The Day Our ZR2 Died on Schofield Pass | Overlanding Disaster

Our 3-day Colorado overland trip didn’t exactly go as planned.

We started just outside of Marble, Colorado, making our way up Lead King Basin and into Schofield Pass, one of Colorado’s most scenic and challenging trails. But everything went south fast. My 2023 Colorado ZR2 suddenly lost throttle, every warning light lit up on the dashboard, and we were left stranded on a narrow shelf road miles from anywhere.

What was supposed to be a weekend of exploring turned into a trail-side scramble to bring the truck back to life. This is the reality of overlanding: things don’t always go to plan.
