Hi friends! I hope you're doing well. Today I am so excited for today's video because
we're going to be doing a full face of vintage makeup. Now I don't mean like actual vintage,
but I was thinking to myself like I wonder what products are still available out there that have
existed for a really long time. Now for some of you watching you might be like what? I did not
consider this vintage. Maybe you remember when it launched. This is supposed to just be like
a trip down memory lane. Now honestly some of these products are very old. One of these products
specifically is older than probably all of us watching. So I'm so excited. It was so fun for
me to kind of do a little bit of research and figure out what years things launched and I
felt so much nostalgia just by doing the research. So let's get right into it. I'm going to start
with complexion. Now vintage for me to make sure that it's something that existed I wanted things
that existed before the 2000s or like early 2000s if it were in the 2000s and we got a full face.
So I'm really really excited. We're gonna start off with something that I didn't realize had
launched so long ago you guys. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. Do you guys know that
this launched in 1997? I didn't know that. So again a lot of you watching might be like 1997
that doesn't feel like too long ago. I was three years old at the time. So that's kind of crazy
right? Like I didn't realize that it had been around for that long. Now this cap I got off of
Amazon. Thanks to you guys you told me about that pump cap that fits the Estee Lauder bottles because
I hated dumping it out. This is so much better. So I'm going to go ahead and take a bit of this.
This shade might be a little deep for me right now but I'm in a turtleneck so I think it'll work
out. This is the shade 1N2A Crew and I'm going to go ahead and take this on my BK Beauty brush
and we're going to start to apply this all over. Now this is a classic foundation. It's something
that all of us have heard about I'm sure. I just didn't know it's been around for that long. Now
little disclaimer some of these things have technically been slightly reformulated to you
know improve things. But in general you know these are things that have been around for a long time.
Some of the things have a very close formulation to when they were first launched. It's just so
fun for me to like see and research and think through. But yeah in 1997 Double Wear came to
the market. Apparently this has since been improved but it's always been known for the
By the way you guys I would love it if you're watching this like as I pull out these products
and if it's bringing back memories or taking you or making you feel nostalgic in any way like
please comment because I know there's some of you watching who are gonna have you know some
memories flooding back with some of these products. And also if there's something that
I haven't talked about in this video that you know still exists that maybe you've been buying
for a long time or you know something that got you into makeup I would love to hear your stories
because I feel like that's something about makeup that is so fun. There's so much nostalgia around
it because you know all of us I feel like if you're watching this anyway you probably have
pretty vivid beauty memories right? Like I do. I know exactly what my first foundation was. I
remember all of it. It was the CoverGirl Clean like the triangular bottle. That was my first
foundation and I bought the completely wrong shade. It was very orange for me but this was
before Pinterest and everything so it wasn't as easy to know what to do with your makeup. It's
just so fun to think about. It's so fun to like reminisce on some of these products and some of
these products I didn't know about until way later and now researching things it's fun to see like
how long they've actually been around and how classic they truly are. This next product really
actually surprised me. There were some concealers that were like pretty popular now that still
exist but they were launched in like the mid-2000s so I was like I really want to find something that
was launched a long time ago that's still pretty iconic and luckily I have this in my stash. So
this is from Clé de Peau. This is their concealer which originally launched in 1982. It has since
been a really classic product that I've heard about from makeup artists so it's something that
just like stood the test of time. It's a stick concealer. It's quite thick but you have to use
this right and when you do use it right it's actually really really nice. I have a blemish we
could test it on because it's a really good like thick concealer that you can spot conceal with.
It's also good under the eyes if you prep things right. Now this I found an article talking about
this that said at the time of its introduction in 1982 the concealer was called Spots Veil
but then in 1991 they changed the name to The Concealer. So we are going to use this. It's like
a super thick formula. I personally like to use it with my fingertips when I do use it because I
feel like I'm able to like really melt it into the skin. So I'm going to go in with this underneath
the eyes and you can kind of see how thick it is hopefully but it really does melt into the skin
which is why I personally like to use it with my finger. Let's see. You can tell it really does
cover up nicely. My skin is having a moment. I don't know what's going on. I um I've been using
a few new things and uh unfortunately I used like a few new things and I don't know what
made my skin kind of freak out but something is making my skin not as happy so I've got some
blemishes to deal with. That's okay. I'm just gonna take this and press it into my under eye area.
