A beautiful classic villa in the north of Italy - home tour

[Music] Welcome to Montrea, a former Corte near the Garda lake and Verona dating back to the 14th century. A courte was a traditional rural building that is typical of northern Italy. They were very common here in the Venetto area. These buildings were historically centered around a central courtyard and served as self-sufficient farmsteads where families lived and worked. The Corte had a main building for the owner and smaller homes for workers along with stables, barns, and workshops. The main house that was once the home of the owner of this Corte has now found its new owners in Sundra and Luigi who have carefully restored it and turned it into a beautiful holiday home. They used highquality materials and carefully sourced vintage and antique furniture pieces and art to create a beautiful classic but airy interior that feels like a warm hug. You can feel the love and attention to detail that Luigi and Sandra have put in during the 2 years it took to renovate and create the beautiful living area, dining room, kitchen, four bedrooms that each have their private on suite bathroom and the beautiful garden and terraces. When you rent the villa, you have it all to yourself. So Luigi and Sandra do not live on site, but on the evening that we arrived, Sandra and Luigi came to the villa to cook a lovely meal for us and share it together. Sandra used to have a blog sharing all about Italian food and recipes, and she is a really, really good cook. She had us taste all the traditional dishes from this region and she shared with me that she's currently working on organizing cooking retreats in this villa. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] The kitchen is a dream come true for anybody who loves cooking. I loved the marble countertops, the beautiful table in the center of the kitchen, all the gorgeous china that Sombra has collected over the years, and the copper details. [Music] [Applause] [Music] The ground floor also has a beautiful powder room and you also find a bday here. It's used for washing herself after you've used a toilet. This was very common also in French homes. I found that in France people don't really install these anymore, but during my stay in Italy, I saw them everywhere and I learned that there is actually a law dating from 1975 which requires that every Italian home has a bid. So, it is actually a mandatory feature for all newly built homes. Every place that we stayed at in Italy had one. And as we now go up to see the bedrooms, you will see that each bathroom of this home has one as well. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Sombra has carefully collected beautiful Italian vintage bedspreads that she uses to make the beds. It's a traditional way, as she said, as our grandmas used to make our beds, but I think it's of a beautiful elegance that goes so well with this home. [Music] There is one more bedroom on this first floor and it is much smaller but very cozy. Hey, [Music] [Music] heat. [Music] Now, let's take these beautiful stairs up to the last floor to see the last two bedrooms. Sombra and Luigi had these stairs made from a beautiful local stone.
