President Donald Trump met with top U.S. technology executives at the White House on Tuesday, again saying the U.S. is leading China in the artificial intelligence race. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters that during the meeting, AI leaders had signed a voluntary “accord” for reviews on AI standards.

With the midterm elections coming up in five weeks, the Pentagon will lead an effort to protect election infrastructure from foreign threats, with the main focus on cybersecurity.

The Senate passed the “Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act” by unanimous consent. Lead sponsor of the bill Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), describes the abuse as “an assault on religious liberty and fundamental human rights.” The bill must pass the House before arriving at the president’s desk.
