Casey House is a minimalist 1,900-square-foot residence in Austin designed by Side Angle Side for an architectural photographer who wanted a home based on the pure, childlike form of a simple gabled box. Inspired by a formative photograph taken early in his career and influenced by the modest materiality of Marfa, the project embraces simplicity, warmth, and restraint. The result is a dark monolithic volume with carefully positioned openings, anchored by a concrete site wall that guides the entry experience and reinforces the home’s quiet, deliberate architectural character.
