Canva just released a ton of brand new tools that seriously transform the way we design. In this Canva tutorial, I'm walking you through my top 8 favorite new Canva features from their most recent product launch that had my jaw dropping. If you want to design with Canva like a pro, this Canva course is for you. Some of the tools will be for Canva free users and some for Canva pro users- from Canva AI tools to upgrades inside the editor, we're covering it all! So if you've been wondering how to use Canva or searching for Canva tips and tricks, you're in the right place. This Canva design tutorial will get you started in the right direction.
Canva just announced their biggest product launch ever.
In the launch, they released several brand new tools that are now available.
All of the features they announced are really cool, but I specifically wanted
to share the top eight that blew me away, especially for those of us using Canva
to create digital products or resources for our online businesses.
These eight new capabilities are going to massively level up your designs
and shortcut the amount of time it takes you to get there.
And the best part, they're useful for beginners all the way up
through seasoned designers.
Now, some of these tools can be used by everyone, regardless of which Canva plan
you're on, and some of them are only available to Canva Pro users.
You can tell the ones that are Canva Pro features by the little
crown symbol that will appear on it.
So if you don't have Canva Pro yet, and you're thinking as we go through these,
that you might like to try some of these awesome new Canva Pro features, I've got
a link in the description box below you can use to get a free 30 day trial of
Canva Pro so you can try out all of the different Canva Pro features, tools, get
access to the upgraded graphics and photos and fonts, all for 30 days to see
if it would be a good fit for your business.
All right, let's jump into Canva.
All right.
The first feature we're talking about is Canva AI in the editor.
Previously to access Canva AI, you would have to click over to it here on the
homepage and use it right here from the homepage, but now we've got access to
the Canva AI features right here in the editor while we're working.
You can use Canva AI in both the design and the elements tabs.
So if we go to the design tab first, we can actually use the new search
bar here to describe our ideal design.
So this is basically serving as both the search bar.
If I'm just looking for one that already exists, I can search for what I'm
thinking of, but if I'm not finding what I'm looking for in the ones that are
already here, I can generate my own using Canva AI.
So for instance, I could type in invitation for a Christmas party, and then I'm going
to click generate design and here it's used Canva AI to give me this template
for a Christmas party invitation.
I can click to add that right to my project.
And I've even got the different layers here now where I can go in and edit the
text, change what it says, edit the fonts and the colors and make it my own.
Now I can also use Canva AI in the elements tab over to the left.
If I click on elements, it's the same idea here.
The search bar that we're used to has now changed to be both a search
bar and a prompt box for AI.
So I can use it either way.
If I want to just search the elements for something, I can type it in here.
But if I want to generate my own using AI, I can type in my prompt.
So I might want to say tennis ball with heart eyes, and now I can come
down and click generate images.
And this has given me four options for images that it generated using my prompt.
If I like one, I can just click to add it to my project, or I can continue
working with this regenerating different versions.
Now, along with generating images, I can also generate video or code.
Now you'll see next to the video option, there is a little crown symbol.
So that's only for Canva Pro users.
But if I'm a Canva Pro user, I can generate a short video or even code.
If I'm wanting to create some type of interactive tool to embed on my website.
These were all things we could do with Canva AI before, but only from the homepage.
So it's super helpful that now it's right here in the editor.
Now, the next new thing we'll see here in the elements library is 3D graphics.
If I click right here where it says 3D, I can see all of these different 3D
graphics that I can now use in these different categories, like icons and
stickers, characters and emojis, food and lifestyle, creative and abstract.
So I can just browse through these categories or I can search the element.
So let's say I'm again, looking for a tennis ball.
I'll search for that.
And here it's given me some results.
So if I like, let's say this first one, I can click to add it to my canvas and
you'll see this little icon right here in the middle, which is where I can click
to drag and rotate this.
So because it's 3D, it's allowing me to rotate this in whatever direction I want
and wherever I want it to land, I can just release and it'll stay right there in my
project.
These are so fun to play around with.
Let's say I want this cat again, I can click this middle part and drag it around
to see whatever angle of it I want.
Now there's one more really fun thing we can do with elements.
They've just introduced, but before we jump into that, I want to let you know
about a resource that's going to be super helpful for you.
