When I was homeless at 15, no one would help me start my business.
So today I've set myself the challenge of turning a stranger's business idea
into a million dollar success.
I'll give them thousands of pounds of free mentorship,
take them on an exclusive trip to one of the biggest companies in the world,
and finally...
You'll have to wait to see that part.
Surprisingly, it didn't take long to find the perfect stranger.
Oh really? What was the dream?
It's to make tummy-friendly jeans and make everybody feel better about themselves.
Oh, that's amazing. What is the reason you started this business?
I started it because I ended up having tummy surgery
and I could not find a pair of jeans that felt comfortable,
so I created my own to help other people feel good.
What help do you need?
I need exposure, I need marketing,
I just need people to know about what I've made.
Because I do, I design these jeans with a passion and to solve a problem.
And yeah, it's just letting people know I exist.
Have you got time to spend the day with us today?
I have, yeah, yeah.
I've got a relationship with Amazon.
I think I can go get an appointment with them today
to see if we can get them to help you sell some of your products.
Shall we try?
Yeah, let's do it.
If you want to reach new goals this year,
click on the link in the description to get the chance to speak with an Amazon expert
and start selling on Amazon.
Let's work on this today and try and help you get the marketing you need, shall we?
I'd love that.
Sophie had it all, passion, enthusiasm,
but to top it off, she had one of the most incredible stories I've ever heard.
Do you know why I'm so strong?
I can kiss.
Oh, now I'm going to end up getting emotional.
It's because I have been so weak at a point in my life
that being strong is a choice, you know?
When I was seven years old, I started to get unwell.
And by the time I was 12, I was diagnosed with IBD
and I was told it was incurable.
And so as a child and a teenager, I spent a lot of time in and out of hospital,
really, really poorly, undergoing all sorts of medical treatments
because back then nobody really knew what to do for IBD.
As an adult, I was blessed to have my son.
After I had him, I became really, really poorly.
I was actually fighting for my life and I was actually told to just go home.
I dropped down to four stone, spent most of my day on the toilet.
You know, I'd lose blood.
I was in agony.
My bones were poking out my body.
And he said the only thing we can attempt is surgery.
But there was no guarantee that I'd survive it.
Just to wake up from that was so thankful, especially being a mum.
Sorry.
Do you have a pair of jeans for men on you?
Yes, I do. I think you should try them on.
Before I reveal what I have in store for Sophie,
I need to understand the business from a customer's perspective.
It was time to ask the customers what they think.
Let's go sell in the street.
I'm going to try and sell a pair.
You're going to sell a pair.
I'm going to watch you first just so I can learn how you sell it.
Are you up for it?
I've never sold it in public before, but yeah.
Excuse me, ladies.
So how comfortable do you find wearing jeans?
Not very.
Not very, exactly.
So this is why I have created...
We're running to a restaurant.
Yeah, I said, would you buy them?
But she said, I can't cope.
I'm being filmed and she liked it.
Can I show you the world's most comfortable pair of jeans?
Have a look at them.
You have to touch them.
So can I ask any of you, would you purchase these?
Not at the moment, sorry.
Excuse me, can I ask you a question?
Would you buy these jeans for him?
Phil, would you buy this?
If I like them, I'll pay like 200 quid, but not on the street.
Would you consider buying jeans like this?
Comfort doesn't really bother me.
No, that's really interesting feedback.
So what makes you buy a product?
People don't do this enough.
They don't actually go and talk to potential customers.
I have some crazy surprises in store for Sophie.
I can't wait to show her the surprise I have in store.
We're going to head over to the Amazon office.
What time is that?
I've got half an hour to come up with a billion dollar brand.
Leave it with me.
Jeans will make you feel.
Let's learn from our competition.
That's really powerful.
So we managed to get through to Amazon
and they've managed to arrange for a really successful seller on Amazon
to explain to you how they've done it.
And we're also going to speak to some people at Amazon
who are going to mentor you a little bit
and try and make sure that everyone we launch potentially
in the future works for you.
Shall we go?
Yeah, that's amazing.
I've realized we're a bit late.
We better run.
Wow.
Oh my God.
My name is Mark Brushmore.
I'm the co-founder of Surrey.
We make the most sustainable electric toothbrushes available on the market.
We've gone from zero to eight figures in the last 12 months.
