How Architects Designed a Family Home on a 5-Meter-Wide Urban Lot | Casa HR
Located in the traditional neighborhood of El Golf, Las Condes, this single-family house responds to an extremely narrow and irregular plot, with a frontage of just over five meters that widens toward the rear in an L-shape.
The house is positioned as far forward as possible, aligning the program with the geometry of the land to optimize space, accommodate parking, and create a more private rear garden. The ground floor hosts interconnected social areas—kitchen, dining, and living spaces—linked through large sliding doors that fully open to the terrace.
A narrow second floor organizes bedrooms along a linear bay, culminating in a rotated volume that follows the site’s shape and houses the master suite, while creating a covered terrace below. Natural light is carefully integrated through light patios, skylights, and projecting corridor volumes that bring depth and brightness to the interior.
Exposed concrete, heat-treated wood, and an industrial yet warm material palette define the architecture, complemented by a long elevated pool and a compact outdoor barbecue area that complete this efficient urban home.
