SURFING THE BACKDOOR SHOOTOUT, THE HEATS BARRELS AND BEATDOWNS!

The backdoor shootout is on. 20 second period. Pipe is flexing. And we're heat 6, heat 2 is in the water. Look at this set. Oh, is this the first second read of the day? Look at this wave! Are you kidding me? Go somebody! Go, go, go, go! Me, Ivan, Koa. Heat 6. It's just getting bigger and bigger. That was the biggest set of the day so far. Oh my gosh, look at the barrel! It's been coming in crazy mutant and double up. Pipe's firing, we're on. I got my 6.8 I borrowed from John. I broke all mine. And wearing my aero shield because it's super gnarly. And we're on. 11, 12. Does that get warm in the sun? On like a hot day like today? What get warm in the sun? No, because it's perforated. Water flows through over your skin like a little AC system. Hopefully we get a good heat. You never know with this pipe. It's looking very promising. Me, Ivan, Koa, Makua, and Jose Angel. We headin' out in a little bit. Couple of in-mornings, so much swell. I think it's the strongest one. And it's just a normal next step model. 6A, volume, 30 liters. And pipe looks 6 to 8 to 10 foot. Most waves 6 to 8 and a few 10 footers coming in. Currently, Ivan is in number one position. We've had kind of slower heats. There's been one pretty good one. One or two pretty good ones per heat. Ivan's managed to patiently wait and be on those waves. He's accumulated three good scores. He's leading into day four. Final day of the shootout. We'll see if he can hold on to it. Hopefully he gets some good waves. We got two heats today. Hopefully I can get some good waves. We'll have a good final day. See if Mr. Cool can pull it off. Waves were challenging from day one to heavy treacherous pipeline. Maybe I surfed pipeline on day one like that maybe 10 times in my whole life. I've been surfing out here for 30 years. It was scary and gnarly. Next day was huge big onshore even more gnarly in a different way. We ended up with two beautiful days and we got beautiful chances to catch some epic waves here.
