US Charges 4 for Allegedly Exporting Nvidia AI Chips to China

U.S. authorities on Thursday charged two American citizens and two Chinese nationals for allegedly trying to export supercomputers and Nvidia AI chips to China—semiconductors that China could use for its military.
U.S. authorities say they received almost $4 million in return.
Nvidia’s AI chips are sought after by Beijing as they could help China’s military advance. Artificial intelligence is central to U.S.-China competition, and AI microchips are the foundation of that battle. China seeks to become the world's leader in artificial intelligence by 2030.
The United States has put in place export controls to prevent China from getting advanced AI chips from Nvidia.
