OFF-GRID HOT TUBBING IN THE WOODS. VAN LIFE IN CANADA
Something I haven't had the chance to do yet and that's go shopping in my own store. So Amanda,
can you do me a favor? You want to pull these out of inventory because I'm about to take a few
things. So Julka makes some new products for my shower that I want. One is a 12 volt splitter
extension. The other one is a battery adapter. So in the bottom of the Julka shower there is,
I don't know if there's a picture of it on here, there is a little thing in the bottom there where
you put 2d batteries. This replaces those 2d batteries. So now you can actually plug your
whole unit into the power source that your pump is plugged into. That's what the splitter is for.
So what it allows you to do is get rid of the batteries and then run everything off your power
source. Let's go. Oh that's gonna make life so much better. Let's grab my Julka hot tub.
Oh and there's more. On Amazon I ordered a pump system. Right there. So I can fill it from the
creek with a pump. I think this is 6 gallons per minute or something. And I got an extension hose
for it. And this is the suction hose that came with it. My hopes this time is that we can fill
this thing faster instead of doing the old bucket system which is just a giant pain in the butt.
Thanks for shopping at Vantoys. Everything up here is frozen. Those are frozen water drops.
It's really cold here this morning. All right good it's in there. I got one more thing to pick up.
This one will change the game out there. I was not expecting that this morning. The sun is out.
Let's go. I thought for sure it was supposed to be a rainy day today but this is beautiful.
Really cold outside but beautiful. Oh where are they at? There they are. We are here
to get a propane tank baby. Today's video is sponsored by AG1. This has probably been the
easiest thing I've added to my health routine that makes me feel better. Makes my mind clearer.
And this is not just a greens drink. It's one scoop of AG1 in some water. Shake it up and you're
vitamins, minerals, pre and probiotics. It's good for the mind. It's good for the body and it's
definitely good for the gut. When you get your subscription you're going to get a canister to
put your AG1 in. You just throw this one in the fridge and a shaker cup. You're going to get a
scoop as well too. Just one scoop and some water. Shake it up and you would think drinking your
vitamins would taste gross. It's actually really really good. I heard you can add lemon and stuff
to it. I haven't tried anything like that. I honestly just like it like that. Some water and
a shaker cup. Easy peasy. But one thing I reach for the most, believe it or not, is the travel
packs. This has been a part of my routine now for about a year and a half. I started it because of
my tummy. I wanted to get in some more pre and probiotics but putting more pills in my body just
wasn't fun. So being able to drink that just made my routine so much more easier. So if you're
looking to add something super simple that's going to make a large impact on your health,
go to drinkag1.com forward slash vansity van life to subscribe and save $20 off your first
subscription. That's drinkag1.com forward slash vansity van life or scan that QR code right up
there on the screen. AG1, thank you for sponsoring today's video. Yeah we're doing it right this time
That's going to change my whole day. I grabbed myself a gas station coffee. We're off to the
mountains buddy. So I feel like this is a redemption trip into the woods. The last time I had that hot
tub of I heated it with one pound propane bottles and I did that the first time I used it too.
But the second round I was about a bottle short of making that thing hot enough to use.
We're not going to make that mistake again. And every instructional video on how to use the hot
tub from Julka, they were all using the larger propane tank. They weren't using the little one
pound bottles. The one pound bottles are great for the shower part of it. Like if you just want to
take it out, have a little shower, the one pound bottles are great. But for using the hot tub,
don't do that. Don't. I learned that lesson. So we're going out right now to redo that video
with success this time. Siri's getting in on this action. Oh if you look up there,
there's fresh snow right on the peak right up top there. Wow did I ever get lucky today. I
thought about doing the hot tub yesterday. Boy am I glad I waited. How beautiful it is with the
fresh dusting of snow up there. A little specks of snow on the ground here. And this little peak
of the mountain here is usually the spot that has snow. The snow looks pretty fresh here.
