I've said it a million times, when you hit 40 everything changes, therefore everything you use
needs to change. So today I want to go through with you the best daytime foundations for over 40s.
These are foundations that are great for a natural fresh kind of flawless finish but wearable for
during the day because as you may already know if you're in your 40s and above and beyond that
your skin becomes a little different and therefore things sit differently on it. So sometimes makeup
that maybe isn't even that heavy or never looked heavy on you when you're in your 20s
can look so heavy on you now. So I know I find that with some products that I absolutely loved
and now I just cannot believe that I can't use them because they look so different on me now.
I have put together the best foundations that I feel are amazing for giving you that flawless
finish but they still look really natural and fresh and they're great for anyone in the 40s
for during the day. If you're new here my name is Nina, I'm a celebrity makeup artist, I've been
doing this for over two decades now and I'm a beauty, a beauty educator, I was gonna say beauty.
I have worked on hundreds of faces, all different ages, all different skin types and I basically
share everything that I have learned over the years on my channel here. I keep everything very
transparent, I tell you everything, I don't hold back and I'm very honest with all my reviews too.
So moving on, let's start with the first one which I know you're gonna love. Some of you I know are
already using this because you've mentioned it in comments which I always read. It's the Hourglass
Veil Hydrating Skin Tint. It's such an effortless everyday glow, it's one of the most easiest, most
forgiving formulas for skin that's in the 40s or mature in general. It's like a lightweight cream
gel finish and it's got skincare built into it so it's very good for your skin which is what I love
and that's another reason why I feel like it's so good for during the daytime because it genuinely
is making your skin better as you're wearing it. I would think of this as a foundation-tinted
moisturiser hybrid, right, because it's kind of got all the benefits of a tinted moisturiser but it
does lean more towards the pigment side to give you that really nice kind of coverage that you need
but it does give you that really nice kind of hydrated look to your skin. The coverage is sheer
to light but I feel like when you pair this with a good concealer you're going to get the most
stunning finish. The pigment is very even on this and I feel like you're not struggling to find that
coverage with this product so you still get that kind of perfected smooth finish without the
heaviness of this with this product. The formula includes certain skin ingredients that really help
to keep that bounce in your skin and just help your skin looking healthy. The finish is natural
dewy, not glossy, not slippery, not shiny. It just kind of gives you that kind of skin-like radiance
I feel like that you know what you want but you want it without all of the bad bits like the
slippery, shiny feel or look. This is perfect for dry combination or normal skin tones. I feel like
it's a very good product for anyone in their 40s dealing with changing skin. I feel like if you're
someone who hates the feeling of foundation on your skin you're going to absolutely love this.
It feels like skincare on your skin but it kind of like looks like you've just had a facial. Do
you know what I mean? Like it gives you that kind of skin so it's a really really good product and I know
you're going to love this. The next one is the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. You know I
absolutely love this and I use this all the time. I think this is my go-to for quick flawless makeup
for the day. It's a classic and it's unmatched for a reason because it has the perfect texture, finish,
formula, blendability, like everything. I just feel like it's not too fluid on your skin. It's
almost like this cream. It's a thick cream. That's how it comes out of the tube. It doesn't come out
runny. It genuinely feels like a moisturizer that you're putting on your skin which is not too fluid
but even the natural dewy one is not kind of like it's not actually that dewy. It's just like the
perfect type of dewy. It's not slippery at all on the skin. It's the perfect creamy texture that's easy to
blend over your skin. Coverage is light to medium but very easy to blend in and it's very easy to
layer it up as well if you want extra coverage. Again, it's got other ingredients in there which
are really great for your skin and great for that boost of hydration. SPF 30. Is it SPF 30? Yes, SPF 30
as well so obviously you're getting that protection. Vitamin E for antioxidant protection. So you've
got a lot in here and I feel like there's, you know, there's a reason why everyone absolutely
loves this tinted moisturizer and why it's done so well and why it's so iconic. It's a radiant glow
that you get with this. They do have a blurred matte version as well which is just less radiant
but not actually that matte to be honest with you. So I wouldn't be afraid of it just because
it says blurred matte. It actually just gives you more of a blurred finish I would say to your skin.
I would say the natural dewy gives you that kind of really nice luminosity to your skin, like almost
like very good skin but not shiny at all. It's a really good kind of radiance that it gives you.
