Hello, hello friend. As you can see by the title of this video, we're going to do
something a little different today. Over the past month or two,
I have not been that consistent with my uploads, and that's because
your girl's been burnt out. As the year comes to an end,
I am certainly not the only one who's dealing with these feelings. I think it's
easy for us to just shut off that part of our brains,
not think about it. And when we get on that autopilot mode, it's
very easy to neglect your self-care. I've come to learn that getting out of a rut
is something that I have to actively work toward, not just trying to find
motivation because motivation is fleeting. So it's good to have a
routine or either some habits that you can fall back on to get out of that rut
and make you look forward to life again.
Now I know the last thing I want to do when I'm burnt out is clean,
but when I'm in this mental space, my environment is the first thing that goes.
The whole term bedrotting, it's very real, and especially when it gets colder,
you want to stay in your covers all day. Get out of bed and clean those bedsheets, girl.
I'm someone who has to make my bed every day, or I literally do not want to get
into it when it comes night. I like it to look clean, to look inviting,
not smell like I've been sweating in it all day.
Yeah. Try doing my bedsheet laundry every one or two weeks.
If that is unmanageable or unrealistic for you, bare minimum is to wash your pillowcases
because there's a lot of bacteria on there. You're putting your face on it every day.
You know, we don't want those breakouts.
When it comes to cleaning the rest of my apartment,
I try to wipe down all the surfaces in my bathroom and in my kitchen,
just so it looks like I'm a little more put together.
You don't have to do the whole deep cleaning.
Surfaces are easy, manageable, takes me like 10 minutes to do the entire place,
and that's if I'm really dragging my feet.
The name of the game when you don't have that energy is to do the bare minimum.
As someone who dreads the colder seasons,
I find seasonal decor to be one of those small things that really gets me excited.
You don't have to go crazy and buy a ton of decor that will only last around a month.
My apartment aesthetic is very like spring-summer anyway,
so I don't want to replace all that.
What I like to do is get something small like hand towels.
Just add a nice little cozy touch, or I'll switch out my pillowcases or cloth napkins.
It does actually get me excited for another month,
and I have something small to look forward to.
Like, ooh, I get to decorate for November.
Look at my little puppies over there.
In the same vein, having a candle or a scent that also correlates with the season,
I like to bake granola, the fresh scent permeating the kitchen.
If only I could bottle that scent and save it for whenever I need.
But I can always make a new batch of granola.
I do go through that pretty fast.
In terms of audio and just setting your environment up,
I want to share with you what I've been listening to lately.
I don't know if it's the fact I'm getting older,
but like listening to music, sometimes it's a lot for me.
It's not even anything to do with the genres I'm listening to.
It's more that I just prefer listening to someone speak in the background.
What I like about the Headspace app is there's a ton of different things to listen to.
It's not just meditation.
This is one of my favorites.
It's called Switching Task, and that's because when I'm procrastinating,
I always reach for my phone.
I made it a habit to try going to my Headspace app and opening a meditation instead.
They have different activities specifically for you to listen to while you're doing something.
Sometimes I'm not actually paying attention to the words being said,
and I just like having that background noise of someone chatting.
On the Soundscapes, they actually have this really cool feature
where you can adjust the sound of the voices versus the sound of the ambient noise.
I usually like the person's voice a little quieter
so I can just zone out and listen to the nature,
but in the background, there's still someone chatting.
Since I started using these, I've literally seen such an improvement in my mental health.
My stress has been a lot lower.
I'm not as anxious, and with those two things factoring in,
I'm actually getting like better sleep even.
Just 10 days of Headspace is proven to decrease stress and increase happiness,
and by using my link in the description box or scanning the QR code on screen,
you can try it out entirely for free for 60 days.
So be sure to check that out and see how Headspace can be helpful for you.
I've been getting the habit of setting out my weekly makeup.
This is something that I started doing because I want to be more mindful of my consumption.
On this channel, you can actually see the pretty significant change in my makeup style
as I got more comfortable with it,
and through that, I realized I don't use a lot of product.
More often than not, I'm using the same products over and over again.
I do get sent quite a bit of PR from makeup brands.