There's a single track right through the middle here. Looks like a motorbike came through here.
We are being treated with quite an incredible morning break right here in the open sunshine.
A little cloud or whatever that is. I'm still walking around in my slippers.
That's van life for you. All this driving around no complaints at all.
All right it looks pretty solid. It always freaks me out because when you're driving through here
you don't really know if this curves underneath or not. But that looks pretty solid.
It's going down boy. I am stoked on this.
Seriously pretty quick. That thing inflates in less than two minutes. It's fast.
My hope is that this is the golden ticket to fill it faster.
All right I took this end off. Let's see if it's any better. Oh way better. Perfect stream.
Yeah this little thing caused a bit of a... but if a rock gets up in there it's going to
wreck the propeller. If I use the julep pump to do that it takes about an hour and a half
to two hours to fill up the hot tub. I'm hoping this way 15 minutes. I hope. Hey buddy we're off
to a good start today. Okay in the bottom of the hot tub here is this with d batteries. This is
used to ignite the flame but you do go through a fair amount of d batteries so they make this
little thing. This is gonna change the game. Now I don't gotta worry about carrying d batteries
with me anymore. Now this goes in the bottom replaces the d batteries with a power thing on
the bottom and looks like an on and off switch. Power to the splitter. We just get this set up.
It's starting to rain outside and that thing's just about full. Adding that pump such a good idea.
I got the shower setting on high. It's gonna be an awesome place to have a hot tub. All right
we're gonna turn the heat on. It's cold. It's just a water hose. The pump came with this hose
to pull from the creek. It wasn't that expensive but if you guys are gonna run
the Juka hot tub get it. 100%. All right it's been about a half an hour. We're gonna go give
this thing a stir. What happens is the hot water stays on the top. Cold water on the bottom.
So we'll stir this thing up once in a while. Weather's a little undecided. A little rainy.
A little sun coming out. All right we're gonna make ourselves some breakfast here
even though it's not quite breakfast anymore. Amanda bought me a new frying pan. It's at the
shop because she was reading the comments on the last video where everybody was saying chrome you
need to get a new frying pan. Yours is a mess. So she she got me a new one. These ones get pretty
marked up pretty fast and I try to stop it but what happens in here sometimes is these things
that are between my frying pans get shimmied out of the way and then the pans rub against each other.
Yeah maybe I'll have to come up with a better system than that. Like maybe we could make some
kind of a cool foam insert so just one frying pan fits into one spot. I've seen that in some of like
the luxury conversions like the earth roamer where every plate's got its own spot. All the
forks have their own spot. Maybe creating some kind of a foam liner like that in the next van
would be really awesome. That way the frying pan goes boop back into one spot protected from all
the others. That'd be pretty sweet. All right let's check on this see how she's doing. So far no flame
failures. At the one hour point we'll give it another stir. I just checked on the hot tub. I'm
not too sure if two hours is going to do it. Maybe maybe it will. It's been about two hours and 15
minutes. Oh it's getting there. So everything online said it's good in two hours. I don't think so.
You're probably looking at three hours. What the heck is going on outside?
The weather just can't make its mind up. It's sunny. It's raining. It's hailing.
We have a flame failure on the thing here. All right I think it's time. I think it's time.
Oh it's steamy. Oh it's good. It's good. Oh that is so hot. Look at the hail come down.
The bottom side of the hot tub. It's not under the under the awning.
This is epic. This is good weather to be in here. Imagine if somebody drives in here right now.
They're going to come around the end there and go what the heck bro. You seriously hot tubbing
in the bush. Don't worry I came prepared. You play edx on Spotify. EDX baby. Unbelievable.