It evens your skin tone, it softens fine lines, never exaggerates texture and gives you a skin-like
finish, is buildable. I mean what more do you want? It's absolutely perfect for over 40s. Next is the
Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation. This is a polished but fresh foundation so I feel like
you get an, like honestly, such a beautiful flawless finish to your skin but when you first put it on
you kind of think it's going to be heavy. That's what I thought anyway so I don't know if anyone
else has thought this but you kind of assume it's going to be heavy because it is quite a thick
product when you first put it on but actually it makes your skin look so good and not heavy, not
cakey and it's actually really good for during the daytime. It gives you that signature Charlotte
Tilbury radiance, I think that's what you get from this. Without shimmer, without glitter, without
those kind of pigments that you don't really need that make it into an evening foundation or too
heavy. The formula has hyaluronic acid and rose extract so that really helps with hydration and
just makes your skin better over time as well. I would say the best way to describe this is this
gives you that candlelit glow to your skin, you know, that kind of radiance. That's what you're
going to get from this foundation and I would say you only need one layer of this. It is so easy to
build up the coverage with this but honestly I don't think you're going to need it. One layer
is more than enough, gives you amazing coverage, doesn't look heavy on the skin. I would say this
is the one foundation that genuinely does make your skin look beautiful. Finish wise, it's not greasy
at all. It's radiant but not greasy. You get light reflection with this foundation so what that means
is the light kind of bounces off and it softens fine lines so it doesn't enhance any texture or
fine lines. This is my pick for those important lunch dates, those like, you know, like during the
day meetings that maybe you want to look flawless, you need like a power move and one of them is
going to be your foundation. It's like that, that kind of like foundation. So it's for those
important daytime events where you don't want evening but you also want it to be just a little
bit more. That's what this foundation is for. Next is the NARS Light Reflecting Foundation. This is a
very fluid foundation and it's part foundation, part skincare, so another kind of hybrid foundation.
Light reflecting, so again, light bounces off of your skin, softens your fine lines, wrinkles and
texture and kind of like blurs the skin a little which is great. It has fermented ingredients in
there, peptides, so it literally is actual skincare in there. Like it's not just a brand claiming with
a few, you know, bit of hyaluronic acid and that's it. This has actually got really good ingredients
in there that help your skin long term as well. It actually helps to strengthen your skin barrier
over time, so that's another great plus point of this. Coverage is medium but you can sheer it out
or you can build it up if you want more coverage but I feel like this is a great foundation that
works really well with concealers, you can set it as normal, perfect for during the day, doesn't look
heavy and it's very easy to get a light finish with this. Radiant, very softly luminous on the skin,
not flat at all, I would say this gives you a very kind of healthy skin look. Amazing if you deal with
like dullness or texture on your skin because I feel like it really does kind of bring your
skin back to life and I think because the formula is so thin, like I mentioned, when you put it on
the skin it doesn't sit on top, it very easily melts into your skin and hence it doesn't look
heavy at all. If you love this video so far, please do hit the like button, subscribe to my channel,
it would really help if you do that, I would appreciate it. So yeah, thank you in advance.
The next is the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. This is like a skincare infused
multitasker, it has everything you need in here and it's so good for during the day. So this has,
what does it have? It's got SPF 40 and you've got a couple of different options actually because
you've got like the colour correcting full coverage cream, then you've got also the matte poreless
finish full coverage which is hydrating. I absolutely love this product, it's so good
for during the day when you want that flawless finish but you want it to be skin-like and you
want your skin to look the best in the best possible way. It's rich, it's creamy, definitely
more coverage than a tinted moisturiser but that's what's great about it because you're getting the
skincare benefits of a tinted moisturiser, if not more, and you're getting the coverage that you
need too. So if you need a little bit extra coverage, if you're one of those that wants a
little bit of extra coverage, then this is great for you. Coverage is medium to full and I know it
says full coverage on the bottle but I do feel like it's more of a medium coverage and you can
share it out so that it isn't so heavy so you can still create a really nice light finish with this.
Infused with collagen, peptides, all sorts of stuff that's really good for your skin,
everything that mature skin loves. If you want a one and done product that evens out your skin tone,
hides redness, deals with things like rosacea, gives you hydration, gives you glow, gives you
coverage, still friendly for acne prone skin, all these kind of things, this is like a really good
product for you. It honestly is such a mold, like it just has so much in there that is really good
for your skin. Just a reminder that less is more with this, I feel like a pea-sized amount is more
than enough and I wouldn't obviously ever, I should have mentioned this with the Laura Mercier
one as well, I wouldn't ever replace your moisturiser with a CC cream or a tinted moisturiser
as much as they may tell you to. Stick to your normal skincare and then apply this product to
replace your foundation with. Next is the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. This is SPF 40 so you're
getting that really good skincare kind of protection in there and it is a very fluid product
but it is really good if you want ultra light coverage and you want something during the day
which is just going to kind of like give you light to medium coverage but also give you all of those
skincare benefits. It's leaning more towards skincare than pigment I would say. It's technically
a tinted serum, it's not like a traditional foundation but the payoff is pretty good
especially for mature skin. It's packed with niacinamide, squalane if that's how you say it,
hyaluronic acid so very good for hydration for your skin. Plumps, hydrates and as I said protects
your skin as well and it actually does improve your texture over time as well from what I've read.
