Kathy Hilton opens her Bel Air mention to ET's Brice Sander for an exclusive tour of her holiday decor and set-up for her annual Christmas party, featuring a toy drive for Children's Hospital LA and the LA Mission, as well as food from family favorite The Cheesecake Factory! Kathy shows off her perfectly curated collection of decor, with nearly a dozen trees inside -- and another dozen outside! As she puts the finishing touches on her decorations, Kathy spills 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' secrets. She's back as a 'friend of' on season 15, airing Thursdays on Bravo and streaming on Peacock.
Hey ET, welcome to my home for the holidays. Come on, I'll give you the tour.
Are you Mrs. Claus this time of year more than you are Mrs. Hilton?
I am Mrs. Claus.
So okay, we're busy setting up for your annual Christmas party.
Yes.
When does the mind start tinkering of what all we want Christmas to look like?
Beginning of October.
Okay, so it's like a two-month process.
So September I'm thinking and I think I have to start thinking in January or February.
And then we have all these wonderful gifts. We have a whole other shipment coming in tomorrow.
This is for Children's Hospital LA. You give back every year.
And the Children's Hospital LA and then the LA Mission.
Okay, so that's the cost of entry to your party. People got to bring a gift.
Exactly, exactly. This guy I want to hug.
He's very cute. Yeah, do you get tempted or do your grandkids get tempted of like,
I want to keep this one, but it's not for them?
You know, what's funny is they came in the other day, the two, Paris's two,
and they're like this. They're only two.
Two and then...
They're little guys.
Right. So Phoenix and Linda come in, they're like,
like, they're looking at each other like, can we have this?
They didn't touch anything.
Okay.
Only ET got the exclusive invite inside Kathy Hilton's 15,000 square foot Bel Air mansion
48 hours before her famous family and friends like Demi Lovato, Selma Blair, Tiffany Haddish,
and Evan Ross partied alongside 250 guests in this winter wonderland.
How many trees do you have this year?
One, two, three, four, five, six, and then downstairs.
And then I'm going to put one in the playroom.
Okay. So we're on the edge of 10 trees here.
Now we're in the library, which is kind of classic Christmas,
the tartan, the red, the green.
Right? The real traditional. And every year we add something different.
You see, we have the candlestick on top from Pinocchio.
Yes. I feel like I'm at Disneyland.
I know. And then these are, I've been collecting these our entire marriage.
The Annalie tree, the Annalie.
The little doll face.
The little doll faces. Yes. And they're big.
This one fell down. I think he's a little drunk.
So that'll be Kris Jenner after your party on Saturday.
No, she's a well-behaved girl.
Every year I have the children's baby shoes.
The shoes that like Paris and Nikki wore?
Uh-huh. There's some around here.
Over here, let's see the stockings. This I took from BravoCon.
What do you mean you took from BravoCon?
I took it off the table. We did a Christmas special.
You took the set decoration from Watch What Happens Live?
I did. I did.
You just take the one?
I thought it would be, I took one. I didn't want to be too nervy.
And then I got these. They brought them by today.
Cheesecake Factory is doing the food for your party.
They're doing some of the food. I have my chef doing food.
Okay. Where does the love of Cheesecake Factory start for you?
Because don't you go like once a week on a date night?
We do. We like it because we just go in the ambiance in Beverly Hills.
All of them are. Las Vegas. It's easy. The lighting is dim. It's kind of romantic.
We are in a very blue Christmas, Kathy.
It's a blue Christmas, that's certain.
How much of this do you do yourself?
Well, I used to do all of it and now I have helpers because,
I mean, I stand there and I do and I tell them exactly what I want.
I never, I don't know how to light a tree.
Okay.
Never, ever, ever. Don't let it hang garland.
I guess I could if I had to and I'm not great with bows, but I'm great with placing ornaments.
I'm kind of like wondering about.
About the blue? I feel like that makes the whole tree.
You do?
Yes.
And I like to just put these in different places
and I don't feel like they all have to be open the same way.
And Patty put them, I guess she wants to.
Who's Patty?
Patty is my elf that helps me.
But I'm just wondering.
You're going to mess with Patty's work now.
Well, it's my tree.
I guess you have the final say. It is your house.
It is my tree.
Now this I got yesterday at Target.
Okay, so you, it's high and low.
It's like wherever you can, wherever the Christmas joy strikes, you take it.
Exactly. I'm over buying expensive, expensive ornaments.
Yeah.
Unless I see something.
You can't live without.
But I know, you know, I know what you pay.
How long do you leave your decorations up?
Because it's so much work to get it all there
and then it makes the house feel so warm and cozy.
You never want to take it down.
But then like January, the clock starts ticking up.
Well, I've kept it up till March.
So this is Santa's workshop.
We're hard at work with party prep in here.
Of course, every party needs a champagne vending machine.
They also have all the essentials to make floral centerpieces
that start at $350 each.
Do you let people walk away with centerpieces from your parties?
Like if somebody wants to walk out with flowers?
Are all the housewives invited or did anybody make the naughty list?
Yes.
No, everybody, they've been very well behaved.
Okay.
Yeah.
Read the room and know your place.
Well, we saw you in that trailer.
You're like, know your place.
No one has time to speak.
Are you Miss Manners this season?
What's your vibe on housewives?
Well, I mean, I was just trying to give her some advice.
I'm like, I can't tell you, you gotta watch.
I'm gonna guess Amanda.
You'll have to wait and see.
What was the surprise for you of this season of housewives?
I would say a lot of surprises.
I would say that the Erica, Kyle, and Jareed.
Do you think they can get back to a place?
I hope so.
You know, you have to give it enough time,
but yet you need to not wait too long
because I feel like if you wait too long...
Time can heal, but it can also break completely.
Then it's like out of sight, out of mind.