I'll use a bit on my chin. Let's see. Let's go around the nose. I've got a bit of redness there
and we'll take some of what's left and apply that to the eyelid. This is a very expensive concealer
like don't ask me why it's as expensive as it is. I really don't know. It is beautiful but
I'm not sure why the price is so high to be honest um but it is cool that it's been around for as
long as it has. By the way to set the vibes for me today I am wearing this little number Chanel
number five which I had a little sample of. I've only worn this like once really liked it and now
after my research I was like wait I need to wear that again. I love this scent. I it's funny because
you know I've heard about the scent for years right? I knew this perfume had been around for
a long time but I didn't actually know how long. This was released in 1921 you guys. That's so
fun and I was doing a lot of research and there's a lot of perfumes actually that were launched a
long time ago but that have since been a little bit reformulated so like the notes are inspired by
what it originally was. Chanel number five is actually one of the closest perfumes. According
to my research it has stayed the most similar to when it first launched. I think this smells so
good. When I first smelled this back in the day when I was younger I didn't like it. I feel like
my taste was different at the time. Now that I'm in my 30s this feels so classy to me and I really
love it and I feel like I need to maybe one day like treat myself to a bottle of number five
because I just feel like it's a rite of passage almost to own Chanel number five. I don't know.
So I wanted to kind of point that out too because how fun and I'm smelling something that has
existed since 1921. Over 100 years that's crazy. Golly it's good. Okay here is a blast from the
past and I have used this on my channel. It was forever ago and every time I used it you guys
pop off in the comments and you know I feel like there's a lot of people who have good memories of
this powder. So this my friends is the Cody Airspun powder and it even says here established
in 1935. This literally launched in 1935 and it's still available today which is so fun. I have never
really loved love this powder because of the smell. Now I know some of you guys say like oh my
gosh the smell is my favorite part. Let's revisit this because again I'm 30 something now maybe my
taste has changed. You know it's very strong. It's very very strong but it kind of smells like candy.
I don't know. I just got the translucent shade. They have a few different shades and I'm just
gonna go ahead and press this underneath the eyes. I want to know like how many of you guys
know about this powder? How many of you have used it for years? Do you have memories of your mom or
grandma using this powder? I want to hear you guys in the comments. I know somebody's got a story.
One of you have to have memories with this powder because for it to be around for this long
1935 huh? Someone. I mean a lot of you probably have memories of this right? It's funny because
I didn't never know about it until I started my YouTube channel. You know what? I don't mind the
scent anymore. Isn't it funny how like our tastes change? I feel like the older I get the more I
appreciate powdery scents. Chanel number five and the Cody Airspun powder. Gee whiz. I do feel like
I have a little bit of a old soul in me sometimes especially lately. I don't know. So this is really
nice. I don't mind the smell anymore you guys. I think it smells good. I remember like hating on
this powder being like ew I hate the smell and I never ever used it but to me it just smells like
sweet tarts. It's not as strong as I recall. I don't know maybe my scent tolerance has gone up.
All right next up is one that you guys definitely know about. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer. They have
since changed the packaging. This shade, the original shade, is what launched a while back.
They have since expanded the shade range. So I'm using the original color. This launched in 1999
which was after I was born but I'm sure some of you guys watching are maybe younger than this
bronzer which would be crazy. I'm gonna go ahead and take this. This is a cute like little
personalized one they sent me but I'm gonna take this on a fluffy brush and we're just gonna apply
this kind of all over. I didn't realize that this had been around since 1999. I really didn't know.
I thought that maybe I would have guessed mid-2000s you know. Like I don't know 2009 I would
have guessed. Maybe. Maybe even later. In my defense I feel like I wasn't really educated on higher end
anything. Like growing up I feel like I recall my mom using a lot of Clinique and that's about it.