If you are interested in selling digital products online, along with just using
Canva to create personal projects, you can use Canva to create digital products to
actually sell and make money, whether you want to do it just as a side hustle to
make some extra income, or you want to actually replace your full-time job and
make this a full-time business.
You can go either route, but the truth is when you're first starting out, it can be
a little bit intimidating to think of everything that goes into creating digital
products from what design tool to use to getting familiar with the technical side
of things from file types to aspect ratio resolution, to knowing what platforms to
sell on.
There's a lot that goes into it.
So I created a masterclass that's completely free.
It's about 45 minutes long, where I take a deep dive into the strategies that worked
for me and the four crucial steps that you need to take if you want to be
successful selling digital products online.
So I have that class linked in the description box below.
If you think that could be helpful for you, definitely hop over and watch that
after you're done here watching this video.
And if you're like, well, that sounds great, but I have no clue what type of
digital product I would even sell, then I've got you covered there too.
I've created a whole master list of different digital product ideas to
hopefully help give you some inspiration and some direction as you get started
with the idea of selling digital products.
That's again, a completely free gift for you.
It's linked in the description box below in case you'd like to grab that.
All right, let's move right along to the next really awesome feature that
Canva just announced, which is called style matching.
So here inside the editor, I've got two different elements.
Now you can see these are in two very different styles.
We've got one that's the coffee cup.
It's sort of in a kawaii cartoon style, and this one is a butterfly in
a really simplistic line art style.
So let's say I'm working on creating a design and I like the shape and
idea of this coffee cup, but I really want my whole design to feel more
cohesive and all in a similar style.
But there's just nothing in the elements library that looks
like this in a line art style.
I can actually now select the element in my project that has the style I like and
come up to this top floating toolbar where it has this little roller symbol.
It says copy style.
I can click on that and that has now copied the art style of this element,
which I can then click on any different element to apply it to.
So let's say I want to apply that style to this cup.
I would then just click here and now it's using its AI capabilities to
bring this style over to this element.
And you can see it has turned this element into more of a line art style
so that I can continue designing, keeping my whole page cohesive.
Now, if I'm working on a design and I'm just not really sure if what I have
created is really professional looking or quality, I can use the new tool
called ask Canva inside the editor.
When I have my design selected, this little floating toolbar will pop up
where I can click where it says ask Canva.
This is basically just pulling up a new comment and tagging at Canva.
And then I can type in whatever I want to ask it.
So I can ask it to give me design suggestions.
So I might say something like, do you have any design suggestions?
And it will give me feedback just like a collaborating designer.
So for this one, it gave me a new image to try, which is similar to the one I had
here, but a little bit of a different layout.
So I could either click to add this new one to my design, or I can choose one of
the options down here that say create a caption, change the style or suggest
improvements.
I'm going to go with suggest improvements.
And here it's given me another option where it's moved some of my elements
around, added some little cute icons and changed the colors.
Now going back to my original here, if I wanted to ask it something more specific,
I can do that as well.
So I might say at Canva, give me suggestions for a stronger and more
interesting headline.
So it says here are three headline ideas you might like, and it gives me some
different options here that I can just click to add to my design if I like.
So this ask Canva feature is just so helpful, especially if you're somewhat
new to design and you're still a little unsure of if the designs you're creating
are going to be visually appealing.
If the layout is right, if the fonts pair up well, you can now just ask Canva and
design through a simple conversation.
All right.
The next new release we're talking about is the new Canva design model.
Canva says that this new design model is the world's first AI model trained to
understand the full complexity of design, not just generating a static image, but
fully editable content that can include structure, layering, hierarchy, branding,
and visual logic.
So when we were using Canva AI before, generally, if it was generating an image
for us, it would be a static image that we wouldn't be able to click into the
different layers, like the different graphics and texts that it might include.
But now Canva AI is smarter than ever and understands the different layering and
like it mentioned, hierarchy and visual logic.
So for instance, if I come on and say that I wanted to create a social media post
promoting a 50% off sale for a candle company, it'll give me the different
design options like normal.
So let's say I like this one.
Now I can actually click to edit all of these different layers.
I can still bring it into the Canva editor and let's say I want to change this text.
