LIGHTEST ARROW BUILD Before It’s TOO DANGEROUS (Hunt Winner Announced)

Welcome to today's video.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got a jam-packed one full.
We're gonna be building some new arrows
that I have been very interested in building
that are very unique, very unique specs.
We'll talk about that in a second,
but it is time that we choose a winner
for our Alberta mule deer hunt,
where you win the hunt, you come with me,
you get a free custom bow that I'll build for you,
and you come hunting with me in Alberta for mule deer.
So we did a big giveaway this last month.
If you'd like to be just hearing about it now,
too bad, you don't get to enter, maybe next time.
So we have this wheel, we're gonna click it,
and then, I think I click it right here.
I don't know, WTA felt like I was responsible
enough to do this, so we'll see what we got.
Everyone's entered in here.
We're gonna randomly select, right now?
John Lyons.
So now I got a spreadsheet with everyone's phone numbers.
Oh, we're gonna give you a call.
So John Lyons, it's a chance he doesn't answer.
Oh, hey, this is John.
Hey, John, this is Chris B.
We just selected a winner for Alberta mule deer hunt,
and your name popped up on the wheel.
Really?
Yes, sir.
That is crazy.
Yeah, man, so you're the winner.
We're gonna go hunting in September in Alberta.
Okay.
I was hoping, it's good, man.
You picked up on the first ring.
Last time we did this, we had to hunt down the winner
in text and call and everything, so that's awesome, man.
Oh, yeah, I do this for work all over the country,
so my phone's ringing all the time.
I gotcha.
Well, right on, man.
Yeah, so it's a big info dump,
but pretty much we'll have to get you lined up
with the right people and everything for logistics
and everything like that.
We'll get you with Nick at WTA,
but pretty much in a nutshell,
you and I are gonna communicate here
in the next couple months, and I'll build.
We'll get a bow in.
You can custom order it however you want.
We'll kind of rush it, and then I'll build.
I've already got one.
I've already got a lift.
Oh, you already got a lift.
Well, I guess you can get another one if you want,
but we can rig it all out.
We can rig it all out on everything,
and then as far as the hunt goes,
yeah, you'll just communicate with WTA.
Yeah, man, I mean, this is a pretty sweet deal.
I've always wanted to hunt mule deer in Alberta.
Have you ever hunted mule deer before?
No, I haven't.
Okay, you whitetail hunt.
I'm out of North Carolina, so.
Okay, right, oh, I saw that.
Yeah, so you just whitetail hunt and stuff there, or?
Yeah, when I can.
Like I said, I travel for a living, so I mean,
I got a house at the coast, and then I travel in a camper,
so I try to do a little bit of hunt
wherever I can move around to for work,
but it don't always work out that way.
I got you.
Well, yeah, man, the hunt up there is world-class.
I mean, I've always wanted to do it.
Giant, giant mule deer.
I've had a lot of buddies that have gone up there
and done it, and I don't know, should be a good time.
I've never done it, so should be really good,
and then even though you already have a bow,
we're still gonna hook you up with one,
so if you wanna hunt with it or use it as a practice bow
or whatever, we'll still go through the deal
and get you all rigged up with one.
Yeah, man, that'd be awesome.
Well, sweet, dude.
Well, congrats.
I'm glad you picked up on the first ring.
This is perfect.
I mean, well, thank you.
We'll get it done, and we'll get everything figured out.
Right on, man.
Well, have a good day.
I'll send you some emails with some information,
and then we'll just go from there.
All right, man, I really appreciate it.
Sounds good, dude.
We'll talk soon.
All right, man.
There we go.
A one-ring wonder.
He picked up his phone right away.
John, excited to go hunting with you.
Sounds like a good old boy from North Carolina,
or South Carolina.
What was it?
North Carolina.
All said and done, WTA, thank you to everyone who entered.
We're gonna be doing more of these in the future.
Super fun to give back to you guys,
give an opportunity, really, for me to give back,
build a bow for someone,
and offer the opportunity to come on an awesome hunt.
I'm super pumped about it.
I'm excited.
Mule deer in Canada is always something I've wanted to do,
so let's go build some arrows now.
We have two dozen of these bad boys
because I'm expecting to shoot these for tack.
You know what happens at tack.
You end up hitting a rock, busting a bunch of arrows,
so we got two dozen of these,
but today, what we're gonna do is
I'm just gonna build just a couple of them,
kind of run through some specs,
because some really interesting specs with these arrows.
I need a knife.
Some really interesting specs with these arrows,
and we should get some incredible speed out of these arrows
just because of how light they are.
Of course, the RIP TKO, any of the TKO series has the weave,
and the weave creates an incredibly strong arrow,
but what a weave also does is it makes it
a little bit heavier just because it's more material.
More material, obviously, is more weight,
so with this arrow, it is just, it's no weave on it.
It's just carbon, steel from Victory.
These are Victory RIP Extreme Velocity XV,
faster, stronger, straighter.
These are 001s, so we have the super high tolerance 001s,
which what a 001 does is it essentially
is the straightest option that you can get in an arrow,
which has the tightest or the least amount
of a spine indexing, so depending on
if you don't line up your spine indexing correctly,
don't know how to get it or whatever,
you'll have the most forgiveness in your shot,
in your tuning, in your broadhead tuning,
and all that jazz, so the most interesting thing
about this arrow right out the gate is the outsert.
It's this tiny little outsert that I believe
is only 30 grains, so that's where a lot of the weight
can always help reduce.
I'm running 50 grains or 75 grains in the front,
so these are little tiny 30 grain outserts,
which technically you could run these on a TKO
if you wanted to, so I'm gonna fletch these
kind of in our tried and true way of how I fletch them.
