Concrete House by Ravel Architecture is a 600-square-foot backyard casita in Austin, Texas, designed as a flexible extension of an active family home. Drawing from the traditional forms of the surrounding historic neighborhood, the building creates privacy while buffering the main house from a busy alley. A weathering corten steel gable shell encloses a concrete core, combining durability with warmth, while the interior is finished in white oak and organized with adaptable spaces for play, media, guests, and storage. High-performance insulated concrete walls enhance comfort and energy efficiency, demonstrating how compact architecture can thoughtfully support diverse family needs.