Really? Okay, fine.
I'm good.
I'm not going anywhere.
I am.
We do see that one moment when you guys are on the cast trip,
I think, where Jareed tells you,
I'm done with the sitting back.
And when she unleashed on you...
I was like, wow.
Those days of me sitting there, grinning and bearing it,
swallowing it, taking it.
Those days are over.
Cathy, do you want me to put your bag somewhere?
You know, I just don't want to have it on the ground.
A pair of jeans out of your bag.
What I love about you on Housewives
is all the kooky things we didn't know you did,
like pull jeans out of purses, scissors out of purses.
When you think about it, it's not a state dinner.
It's not a formal dinner
where I'm supposed to have the gift wrap.
And I on purpose take things out of bags
and it was on my desk.
So I thought, you know what?
If I don't bring this now, I'm going to forget.
And I thought we'd enter through the house
and I would just hand it to her, but we didn't.
We were told to go on the side, out and sit on the lawn.
So I don't want to put my purse on the floor.
That one I'll excuse.
What's the story of pulling out scissors
and starting just hacking at the hat you're wearing?
I didn't have scissors in my purse.
Okay.
The man that works for Sutton.
Okay.
I had said, because this string had been hanging in my face,
the ribbon when the wind would blow or whatever,
and it was annoying me.
So I said, can I have a little scissor
just so I could cut that off?
Okay.
I was like, why is she carrying around
a full thing of scissors?
Well, I do carry a lot of different things on my back.
That's for sure.
I think I've asked you to show me
what's in your bag a couple of times
and it's always a surprise.
It's always a surprise.
Always.
All right.
I'm glad we clarified those two things.
Yes.
I'm very glad we did.
The people needed to know Kathy.
I'm hungry.
The La Boo Boo voice has become its own thing.
Is that surprised you that people
want to hear that all the time?
I love it.
Do you have something to say about Christmas
in your La Boo Boo voice?
Yes.
Okay.
Close your eyes.
I always make everybody close their eyes.
I'm missing you.
I'm very happy Christmas Day.
And be happy.
Santa will not like it if you don't.
Love you.
Where did the La Boo Boo voice come from?
Because I feel like this is a voice you've just had.
I have.
And you've now assigned to La Boo Boo.
I have.
But I've assigned it because I'd say,
me tired, me hungry.
I don't usually use words like that.
Me tired, me hungry.
And then I let it linger on a little bit.
Why not?
I think, you know, as long as it's making the people happy,
keep doing it.
It's making them happy.
And now they're doing a La Boo Boo movie.
Yeah.
You should voice a character in it.
I hope so.
I hope they think of me.
This is a very, another blue Christmas room,
but this is chinoiserie.
Yes, yes.
A very thematic room, Kathy.
Do you and Rick still exchange presents and do all that?
Yes.
Okay.
Just something.
He gets the same.
He knows what he's getting every year.
What does he get every year?
A sweater.
And my son-in-law's the same thing.
And my boys.
Hey, everyone needs a sweater.
You always need a new sweater.
Can we get a sneak peek of where the main party takes place?
Kathy, it's like a balloon-a-palooza in here.
This is wild.
I know.
Isn't this fabulous?
It makes it so cozy.
And I love the, it's just such a nice vintage feeling.
This is very cool.
This reminds me, there's like a scene in the Sex and the City movie
where they're at a restaurant
and the whole restaurant is like this.
There is a whole lot of love in this room.
This is a cozy spot, Kathy.
Yes, this, these are actually the party favors.
Oh, so if you come to the Hilton holiday party, you leave.
Yes.
With a blanket.
There's Christmas everywhere you look in your house.
Another room full of Christmas trees.
This is like a nutcracker tree.
Where does all of this live when it's not Christmas?
Well, this is going to live.
This is actually going to be a great storage for me
because I'm not moving this tree.
Okay, so this space will be Christmas year-round if you come to Kathy's.
I think we could make this kind of like a museum.
It's like a Bel Air Disneyland.
Right?
And did you see, look at the gumdrop tree here.
Oh, there's a tree within a tree, people.
Now, so this is, is this the dance floor for the party?
What is this space?
This is where Paris will be DJing.
And the good news is we don't have to pay her.
Yeah, because she's, I think she charges a little bit.
She's, she's, she can be expensive, that girl.
And then I have my trees out here.
If you had to predict what housewife will find herself
in the most trouble at your party, who would you put your money on?
In the most trouble?
I don't know.
Maybe Jennifer and Sutton or me.
Maybe the trio of you.
Right, exactly.
Were you there for, your sister has teased this big blowout fight
on the level of the Amsterdam dinner that you were not at.
Right.
Were you there for the version that took place this season?
Which one?
Okay.
That's what I'm saying.
That's what this season is all about.
It's pretty crazy.
I was at a very vulnerable place in my life and I felt hard for this person.
Kyle very candidly discusses dating after Mo and how she was in a relationship
and she had to call it off because the world kind of got too loud for the person she was with.
What's it like to watch your sister navigate this and be so vulnerable in this stage of life?
Well, I just want her to be happy and whatever she wants, just be happy.
Yeah.
You know, life's too short.
Life's too short.
She seems like she's found the path to happy at this point.
I hope so.
Who can't be happy when it's Christmas time?
Even if it's 80 degrees.
Even if it's, I wish it would get a little cooler.
Thank you once again, Kathy, for letting us crash your home for the holidays.
Any other surprises you have in store for your guests
that you're so excited for them to experience?
Well, the caroling is always nice.
What is your number one Christmas song that you have to hear the carolers sing?
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Everywhere you go.
Thank you for letting us invade your space.
It's, you've outdone yourself this year, Kathy.
Thank you.
Or I should say, Mrs. Claus.
Thank you.
