What did it take to trade like an ancient Egyptian? This week in our "How to Be a Pharaoh" series, we channel our inner merchant by harvesting reeds, handcrafting a traditional Egyptian trade boat, and launching it in wintery waters.
Our journey explores how ancient Egyptians traded grain, gold, and papyrus for exotic spices, incense, wood, and even baboonsāyes, baboons. As we brave icy winds, awkward headwear, and a boat thatās more submarine than ship, we learn why trade wasnāt just about treasureāit built empires.
With a surprise cameo from a friendly Irish farmer and a tribute delivery to the Land of Punt (with tea bags and spice mix, naturally), this might just be our most chaoticāand educationalāepisode yet.