Usually, I'll save them to give away to friends,
but there are times that I want to try out new products for myself,
and so I've been trying to choose a different lippy or a different blush
to switch it up without, you know, without really switching it up.
Like, let's be real.
All the pinks kind of look the same to me.
I have had a lot of people requesting an updated daily makeup routine,
so I'll kind of give an overview here.
First thing I start with is always color corrector.
I primarily use the green color to cancel out any redness,
and for my under eyes, I use this peachy pink color.
Now I will go in with my concealer.
Take a little bit from the side.
I don't even use the brush tip.
Brush the excess off on the back of my hand.
Even when I open it, it smells almost like skincare.
It smells very clean.
Some new makeup in the mail the other day.
I don't know if I like that.
It's been a real point in my self-care to find makeup products
that not only look best on me,
but suit my features, suit my skin type,
and colors that just, you know, give you the nice glow.
They can be shorter than this.
Yeah, shorter.
Oh, round.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm actually between a 610 and a 604.
Very outside of my usual color choices.
Getting my nails done has been my version of my self-care sweet treat.
It's a little small way I choose to treat myself every month,
and over the summer, because my dogs were out,
I started getting pedicures.
I started getting my nails done a few years ago just, you know, for fun.
I actually realized this helps me a lot with my picking habits.
I would pick at everything.
My cuticles, my skin, my lips.
I think it's a thing I did out of comfort, you know, like to manage anxieties.
Still pick at my split ends, unfortunately,
but having gel manicures makes it a lot more difficult to pick at things.
Ever since I started getting pedicures, I've been kind of scaling back on the nail art.
I used to be really crazy into all the fun designs, which I still love to look at,
but when I'm also getting my toes done, you know, it kind of helps manage the cost.
It's not even that dark.
I'm just so unused to it, but I think it really looks good.
I am going to head home now,
but before I do that, I need to pick up some groceries for tonight's dinner.
I really want to make a soup.
I bought bone broth the other day
because I saw all those videos about how it's so healthy for you.
People just drink it like in a cup straight in the morning.
I thought it could be something I use as a base of a soup.
That way I can get even more nutrients in it and make it into a meal.
I want some veggies to go with it.
I think cabbage and carrot.
This is the bone broth I saw recommended a lot on my For You page.
This is just the classic beef, and I try to find the reduced sodium version.
You can always add more salt into your soup, but you can never take it out.
When I'm burnt out, delivery is so tempting.
I don't know if it's like this for anyone else,
but every time I order takeout, I'm severely disappointed.
Not only in terms of the quality, the nutrition that I'm getting,
but I just know I can make something way better tasting at home,
and I can eat it fresh.
I also have an onigiri that I need to eat.
This is my favorite flavor.
This is the premium wagyu beef.
Wait, let me try this first.
Oh, that's so good.
I'm going to be putting in this hair mask while I clean up the rest of dinner.
You can see just how much I love it because there's...
Do I even have enough for tonight?
As always, I've already done my cleanser in the shower.
I double cleanse every night after I've removed all my makeup.
I picked these toner pads up while I was in Korea, and I really love them.
In fact, I just ran out.
I'm hoping this is similar.
It has PDRM.
I'll be back very soon, guys.
Promise.
Still a little hot.
I'm running out.
I started getting really bad cystic acne like about two months ago.
None of my skincare products were really doing anything,
so I thought it was time I finally look internally.
I'd never taken supplements before, but that's also something I started doing.
Then I found out spearmint tea also helps with hormonal imbalance.
Two cups a day, one in the morning before breakfast,
and then I drink one at night, usually while I'm doing my skincare like this.
I think a combination of those things and just getting more sleep
has really helped with my skin.
Something else I randomly noticed after I started drinking my tea,
I think it raised my body temperature.
For as long as I can remember, I've always been super sensitive to coldness.
I always had my apartment staying around a comfortable 75 degrees,
and that's not just a preference thing.
I will literally have goosebumps if it's not that warm.
Now I'm staying at around 72, which is still warm for a lot of people,
but considering where I was, I really think it has to do with drinking this tea.
I do have a product recommendation, and this is the Dr. Althea Pro Lab Moisturizer.
I literally just finished an entire tube of this thing.
Oh my god.
I feel a lot calmer now.
