'Arietta' is one of Grieg's most popular works and is part of the 'Little Lyrical Pieces', as it was originally titled in the earliest editions. He was just 24 when these delightful, easily playable miniatures were published. Since then, they have helped many piano students to discover classical music. In 1867, Grieg could never have imagined that nine more books of Lyric Pieces would follow; the series ended in 1901 with Book Ten.
