Hi everyone, welcome to Cook Stacey Cook. Today we are making shrimp in savory sauce over rice.
This is a delicious and easy alternative to fried rice. The shrimp is succulent and very tasty,
and every bite of the rice is wrapped in the flavorful sauce. This kind of sauce over rice
dish is perfect for anyone looking for a quick, delicious, and satisfying meal. And I make it for
my family quite often. I will show you how easy it is to make this dish. Let's get started.
We will start by finely mincing three cloves of garlic. Then cut two green onions into small
pieces. Keep the pieces from the stem part and the leafy part separate because we will use them
at different times during cooking. Now the shrimp, remove the shell and rinse it under cold water
and then pat it dry. Marinate it with salt, a touch of sugar, some white pepper powder,
cornstarch, and a little bit of water. Mix it up evenly and then mixing a touch of sesame oil.
We will also need to crack and beat up one large egg. The last thing we need to prepare is some
unsalted chicken broth. Add some cornstarch to it and stir the chicken broth until all the
cornstarch dissolves. Now we are ready to cook. In a rice cooker, add rice and water at the ratio
of one pot rice to one and a half pot water and get the rice cooker started. If you don't have a
rice cooker, you can make the rice in a regular pot over medium-low heat. Now let's move on to
cooking the shrimp. Add some oil to a hot pan over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot,
add the shrimp to the pan and spread it out. Let it pan fry until the bottom is slightly brown.
Then turn it over to pan fry the other side. Add the stem part of the green onion immediately
after you turn the shrimp over. Let the green onion sizzle in the oil as the shrimp pan fries.
When both sides of the shrimp are slightly brown, add the minced garlic to the pan and mix it with
the green onion. Let the minced garlic sizzle in the oil briefly. Then we can add the chicken broth
and cornstarch mixture to the pan. Make sure you stir the mixture before adding it because
cornstarch tends to settle on the bottom. Stir the chicken broth as it comes up to a boil to make
sure it thickens up evenly. Season the broth with some salt before it boils. Once the chicken broth
thickens up into a sauce and starts to boil, we can pour the egg into the sauce. Stir the sauce
as you pour in the egg. The egg will be cooked instantly and we are looking for a silky texture.
Once you pour in all the egg, we can add the leafy part of the green onion,
a touch of sesame oil, and some white pepper powder. Stir the sauce to mix everything evenly
and we are done. All we have to do now is pour the shrimp with the creamy delicious sauce over
the rice and we are ready to dig in. This shrimp in savory sauce over rice is so delicious and
satisfying. The shrimp is succulent and savory with a hint of natural sweetness. The rice is
mixed with the delicious sauce so every bite is full of flavors. I hope you will give this simple
and delicious dish a try. If you find today's video useful, please share it with your friends
