Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Welcome to the 18th annual Fine Arts Festival.
My name is Diamond, and I am an 8th grade student at Lincoln Junior High.
I sing in the choir, play flute in the band, and am the president of the Tri-Am Music Honor Society.
The Fine Arts Festival is a special time at Dalton West School District 148
when we focus on the celebration of the fine arts.
During the festival, more than 300 students from across our school district
participate and share their artistic talents.
Tonight's program will display the visual arts.
Please enjoy this fabulous artwork.

For this project, I made snow and trees.
We had paper and used a line to make the snow.
I used different kinds of lines in each tree.
My favorite part is the falling snow because it was fun to make.
Hello, my name is Fannie Moreno, and I'm in 6th grade at Franklin School.
My teacher's name is Miss Jo.
For this project, I made a bull's shadow with dark and light colors.
I wanted to have a balance of light and dark.
I chose a bull because it's one of my favorite animals.
I started by drawing half of the bull's face and then cut out the pieces.
Then I flipped the pieces to create the other half of the bull's face.
My favorite part making my art was gluing down the pieces
because it is when the other half of the face appeared.
I hope you enjoy hearing a little bit about my art.
Hi everyone, my name is June Brayden, and I'm a 4th grader at Franklin.
My work was inspired by the artist Alma Thomas.
A fun fact about her is that she was the first African American woman to have art on display in the White House.
The title of my artwork is Sunset Tulips, and I used colors that describe my title
like red, orange, yellow, pink, and a darkest orange.
I used skinny strips of red and various squares of yellow and orange and arranged them vertically on my paper.
I'm very proud that I made it look exactly how I pictured it in my head.
The colors perfectly matched the title I chose for my work.
Thanks for taking the time to hear more about my artwork.
Hi, my name is Melanie Perry, and I am in 5th grade.
My teacher is Ms. McAlinas at Franklin School.
For this project, I made a circle of yin and yang, light and dark.
I made one side full of zentangle patterns,
the other side full of colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
I learned about making different patterns, blending colors together,
and creating visual texture while making this project.
My favorite part of my art is my zentangle patterns
because that took me some time, and I am very proud of how it turned out.
I hope you enjoyed hearing about how I created this piece of art.
My name is Nyla White, and I am in 4th grade at Franklin Elementary School.
For this project, I created a heart gem with many different shapes.
I used watercolor paint to make different values of red to paint the gem.
I used a little red and lots of water to lighten the value and a little black to darken the value.
This taught me about mixing tints and shades.
My gem looks real, but I can touch it or pick it up.
My favorite part is the white lines because it made my gem look shiny and sparkly.
Thanks for listening to me explain more about my art.

I chose to do a sculpture of the Disney character Belle because I like the movie.
First, I did a circle for the head.
I used a pencil to make eyes and a mouth.
Then, I did the body and the hair and the skirt.
I felt really excited when I finished my sculpture of Belle.
It took me about five minutes.
Hello. I'm Katelyn Usher.
I'm in the third grade.
My teacher's name is Miss. Tony.
So when I was doing my art project, I was going for like a galaxy theme, but I really
didn't want to go for that, so like, I made like this purplish color, like I used blue,
white, and red to make like that purplish color.
At first, it was like a little bit black, but then it started turning purple, and then
after it was done drying, I put like, I used a black marker, and I put like dots on it,
and then I slightly, I slightly did like a mark on it, and then after, it looked like
something was swimming in there, and then after that, I put a little bit more white
in it, and it looked a little bit more like darker, like a dark purple, than how it was.
Thank you for listening.