Like any other makeup brand I didn't really know about she used a lot of Clinique growing up and
then I remember her perfume was Calvin Klein Eternity. Is that still around? I wonder if it's
still around. That's what she always wore. My mom also always wore. I've been thinking a lot about
this. I want to kind of get myself one. She wore this like really it's in my head. It's a watch
like a thinner watch with a black leather strap and she would wear out the strap because it was
she had constantly on like a really nice chic black watch. It's funny what we remember right
from growing up. I don't know how I got on that topic but oh because of Hoola. Like I didn't know
about Benefit. I didn't know about a lot of these brands until I started my YouTube channel honestly
or sort of watching other creators before I started my YouTube channel and then I started
to like you know go to Sephora which I never really grew up going to and all the rest. I of
course like knew about drugstore brands. That's where I got my start with makeup was drugstore
everything. Anyway this looks really good doesn't it? I usually really like Hoola Fair. The color
is really nice and sometimes you know when I'm not wearing a turtleneck it's a little more obvious
that it doesn't match my actual skin tone as well. It's a little bit too warm for me but with a
turtleneck on I feel like I can bronze up my skin a little more and nobody knows. All right let's
move on to blush. I'm sure maybe you guys could have guessed that the NARS Orgasm blush was
definitely going to be in today's video. This blush launched in 1999 which again I had no idea. So
this blush and Benefit Hoola launched in the same year. What icons? But I mean we all know about
this blush. We've all heard about this blush. How many of you guys like still wear these products?
I would love to hear. It's been a long time since I've worn Benefit Hoola and all the rest. I feel
like out of what I've shown you so far I feel like I still wear Double Wear maybe the most out of
everything. But even then so many new innovations. But this blush I mean it's famous for a reason.
It's got that golden glow underneath the pink and it's so healthy looking. It's really beautiful.
I mean some things are classics for a reason and some things stand the test of time for a reason.
This included. Wow that's really pretty. I don't remember the last time I wore this shade. Next up
we're going to go into brows. Now I couldn't find an exact date but apparently this is something
that's been around for a while. The problem with some drugstore launches I was just trying to find
a brow product that was like vintage kind of. This could have launched in the 2000s. I don't
know exactly. If anyone knows let me know. Anyway this is the Maybelline Expert Wear Twin Eye and
Brow Pencil. I got mine in the shade of medium brown but apparently this is one of the oldest
brow pencils that's still at the drugstore because that's the challenge right. It's finding
something that still exists. Anyway so I don't have like the exact date for this one but maybe
you guys know more than me. I've actually never even seen this product before so can someone tell
me. Do you have memories of this? How long has it been around? We're gonna fill in the brows with
this. The problem is it's very red. Oh no I should have maybe gone with hmm I chose medium brown.
Oh we can't have this. We can't have this. Maybe I should have gone with dark brown. How was I
supposed to know? I feel like the whole look was going well until it wasn't. You know what I mean?
So we're gonna have to not do that. I really I want it to be like a good makeup look because
so far it's such a good makeup look and I can't have this color brows. I won't allow it. We're
gonna pivot and I'm just gonna fill in my brows with my brow pencil. I want to hear in the comments
like what's a brow pencil that has been around for a long time that you guys like still use?
Because even the ones I'm like oh Benefit for example like their brow pencil was launched not
that long ago. So anyway okay let me just fill this in and then we'll get cracking on the rest of the
look. Dang it I'm bummed the color was so off. That would have been fun. The nice thing about this video
though especially if you guys like it um there's so many other products that you know have launched
that still exist as I was doing my research so I could definitely do more episodes of this if you
guys are interested and maybe we discover a brow pencil you know that's been around that I can use
instead of that one. I maybe I should have gotten a different color. It's hard to know sometimes at
the drugstore because like the swatches on the cardboard packaging don't always match the actual
shade inside. I just realized I've got like lip liner lines on my hand. My sweet two-year-old
was playing in here earlier and wanted to swatch it on my hand so that's that. She's so cute. She's
been so into makeup. It's really fun and you know I get um sent a lot of PR and so any kind of
collection that seems like something she would be into I set aside and she has her own like little
makeup bag. She's actually really good. She's only two. She'll be three this month but she knows where
everything goes and she like knows how to do her makeup and she does not make a big mess with it.
