What's up? What's happening?
I'm in Saalbach and I've got 10 tips for you in the bike park this summer.
My first tip is to make sure that you check your bike before you hit the trails.
Things like brake pads are going to wear quicker on those longer descents.
You want to give it a thorough bolt check and also check your tire pressures.
Let's go!
Try and book your bike park pass ahead of time
because you might get a discount if you do it online.
Here in Saalbach you get something called the joker card.
Participating accommodation providers can supply this
and with it you'll get two free uplifts for your bike per day
and a 20% discount off a full day pass.
Don't forget to always pick up a bike park map
because you can open it up and have a look where you are
and you can decide how you're going to plan your day
what trails you're going to hit and the variety of levels on offer.
First up we're going to ride the famous Hackelberg trail
and that brings me to protection.
A helmet, eyewear, knee pads and gloves are a must.
Remember when you're in the bike park to build up to some of the bigger features
and follow the famous saying
pre-ride, re-ride and then free-ride.
Line choice in the bike park is sometimes limited
but what you can find is some high lines.
A high line right here, so you can set right up, come up around here
and avoid all the bumps in the bottom of the main line
where most people are going.
So to make that bit smoother, you can get your braking zones more dialed
and you can carry more speed and flow into the next section of trail.
A bit like the pre-ride, re-ride, free-ride
remember to warm up on your first trail, take it easy
and don't go straight into the experts only line
like the Bergstadl.
I'm going to carry on down the Hackelberg, have some fun
warm up, find the flow before I drop into that one.
An obvious one, always remember to bring your action camera with you
capture those special moments, be it landscape, crash
or just following your friends.
All right, let's go.
Here we go then.
The most scenic section of the Hackelberg I'd say.
Look at those views.
Just beautiful.
One of my all-time favourite mountain bike tips
is to drop your heels and make sure that you're looking ahead
and it couldn't be any more applicable in a bike park.
You tend to find here trail speeds are that bit faster
so if you're looking ahead, you're going to need to react better
and if you drop those heels, you're going to have better control of the bike
to help you flow through those sections, carry speed and have more fun.
Oh, what a day of riding.
Don't forget, when you finish, wash your bike
get rid of that dirt, that dust, that grime
so you can get ready to do it all again the next day.
