations throughout the Old World. As of now, no direct evidence of Neanderthals have been found in Africa, but this assumption may now have to change due to a recent discovery. According to a statement issued by the 'Max Planck Institute of Geo-anthropology', an international team of scientists has conducted a new analysis of a tooth and stone tools discovered in Shukbah Cave, located in the Judaean Mountains less than 200 miles from Africa. The researchers discovered a molar from a Neanderthal child aged about nine, making the cave the southernmost known Neanderthal site. Furthermore, stone tools classified as Nubian Levallois-type have been linked to the Neanderthal tooth.