She just sits quietly and like applies her eyeshadow. It's so cute. But anyway she was playing in here
and I forgot to wipe off my hand. Okay next up I wanted to find an eyeshadow and this was a little
bit harder because again things get kind of reformulated or repackaged so sometimes especially
with drugstore products it's kind of hard to put a finger on what's been around and what hasn't and
all the rest. But these CoverGirl single eyeshadows have been around. This is new packaging though so
that's a little disclaimer. So I had my husband go grab, he and my daughter went to Walmart to grab
some of these, so I had him grab one of these and I swear to you I used these when I first started
getting into makeup with like I think it was black packaging or was that the Maybelline ones? I don't
know but a good single eyeshadow you just can't go wrong and like come on if this little foam
applicator doesn't scream nostalgia I don't know what does. So I'm gonna do my eyeshadow with that.
Why don't we do a little bit of Benefit Hoola first. I feel like a lot of eyeshadows that were
on the market before some of these um were like MAC single eyeshadows, Bobbi Brown it seemed like.
Some of those products I didn't have a chance to like order. That's why I think it'd be fun to
continue this as like a series if you guys are into it because you know I could try a lot more
if I had more time to like order things because some of them aren't available in stores anymore.
Anyway let's go ahead and apply this with a foam applicator because it just wouldn't be like a
vintage makeup tutorial without that. And I want to hear from you guys like foam applicators yes or
no? It's been a long time honestly since I've used one but I do feel like it kind of does the trick
right? Um what shade is this by the way? This is Tapestry Taupe. It's a really pretty plastic taupe.
Now I feel like since the 1990s and you know 2000s even eyeshadow has been something that
has been really improved. I feel like the formulas are quite innovative. I feel like you know the
performance is really beautiful. So that is something to take note of. I feel like maybe
that's why it's hard to find true vintage eyeshadows because the technology is just so much
better now. But that's pretty right? A little taupey shimmer. That's another product where there's not
like a solid year but somewhere in the 90s says the internet. Those covergirl eyeshadows came into
place. Okay next this is also one that didn't have quite a specific date but the Wet n Wild
Colorstay Kohl Eyeliners launched somewhere in the 1990s to early 2000s we think. I say we think
because there was not that many like articles anymore on the internet to like find a launch day
for some of these products. They just kind of existed at the drugstore before the internet if
they were around or like I don't know it was just kind of hard sometimes to find exact dates. But
this is the yeah Color Icon Kohl Eyeliner and this is a brown shade. Goodness me this packaging is so
packaged. Like it's so hard for me to open this. Ouch. I was also looking up nail polishes like
it seems like there's a lot of classic colors from brands like OPI and Essie. So that would
also be fun to kind of do in maybe my next episode is like go get a polish that's been
around for a while and all the rest. Okay this is driving me nuts. Hang on. Who knew it would be so
hard to open this. Okay here is this Kohl Eyeliner. Oh it's a nice deep brown. So let's go ahead and
apply this and kind of warm it up on the back of my hand. There we go. It's a nice. Ow. Kind of hurts
though to be honest. A nice brown shade but it's a little bit waxy for my preference. Tugging a bit
but it's a nice color for sure. All right for mascara. Now this is one that some of you are
probably going to be like oh when I hold this up. Are you ready? It has some Coty Airspun powder on
Okay let's try that again. Ready? I mean come on like do you even know makeup if you don't know
this mascara. That's how I feel. This was my very first mascara that I ever bought on my 13th
birthday when I was allowed to wear makeup and it's one that my mom used and my sister used.
This is Maybelline Great Lash. This my friends launched in 1971. How crazy. Let's get into this.
Now this is quite a watery formula. Doesn't do much for the lashes but I mean it's so classic
and you know I feel like there's a aesthetic that you achieve when you use this. It's very much like
a barely there type of mascara. It doesn't add much volume at all. It just basically coats your
lashes lightly with a bit of pigment and this is something that apparently has not really changed
formula wise either which is kind of fun. I do like how natural it looks. It's very like
fluttery, wispy. I hope that this product is taking some of you guys on a little trip down
memory lane. I can't wait to read the comments you guys. I just know you guys have stories and
stories about some of these things and maybe some things that I haven't mentioned in this video.
