Driver Rams Into Pedestrians in Western France, 9 Injured

A driver drove into a crowd of pedestrians and cyclists on France's Oleron Island, off the western coastline, on Wednesday. At least nine were injured, according to the mayor and the Interior Minister.

Deputy Interior Minister Marie-Pierre Vedrenne said the 35-year-old suspect was a French national and had been living on the island. The local prosecutor said the suspect shouted 'Allahu Akbar' when he was arrested,  a phrase meaning "god is the greatest" in Arabic.