I can't explain how cool it is to be in a hot tub out here. The last time I did it we were in a
heavily wooded area. It was kind of nice but I didn't have like a nice good view of the creek
like I do here. This is awesome. I could see someone who sits still for quite a while because
I think if you put a cover on this and at least maintain some heat in it during the day
that you'd be back up to use in an hour in the morning. Oh man. It's pretty awesome that this
thing is too hot to be in after 30 minutes of being inside of here. At least it's not called
a warm tub. I can confirm this is legit a hot hot tub and it would just continue to get hotter and
hotter if you were to keep the if you were to keep the shower unit on which is the heating unit for
the hot tub but I think it's got a cap out at 50 degrees celsius. That's where it hits a flame
failure just so you're not making this thing too hot. So on there when I shut it off it was 47
degrees celsius. I don't know if that's exactly accurate but that's the temperature coming through
the inside. Not sure if that's in here so I'm gonna guess it's probably a discrepancy so maybe
45 degrees celsius inside the hot tub. She is hot. There we go. It's good and secure. I'm sitting here
watching the news cooking dinner. Man the world is working when I'll just get along. It's such a mess
right now. I've been trying to keep an eye on that stuff a little bit as much as it really annoys me
because it does affect my business but that's so annoying. Look how good that looks.
I like simple dinners like this. There was nothing more relaxing today than sitting outside in the
hot tub with the sound of the creek in the background and the hail bouncing off the hot tub.
Oh my gosh just what I needed. To be honest if you're like racing to the basement. I'm not political
one bit. I don't follow politics nor do I usually care but this is the time when I've been watching
it and I just shake my head at everything. Everything. I don't get it. Seriously buddy?
Is that how you're gonna hang out? That's my boy. Hey is that how you roll buddy?
Bro you're so funny bro. I dropped the angle of the awning down a little bit.
I'm hoping to keep more rain off of this stuff.
I just got off the phone with Amanda. Man I love having Starlink out here like and I'm surprised
I'm getting a connection here. I am surrounded with trees all the way around me and that little
thing up there has been crushing it. But Amanda's been at home working hard trying to figure out a
better way to get better shipping rates for you guys. So in yesterday's video I threw up a little
camping tripod thing and a bunch of people were saying that the shipping was super pricey. It was
a $20 item with like sometimes $30 or more worth of shipping on that item. I'm like what? That is
not right. And so Amanda went in and found out that Canada Post raised their prices by 25 percent.
That's an insane raise in cost of shipping. 25 percent? What are they thinking? With all what's
going on in the world right now with all this like trade war fighting stuff. Now the shipping guys
want to get in on that action? What the heck's going on? I don't get it. But anyway I'm frustrated
with this because you know we don't have any say in the shipping cost. Zero. So shipping is all
calculated through Shopify. We have no control over that. We don't make any profit from it.
And then this stuff starts to happen. It was super frustrating to see that in the comments today
and see the people that messaged us about it. Some guy was like what the? It was going on
Chrome. I buy a $20 item. It's $27 to ship it to Ontario. I'm like whoa whoa whoa what?
My gosh. So Amanda's working on that right now trying to find a workaround because a lot of
stuff on there that's smaller items goes by Canada Post because it's cheapest normally. So
we're trying to find a workaround. So for those of you guys who are wanted to pick up something
give us a minute. We're gonna figure this out because there's gotta be a better way. Anyway
guys not what I wanted to end my day with trying to figure out all this shipping stuff. But hey
tomorrow morning we'll see how that hot tub is sitting out there all night tonight and see how
warm it is in the morning. If it's gonna take me an hour to re-top up that heat I want to get a
good soak in and have some coffee here before we leave the camp spot. If it's gonna take longer
than two hours to heat up we'll probably bounce on down the road and forget about that. But I'm
really really curious on how hot that thing's gonna be in the morning because it was smoking
hot tonight. If it's even like above room temperature in the morning it may only take a
half an hour or an hour to heat it back up. That would be pretty awesome especially if you're
sitting in one place for a long period of time to know that every day is just a just an hour top
up in the morning and you're back out for a morning soak. Let's go! Alright crew see you
guys in the morning. We'll find out how this goes. Alright guys see you tomorrow. Peace out.