I can click and change around all of these different layers individually, editing the
fonts, the coloring, the photos, the assets, really pretty much everything is going to
be editable now, which is really nice.
The new Canva design model is also now available within several other AI tools,
including ChatGBT, Plod, and Gemini.
So if you're using those to create, then you'll be able to access this new Canva
design model right there to create your visuals, not just inside of Canva, but in
all of those other tools as well.
All right.
Next up on our list of new features is an all new brand system.
We're used to being able to create brand kits on Canva, but they've taken the brand
kits up a notch, made them way more customizable.
So if you're familiar when you're in Canva, if you want to edit your brand kit, you'll
come over to the left where it says brand.
Now this one has a crown symbol, so this is only for Canva Pro users.
But now once you're inside the brand kit, everything looks really streamlined.
And the best thing to me that's new is you can come over to where it says all assets
and click this little plus button to add an asset category or a section to your brand
kit.
So before we only had very set things that we could add to our brand kit.
There was a section for assets, a section for graphics.
You could choose your fonts, but now you can totally customize this.
So let's say I just want a little bit more categorization and I want to divide these
different categories up by section.
I can click to add a section.
So an example of this might be if I wanted to divide things up by season, I could have
a section for fall.
And here you can see is the name of my section.
I could add another one for winter.
So now I've got those two here and I can continue adding those sections.
But then within the sections, I can add categories.
So the categories are like these that you see showing up here.
I've got logos, colors, fonts, brand voice.
But I could have each of these separately for each of my sections.
So then I could come back to my little plus sign and click asset category.
I want to click where it says untitled so I can name this.
So I might say photos.
And then when I'm here, I see it on the left side.
I can simply click to drag this up under where I want it.
So if I want this under winter, now I've got a photos category under my winter
section. So gone are the days of having to have all your photos in the same folder.
You can split it up by section and have a lot more organization with this.
So you know exactly where to find each thing that you're looking for as you're using
your brand kit. Now, another awesome thing you can do that's new with your brand kit
is when you're using Canva AI on the homepage, you'll give it your prompt.
And then before you hit generate, you're going to click this little plus button and
you'll see this new option that says apply brand kit.
When you click this, it ensures that whatever the AI is going to generate for you is
on brand from the very beginning.
No more having to continue refining over and over again, trying to explain the colors
and the font style and the graphic style from the very start.
It'll take your brand kit into consideration as it's generating your images.
All right. Our next new release we're going to talk about is huge.
And this is the creation of email design.
So now when you're inside of Canva, when you go to create a design, you'll see this
new option that says emails.
You can click to design a new email right here inside of Canva.
So you're not having to piece things together inside of your email service provider.
You can create and design it all right here inside of Canva.
Canva has now introduced tons of different email templates so you don't have to start
from scratch. You can simply come over to the search bar and look for one that
describe what you're looking for.
So I could say a newsletter email or a fitness company.
And here it's given me results that I can choose from.
So if I like one, I can simply click to add it to my project and then I can continue
editing on the canvas, clicking the different elements.
I can add hyperlinks.
I can change up the photos.
I can make this look exactly like I want for my email.
And then when I'm finished, before I download this, I can come up to the top right where
it says send test email.
I can enter the email address that I want to send it to myself at just to test it out.
Click send test email.
And that way I can send it to myself before going any further to make sure all the links
are working, make sure it's appearing correctly.
And once I'm completely finished with it, I'll come up to share, click the download
link. When I choose this, I can download it as HTML, which will allow me then to bring
it into my email service provider wherever I'm sending my emails from, upload it there
and send it to my list.
Now, number eight is possibly the biggest of all of these announcements.
And this is the release of Canva Video 2.0.
Canva previously had a video editor, but they have seriously improved it, made it way
more robust and changed it from a page based tool to a full video editor.
Now, because this is such a huge update, I figured it probably deserves a video of its
own. So we can really walk you through the brand new timeline, how it works and give
you a step by step demonstration.
So I'm not going to dive into it in this video, but keep your eyes peeled on the channel
in the next few weeks.
We're going to be releasing an entire dedicated video just for demonstrating the brand new
video editor. So there you go, friends.
Don't forget to click the links in the description box below.
If you're interested in making money selling digital products to watch that digital product
masterclass, as well as the link to grab your free digital product ideas list.