It's been a phenomenal ride.
What lessons do you think you've learned?
There's lessons you learn the hard way
and lessons you learn from like things that have gone well.
I think something that's gone really well is
we've really invested in relationships by giving generously.
We've ended up sort of serendipitously receiving, yeah.
Sophie, I'll hand over to you if you want to ask some questions about the Amazon store.
What are your returns like?
So actually, our returns are really low.
We use FBA and that makes returns really straightforward.
It's all sort of handled with Amazon.
And so honestly, it couldn't be any easier.
So the customer journey is a positive one.
Yeah, which is why everyone shops on Amazon, you know.
They do?
Yeah.
Daisy, nice to meet you.
Thank you so much for coming to mentor Sophie.
So I'm really excited about getting my business on Amazon store.
What's the best way that I should do it?
Another thing I would probably suggest is fulfillment by Amazon,
whereby you're sending your products to the Amazon warehouses
and Amazon are fulfilling these products on your behalf
and also dealing with customer returns.
So there's so much information out there about Amazon store.
What's the best way for me to go about learning about it?
Everyone does have access to Seller University.
So this is a tool with a lot of educational resources,
which a lot of people don't know about.
You can access it either on YouTube or through your Seller Central account.
It basically has videos about every aspect there is to do with selling on Amazon.
I mean, literally everyone's selling a very expensive course to learn this stuff
and it's free from you guys.
We're going to put the link in the video down below.
This is actually really important.
I want free stuff for our audience from Amazon.
What free stuff can people get?
Being a brand owner, coming new to Amazon,
you are eligible for 5% off your first £800,000 sales.
If you go down the FBA route,
you are also eligible for free storage for 100 units for 120 days
and also free removal for 180 days.
If the people listening to this video want to get on Amazon store, what do they do?
So they can just click the link below this video
and fill out a simple form with their basic business information and get going.
After a heavy session of mentorship and learning,
I wanted to finally reveal to Sophie my big surprise.
Right, let's go sit down and talk through everything you've learned today
and the next steps for making your business work, okay?
Okay, great.
I wanted to talk about a few things.
Yeah.
I've got a surprise for you.
Surprise.
This morning after meeting you, we put up the video of you.
Yeah, my phone has literally been...
And it's gone viral.
And hundreds of thousands of people have already watched it.
Do you want to watch the video?
Yes.
Simon, Simon!
I have finished my dream to be a daughter!
Oh, really? What was the dream?
Hi, Simon.
My name is Sophie and I'm proud that I am Dennis.
It's to make tummy-friendly jeans and make everybody feel better about themselves.
Oh, that's amazing.
What is the reason you started this business?
After my son was born, I became unwell and had life-saving stomach surgery.
It was in the weeks after recovery that I found something as simple as
pulling on a pair of jeans a struggle.
And yeah, I didn't want anyone to ever feel how I did.
So I can sense your passion for it and it's an important thing to...
I think you're helping people with their mental health,
my feeling is, it gets that serious, right?
No, it really is.
What help do you need?
I need exposure, I need marketing.
I've got an idea for you.
Have you got time to spend the day with us today?
I have, yeah.
I've got a relationship with Amazon.
I think I can go get an appointment with them today to see if we can get them to help you
sell some of your products.
Should we try?
Yeah, let's do it.
All right, let's do it.
Wow.
And the comments, I can't tell you.
People's comments.
I've got to read some of these, like...
I said, this is unbelievable.
Jeans are not the comfiest and this would help me so much.
I'm going to buy them.
Just so many kind, kind comments.
It's been an absolute honour to spend the day with you.
Thank you so much.
Get to hear your story.
I've got one other surprise for you.
Okay.
I don't think I can cope with anything else.
We want to be your biggest customer.
Oh my God.
I want to give you £5,000.
Oh my God.
And buy 50 pairs of jeans, which you and I will go give out to people that need them.
Oh my God.
Thank you so much.
My sister made me promise not to ugly cry.
Now I've just gone and done it.
Can we hug?
Thank you so much.
You're amazing.
You're such an inspiration, really.
Well done, babe.
Well done.
Thank you.
Oh my God.
Honestly, the gratitude I have for what you do and for not just helping me,
but giving other people the ability to do good.
It means so much.
You deserve it.