We just got our custom B-Rail wraps,
available on B-RailCustomGear.com,
or previously known as B-Rail Merch.
We're switching everything over to B-Rail Custom
because we're more than just merch now.
We're gear, we're hard goods, we're more than that,
so these are X3 vanes, a huge fan favorite.
X3, harder, little stiffer material,
a little harder material that's quieter,
cuts through the air better, less drag,
so that's why we still have the X vanes.
If you're wanting some more drag,
you wanna shoot some big fixed blades,
doing like a four fletch in the X vane,
little flimsier material, more like a blazer material,
they'll have more drag, but these,
running a three fletch in the X vane,
stiffer material, less drag, cuts through the wind better,
less noise, better for your expandables
or a little tiny fixed head.
Maybe you bump up to a four fletch in this
if you're running more of a bigger fixed head
or fixed head in general,
I probably would anyways bump up to it.
So that's what we're fletching these with.
We're just doing tack with these arrows.
It's gonna be our tacker.
It's our tack arrow build, the lightest arrow.
This is probably gonna be the lightest arrow
I could build with my setup.
Gonna be 80 pounds.
This is a Victory Rip Extreme Velocity V1
in a 300 spine.
That's what we're doing, that's what we're doing today.
So let's go ahead and put some wraps on these bad boys.
There we go.
Got a wrap installed and for this we're gonna do
and we're gonna do a left helical clamp on it.
So we're gonna make sure that our first fletch
is gonna be right on top of that crease line.
The left helical clamp, you really gotta make sure
that it's all lined up.
Got a blazer bond.
Fletch our arrows with.
And what I like to do,
put the vein right there on that top line.
Don't gotta go crazy with it.
This vein, I kind of like to do five little dots.
Let me smooth it out a little bit.
Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco.
Comes after cinco.
Six.
There we go, first vein down.
Rotate.
Make sure there are no air pockets.
Kind of leaned out on my five dots there
so we're a little more clamp and push.
And we'll clean up, I'm gonna do this quick
so the glue won't be dry yet.
We'll clean up all that excess glue spewing out.
Third and final fletching.
Now Q-tips work best, but we gotta take the top off.
Just gonna run down the fletching lines
and clean up that extra glue.
There we go.
So we have, this is, I love how they look.
They perform super, super well.
But just that wrap combo with that X3 vein
does such a good job.
Looks really well with the graphics too.
So there we go, we got our arrow.
What we're gonna do now is we're gonna cut it real quick.
And I kind of wanna shoot it through the chrono
and see how fast we can get maybe compared
to a couple of the arrows that I got set up.
So we got my RIP-TKOs that I've been shooting.
Rough estimate where these bad boys are gonna get cut.
Okay, ready to cut.
Now we need our squaring device.
G5 makes the best squaring device in my opinion.
They just upgraded it too within the last year or two.
This, it doesn't slip over as much as the TKOs,
but it still has a little lip on it.
Actually, a really small lip.
Which, like I was saying, TKOs are the big honkin' 75s.
This is my TAKO.
Should be good, should be fancy.
What I wanna do though is if I can get it shorter,
I'm going to.
So I'm just gonna draw back and see how short I can go.
I could go a little bit more.
Okay, so we're gonna cut just a little bit more.
Because we're trying to get speed.
We're trying to get crazy speed out of this.
See that?
I can lift my arrow up off of the rest by doing this.
Watch my release hand.
Ready?
Just by doing that, now look at the arrow.
I can lift it up off of the rest.
Because this arrow is so light, it's incredible.
Your backhand torque just lifting up.
By going like this, going like this, this is dramatic.
But by tipping my release down like this,
there's so much pressure on the D-loop.
It's snagging the D-loop and it's pulling it down.
It's torquing it.
It's torquing it like this,
just lifting the arrow up off the rest slightly.
It's incredible.
You wonder why, you know, if you're shooting far distances
and you're trying to get dialed in.
It's like, why did that go like a little high?
Why did that go a little left?
You don't realize that every little tiny thing that you do,
like just even that little thing,
maybe you got it settled in a little bit more
when you shot and it just made the arrow go
a half inch higher, inch higher, or whatever.
You're like, eh, whatever.
It's very tough to do everything the same
over and over and over again.
Okay, so we're going to get this insert,
outsert, outsert, insert glued in.
We typically use this black fusion,
but that takes about 10, 15 minutes.
I don't want to wait 10 to 15 minutes.
There we go.
Got that, let's install a field tip.
That's a pretty nasty looking arrow.
It looks tiny because it's cut all the way
to the edge of my rest, just barely.
So, let's, I want to shoot this thing through the chrono,
so let's go ahead and do that.
Okay, we're going to shoot this bad boy through the chrono.
332.
This is my rip TKO.
Let's see how fast this is in comparison.
298.
So, we're getting over 30 feet per second
switching to this arrow.
Victory rip velocity.
I want to do that again.
That's absurd.
This arrow's probably really light.
We need to weigh it next.
I mean, that's stupid fast.
332, yeah.
My goodness.
That is probably as fast as I could possibly
get this bow without it blowing up.
No kidding.
But, rip velocity.
30 grains in the front, 100 grain tip.
Let's weigh this bad boy.
350 grains.
I'm very excited about this arrow.
I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time.
But, this video is just the build.
If you want to build these and try these out,
you're gonna increase your speeds dramatically.
This would honestly be a really good arrow
for if you're running some lower poundage
or even kids or something and wanting to
get some speeds for target shooting and stuff.
But, I'm super pumped about this
because of total archery challenge,
shooting really far.
This arrow's gonna be dialed in and perfect for it.
So, thank you all for watching.
We will catch you guys in the next one.
