How did Renaissance artists start an oil painting? Here, in this dvd, is the long lost under painting technique of laying down a perfect veil of wet color and working lights and darks into it that will be dry by the next day. Leonardo could finish a brown underpainting in one night. You can to. This show also demonstrates over painting with transparent glazes and pearly opaque layers. A smaller filbert, and I'm going to get some alizarin on it, with the alizarin.
I'm going to make the alizarin get deeper, right in the shadow edge there.
You see the old masters did that, so I still want to steal that from them.
Soften that edge, again the alizarin is very strong.
Sometimes around the nostrils there's a little more redness.
I'm going to get a q-tip here, so I can get some of that off there.
So I'm just having fun now.
See if I can get some right along the edge of that shadow.
That's where you see a lot of color, right along the edge of the shadow.
I just put a little tiny feather mist of alizarin on there.
