Hey everyone, it's Lina. Thanks for joining me today as I paint a portrait of the beautiful and super talented Emma Pickles.
She is a YouTuber and beauty blogger and she has the most amazing tutorials on her channel. I hope you guys enjoy this portrait.
I'm working with oil on canvas and as you can see I already sketched out the basic outlines and shapes and I'm now applying the very first layer of paint.
It usually takes me about three or four layers before I'm finally happy with the painting.
To create the colors on the lips, I used zinc white, cadmium red, permanent rose, and alizarin crimson.
To create the tones on Emma's eye makeup, I used varying amounts and mixes of French ultramarine, Payne's grey, zinc white, and purple.
To make a painting look realistic, it's important to look for all the different colors hiding in the shadows.
Just the slightest tint in the wrong place can make a huge difference.
I decided to make the background abstract and floral with painty impressionistic brush strokes to contrast the smoothness and detail of the rest of the painting.
Emma and I have actually followed each other for a while now and I have been meaning to paint her for the longest time so we finally decided to collaborate on our YouTube channels.
So on my channel, I conceptualized a reference photo that she took in order to paint a portrait of her.
And on her channel, she created this incredible look inspired by my watercolor painting, Heavy Heart.
And I am literally amazed and completely in awe with what she created.
I just have no adequate words to describe it.
She's just such an amazing artist so please head on over to her channel and watch her video, send her lots of love.
I have provided links in the description box or you can click on the link on screen and it will open in a new window.
So here is the final painting.
I hope you all enjoyed this video.
Please give it a thumbs up if you did and don't forget to head on over to Emma's channel and subscribe to her.