If your foundation tends to cling to dry patches I think this is going to be a bit of a game changer
for you. This might actually work really well. If you struggle with that issue try the Ilia Super
Serum Skin Tint. I think it's going to be a really good option for you. Next is the MAC Studio
Radiance Foundation. I really do love this foundation. I feel like this is a great daytime foundation. I
use it in the daytime a lot. It kind of gives you that lit from within look. It's very radiant
but not like greasy or anything you know. It's just the kind of radiance a person who prefers
matte skin would normally want. That's the level of radiance you're going to get from this. It's
medium coverage, it's buildable, it absolutely looks flawless on your skin. Flexible enough for
nearly all skin types. Formula includes kind of moisturising agents in there so you can really
feel that it's quite a bouncy product. It definitely feels plumping and bouncy on your skin.
It blurs your imperfections and it's great for textured skin which I have on my cheek areas here.
In all it's a great foundation which is infused with skincare and I think is underrated. I don't
think enough people talk about this foundation. I would say the finish is like kind of like a
polished look that you get to your skin. I definitely feel like when I wear this foundation
my skin looks bouncy, like plump and bouncy and I love it. I love the finish it gives.
The next one is the Fenty Beauty Ease Drop Skin Tint. This is a blurring skin tint and I feel
like this is actually a really good product. I haven't used it in a while but I did use it
recently just to kind of remind myself why I loved it to begin with and then I was like okay wow yeah
it's really good for during the day. It's just easy to travel with, it's very light and airy
on the skin, good pigment, blurring, smooths out kind of fine lines or texture, light to coverage
Did I already mention the coverage? I can't remember because I've spoken about so many
foundations but it's light to medium coverage. It's kind of like a natural satin finish that
you get on your skin. It's actually infused with blurring powders in there so it does blur the
skin a little bit more as well. Amazing I think if you have combination or even oily skin type like
or mature skin type I feel like this is a really good foundation for during the day and it's
actually quite surprising how much coverage this does give you without feeling or looking heavy.
Next is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Skin Foundation. How could I not mention this? I know
this is a foundation that so many people love. It is iconic. I do feel that they need to kind of like
I don't know maybe just update it. There's nothing wrong with it. Let me put it that way. There's
nothing wrong with it. It's a great foundation. I'm mentioning it because I have mentioned it
previously that I do feel like there's not much that's, you know, it does need to be updated.
I have mentioned this before but the reason I'm including it in this is because I know a lot of
people still love it and I love it too. I don't necessarily wear it all the time but I do think
it's a really good daytime foundation especially if you're in your 40s. I would say more so if
you're in your 40s. The texture is silky and fluid and it blends really easily onto the skin. It's
very flexible, buildable, very luminous finish and works really well on all kind of skin types
especially mature skin. It generally does make your skin look really flawless. I think what I'm
trying to say is that I feel like so many other foundations have got so good and brands have
really upped their game with foundations that I feel like Giorgio Armani needs to like, you know,
it's such, it's still an iconic foundation but it's got competition now. Do you see what I mean?
That's my point and there was a point where that didn't have any competition so I feel like that's
it. It's still a really great foundation and that's why I'm including it. Next is the Pat
McGrath Sublime Perfecting Foundation. I know it's a bit of a splurge but if you want
daytime foundation that looks flawless and not heavy then this is for you. It's the ultimate
luminous skin effect. It's a serum texture, ultra lightweight, smooth, buildable, very flexible,
coverage is light to medium but you can build it up very easily and I feel like it builds up
invisibly so it does genuinely look skin-like. I feel like you can layer this up three times and
still won't look heavy so you can really build up the coverage there. I would let each layer dry
down before moving on to the next layer just so that you're not letting everything slip all over
the place but it really is a good foundation that gives you great coverage. Kind of like your skin
but perfected. Don't forget I have thebeautybreakfastclub.com. I would love you to
head on over there. It's an online publication that I have created myself, a new newsletter
every two days, covers beauty, fashion, style, a bit of everything and it's free to subscribe but
there is a paid option which literally just costs you the same as getting one coffee a month and
that unlocks the entire site plus part of the paid version means that you get to join the group chat
where you can ask me questions directly and I answer them directly. So those are all of my
foundations that I recommend for anyone in their 40s. I really do hope you've enjoyed this today.
Now it is a very kind of like, I hope you've like, I hope you've got all the information that I wanted
to tell you about every foundation. I also don't want to overcomplicate it but I do really want
you to understand that these foundations look absolutely amazing on anyone over 40. They are
specific, they feel like they've been specifically made for maturing skin. Skin that's changing, you
know, and that's what you need. Foundations that you don't have to buy, use one day and the next
day you don't use it because your skin's changed already. These are foundations that work really
well with changing skin and skin that's becoming more mature. So I feel like, I think you're going
to love any of these. So if you pick out the ones that sound like they match more to what you want,
you'll find the one that you like. But I would highly recommend any of these foundations. I
really hope you've enjoyed it today. Don't forget to like, subscribe and hit the bell and I'll see