Tell me about everything. Tell me about all of your past makeup memories and products that you
love or loved if you can't get them anymore. I want to hear everything but I mean come on. This
is such a good product right? Like so nostalgic for so many of us. Now on to the lip combo. So
the lip liner that still is around that's pretty iconic is MAC lip liners obviously. Spice I believe
was one of the OG shades and this launched in 1994 which was the year I was born. So we're
going to go into MAC Spice which I guess changed over time. It used to be a little more cool tone
than this but there's you know no way to know for sure for sure. I am going to take maybe a little
bit of MAC Soar because it's a little more mauve which I think is going to suit me better.
So I'm kind of mixing both of those but yeah this formula was launched in 1994. How fun is that?
Okay for lipstick now this is one that was kind of hard because I don't know exactly what shades
launched when this line launched but the L'Oreal Color Riche lipsticks launched in 1985 and you
know now they have so many different shades. I grabbed one from my collection. This is called
Montmartre. I don't know when this shade specifically launched but it's a really pretty mauve
so I'm going to go ahead and apply that on top. This is like such a classic lipstick though and
the smell of it. I feel like the smell of it is the same. I used to own a couple of these growing
up and they've always smelled like this. Alright lastly to top that off in the year 2000 Lancome
launched their Juicy Tubes which they recently more recently brought back. These were discontinued
and then they like re-released them but it's very close to the original formula apparently.
I actually never tried the original formula. Again I just like didn't know about more high-end brands
so I'm gonna go ahead and pop this on the center of the lips. How fun you guys. I looked up like
primers and setting sprays and there wasn't that much except for um for setting sprays the Urban
Decay All Nighter setting spray but they recently like changed who they manufacture with so I don't
know if it's all the way the same anymore so I'm just gonna skip setting spray for this video but
I mean how fun is this like a little vintage makeup look. We've got so many classics on the
face. Actually pretty floored at how nice everything looks. I'm sure there's some products that existed
back in the day that were discontinued because there's just genuinely so much better things
out there. I'm gonna do a little brow gel. Honestly I should have grabbed the Great Lash Clear
mascara. I used to use that as brow gel in high school and I used to um use the Great Lash Clear
mascara to like make my lower lashes more piecey without putting like colored mascara on my lashes
if that makes sense. Anyway this is just me needing to finish up the look. I feel like some things
might have been like discontinued in the past because technology has just gotten so much better
but then there's some classics that are classics for a reason and I feel like this look kind of
shows that. In my opinion I feel like eye products have really been elevated since back in the day.
I feel like Great Lash is obviously a classic but for me I love a little more volume. Again
eyeshadows I feel like are formulated much better now. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has
been a classic and is so good and I do know they reformulated that I think in the 2000s somewhere
so it did improve from launch. I feel like though like cheek and lip products really do stand the
test of time. I love a classic feeling lip product or classic feeling powder blush and this powder
honestly it looks so good. It looks fresh on the skin. I think that's what I'm liking about it.
I powdered my whole face but it doesn't look heavy and I feel like the NARS blush brought some
radiance back in as well. So you know I feel like these classics are around for a reason in my
opinion. Again eye products I think have definitely improved and I you know feel like we've moved on
from a lot of these eye products but they're still good you know what I mean. I can't wait to read
your comments and if you have something to say about any of these products I talked about or
maybe there's something that you were reminded of through this video that you want to tell us about
please leave a comment down below. But that's it for today from my vintage makeup tutorial using
things that launched a long time ago that are still available today. It's really fun to think
about and to see it all together in one place and on one face. So if you guys want to check out any
of these products I will have them linked down below for you. Maybe there's something here that
you're like oh my gosh it's nostalgic and you want to repurchase it or something like that to add to
your collection. Maybe you already have some of these things that you keep using time and time
again. Regardless everything that I've used will be in the description box for you guys
and I hope you all have a fabulous day wherever you are. I hope this was a cozy feel-good video
for you the way that it was for me and I hope you have a fabulous day wherever you are. I'll
see you in my next video. Love you! Bye!
