Do you have any advice for someone who's considering buying an oyster?
Wow, I should say that if you have time and you would like to explore the world,
I mean this is the best thing that you can do.
I'm an ocean lover and I love all kind of contact with the ocean and especially when
sailing and also surfing and being the possibility to own a boat like this
that you can go anywhere in the world and just enjoy. Honestly, it's like a dream and it's
a child dream that I had and now it becomes a reality.
Because you know we love this lifestyle. We love to be at sea, we love to be surrounded by nature,
we love to meet sailors and speak about our adventures. We also love to have connected
with our friends, family and business in remote places which is an incredible experience.
We're living the dream, so who doesn't want to keep living a dream?
You know we feel super proud of being circumnavigators already.
We find nice surprises along the journey. For example, I didn't expect to find so good
surfing quality in Galapagos and that was amazing and then as I say South Pacific,
we're surfing everywhere. We would like to revisit many many destinations and to look for new ones.
The one that for sure that we will spend much more time is the South Pacific. We would like to go
back to the French Polynesia, Tuamotus, spend real time in Fiji and even in Vanuatu.
The world has endless possibilities to be explored and we are very looking forward to
discover new destinations. So the plans is that go back to the Pacific and then from Marquesas
go to Hawaii for some nice surfing there and from Hawaii go to southeast Alaska.
I would really plan to explore Alaska at least for two seasons, Alaska and British Columbia
and then go down the west coast US. We already have done the east coast and go down go to the
Sea of Cortez in Mexico. This is as you said is our second oyster, that is our seventh sailing
boat. So we had a lot of experience with previous boats so and always you always try to improve you
know what you can get from from a boat and we think that 595 I mean it ticks all the boxes.
The hull lines make it faster which is good for long passages. Secondly to have the double rudder
it makes quite comfortable to be on on the wheel. Then there is a little bit more of a space. Here
we have a sail locker which is quite important because we use for the long ocean passages. Also
the beam is wider and we could personalize as as we want. You feel that you are on a on a safe
boat on a fast boat and and that you need nothing else to enjoy the ocean. We love to be in this
boat because we love the feeling of being at home, the experience of coming back to our home like
Mastegot. It's the best feeling so we cannot ask for more. We feel so fortunate to be in the
sailing world and in the Oyster World Rally fleet first of all because the Oyster service.
The system that Oyster had put in place it gives you a lot of peace of mind and you can ask for
whatever part that you need and they are quite fast and they can deliver the part wherever you
are in the world. This is quite good and it's something that we appreciate very much. It's one
of the the things that has made the decision to go for this boat and not another one. And also we
love the possibility of sharing this experience with people who are in the same page. It creates
a camaraderie among the Oyster family and this is a very important part of our journey.
We all have family, friends and business to look after so what we found is when was the moment to
go we it was not the perfect moment at all. So what I would say is that don't wait for the perfect
moment, go and everything will fit. So you need a good team that helps you and of course a plan
but don't wait for the perfect moment because it's impossible. It's never there. With the right
preparation, with the right boat and if you have plenty of time everything is doable and it's a lot of fun.
